Spoke to Brown's parents at Birmingham away and they spoke very highly of the club and it's support and they both joined in with Irene regularly in broad London accents. Pleased he's signed a new deal, as good as a new signing and not really one of the issues last year. Hopefully he can take more set pieces like Wycombe. The people at the club running the playing side are obviously doing a lot of things very well. If Lee Brown and his parents speak warmly of the club then why oh why can't we migrate the same attitude and culture to EVERY part of the club. So frustating. To be honest it was more the support than the club, though they spoke well of the coaching staff.

Lee Brown has committed his future to Bristol Rovers by signing a new deal. The defender, 23, turned down a number of Football League clubs to stay at the Memorial Stadium. Manager Darrell Clarke said: “I am absolutely delighted that Lee has committed himself to Bristol Rovers. “He has turned down interest from League clubs, and I am really pleased I could persuade him to stay. “He was one of our more consistent players last season, and his assist rate and the creation of goals from his position was very important. “He will be an integral part of the team for next season.” Meanwhile, club chairman Nick Higgs said: “I am very pleased that Lee has decided to stay with the club. He was one of the bright sparks last year in a back four that was largely effective. “Although we will be bringing in new faces, it is good to retain some stability at the club.” I wonder if the armband was part of DC's sweetener to keep him?

I could see him being the Vice-Captain & if McChrystal doesn't want the main job i think Brown could well take on the role.

That's great loyalty from Browner and I'm glad he's staying to (hopefully) get us out of this mess.
I haven't always been his biggest fan, particular his set-pieces, but I think he will be a huge asset in the Conference.
Good luck Lee.

The clouds are slowly parting. Lovely to see a player thinking so much of the club, that's possibly the best news of all. ![smiley_emoticons_pirate2_thumbs1](//storage.proboards.com/5622478/images/pLCc8sQCot2DqWnSPtHN.gif)

Fantastic news - thank you Lee!
A definite vote of confidence in DC too, that Lee has turned down offers from league clubs to be part of Darrell's plans. With Lee knowing how DC operates behind the scenes on a daily basis, that's a real positive for me.

That is good news and great Lee has shown some loyalty to Rovers, something that seems quite rare these days.

Any loyalty shown to our club deserves special praise, well done Lee, good on you mate, I am sure it wouldnt have taken most much persuasion to leave for football league football and a better finacial deal, yes he needs to work on his set pieces, if designated to take them next season will have to do just that, as a defender though dont think there will be many any better in the league we find ourselves in, nice soundbites also, I wonder if that might humble the BoD!

best thing this shows is we've a manager who is prepared to say we've offered you what you are worth, dont care if you've had higher offers, you either want to play for us or you don't.
On Tuesday DC said he'd made the offer to Brown, based on what it would cost us to replace him, and at our level players like Brown can be replaced and we would not be held to ransom.
Its great LB feels some loyalty, and people should remember he wasn't taking all free kicks and corners because he wouldn't let anyone else- he was doing what the management team told him too.But people should also think when was last better left back we've had? Vaughan Jones?
But as I said its far more important that the manager is ignoring agents pleas, and saying yep one year at this money, take it or leave it.
DC said on Tuesday recruitment at Bristol ROvers had been wrong for several years, and he would put that right as he could and why would you do anything else. I hope results early on are good as the more you see of DC you know he is a 'keeper' and can halt the management roundabout, if fans have patience and a few bad results early doors whilst we are settling in don't result in sack the manager calls

Stuns me to see a player go against his agent + others in this day and age, great loyalty to the club. I wouldn't have blamed him for leaving, after all a footballer's career is very short. Having said that, very pleased he's signed on - keeping Mildenhall and the two full backs were huge priorities for me .If we can keep the back five together whilst bringing in some back-up defenders I'd be delighted on that front really.
In other news, Cheltenham are (according to their chairman) signing a goalkeeper very soon. Seeing as they are the only club I could see Mildenhall leaving for, I'm sure we'll find out in the next couple of days whether he's staying or not.
EDIT: With regards to set-pieces, I think if Alan Gow is playing regularly next season he'll take over from LB, particularly corners.

There are some good left backs in the Conference, but Browner will be up there with the best of them. Good news.

12 assists last season is pretty impressive for a left back. We'll hopefully see more of the same in the Conference.
