Maybe I am on my own here but I think that the team haven't got a 'nasty' enough edge to them,take Lockyer at Dover,that was a nasty foul on him,that little sh1t who did it should have had some back IMO.
The only players who seem to have a go back are Mansell and on occasion Leadbetter,I accept that we have moved on from the days of Alex Munro (worse luck !) because nobody f#cked about with him,but we need to show some of these non league lads that they aren't going to get away with it.
I do think that Leadbetter with good coaching could be a very good player for Rovers his pace is great,he loves to get tackles in and although sometimes his passing is a bit off he is capable of excellent passing,he needs to find consistency which will come with an extended run of games,I hope he plays at FGR tonight because that winger caused Lockyer all sorts of problems in the away game. |

Alex Munro was awesome. Saw him sent off at Eastville after a drop ball incident where rather than hoofing the ball away he kicked the opposition player in the gentleman vegetables. |

I partnered Alex Munro in a charity darts match and he threatened to thump me if i didnt improve!! (I think he might have been joking but I wasnt going to argue!) Great bloke but you wouldnt want him as an !

Straight red for bad tackle and same for a push!
Not sure being nasty has a place in modern football.

Refs often bottle the original incident and take action against the retaliation which is more clear cut.

I'm with you. From the games I've seen them in, that is where Forest Green and Eastleigh have succeeded this season. They have what some would call nasty and some would call professional approach. Given the weak referreing we have seen at this level, it seems to be an effective tactic. The game has moved on in many ways, but I've often said this season that we have been too honest. That said, if we do succeed in the play offs, my stupid sense of right and wrong will be in balance. |

Wasn't there a team once whom played fair, never play acted or time wasted and went about the game in a gentlemanly way? Maybe called Corinthians??
They're extinct.
Problem is, get very few rewards if you're not nasty!

The problem with being nasty is that you can end up with 10 or 9 players and lose the game ala Forest Green at home. Lets make no mistake about it Forest Green are a team of limited ability and therefore play the game a different way. Eastleigh are full of experienced players who play it craftily- a nasty bunch to play. It is very important.in fact the most important thing that we keep 11 players on the pitch in all three of the remaining games. Any signs of a lack of common sense and control in their approach must be immediate substitution.
We must not give these low standard referees the chance to make their nonsence decisions.

we were out muscled in our two home defeats in the league by two Clubs who like us have reached the play offs. We failed to beat them both away ..so Those fans who think we are at Wembley already PLEASE BEAWARE ..just because we can sell out a home match does not make us favourites to get back in the FL. It seems to me Conference refs let more physical stuff go than in the FL

Not quite the same but Archie Stevens at Brentford circa 1984 was awesome came on as sub and never touched the ball straight red for what I can only call an assault on Chris kamara is think also very tasty in the players bar after |

it does worry me that forest green/eastleigh have experienced players wo know how to intimidate opposition/break up the other teams flow as well as play the ref,i do fear for us if we have a hoof ball fest,im hoping we get the ball down and play and also play some balls in the channels for taylor and harrison,,think thats the way to beat fgr/eastleigh

The problem with nasty is that you risk red or injuring yourself or oppo in the process. In my experience as a CM; you have to rise above it; you retaliate by being more determined to win the ball next time and win it hard but within the rules. It's a fine line.

The Corinthian Casuals are still going with the aims of: The aims of the Club are to promote fair play and sportsmanship, to play competitive football at the highest level possible whilst remaining strictly amateur and retaining the ideals of the Corinthian and the Casuals Football Clubs.
I watched them at Wembley, which had been hired for the day, against FC Wimbledon to celebrate something. Their strip is awful and as they were getting thrashed we left at half time:

We outplayed FGR at home with ten men, and only woeful finishing denied us a deserved win.

Some of the passing football played on Saturday was a delight to watch and some may say it was against a very poor side BUT how many other teams have put seven past them? The way for us to play is on the ground against all these "bullies". Its got to be a bit of "turn the other cheek" especially for someone like Harrison who tends to react to situations. If you get fouled it probably means you are making the opponent look a fool so keep doing the same and wait for the opponent to get the card. Our players sometimes make it too easy to book them.

It's not about being nasty, it's about being street smart and being able to withstand a physical a battle. I don't think we're dreadful in that department but for some teams it is the primary part of their game and you need to be able to cope with it. Lines, for example, has always struggled when the game gets more physical particularly if the opposition pack the midfield and limit the space he can operate in. But I can't see our Centre Backs being outmuscled by too many teams and Monkhouse is an awkward prescence too. Perhaps there's a bit of a lack of it up front at times but really a lot of the time we seem to be 'outfought' what has actually happened is that we haven't managed to impose ourselves on the game in other ways. If the game is reduced to a clogfest then we need to change something because that's going to be of more advantage to the opposition in this league than it is to us most of the time.
