A seasons best attendance of 3421 at the Hive comes to a grinding halt..when just 28 seconds into the game Akinde hits the bar with his head going for a soft header, is stretchered off the field comatosed, to a stunned crowd this is the unlikeliest of scenarios on a do or die day, then just 4 minutes later Weston is sent off for kissing the referee after being booked in a clumsy tackle, for dissent, Bee's fans are streaming out of the ground as their dreams are shattered after just 4 minutes play of the final league game of the season, of which they had dominated top spot, This now is becoming more mortifying as Gateshead with a team fielding 3 untested players take the lead with a header from the referee who is in the way following a corner.... goal of the season at the Hive this year!! Meanwhile just along the M4 Bristol Rovers are eager to take advantage of the events in London, when again by sheer co-incedence the referee heads in a beauty of a back header following a corner to Bristol Rovers,A day for everything to play for here is turning the way of the rovers playing in front of their biggest league gate of the season a credible 11101 , the game becomes a rather tense affair as Rover's opponents...fighting to stay in the league hit the bar from a goal kick, too close for comfort there!! then just 18 seconds remaining in the game Barnet Manger a former Tottenham player,, stun the crown by emerging from the dug -out in his Bee's playing kit, substitutes the goalkeeper for himself and gets his team fired up, this is it boys the bugle sound and it headlong up field with the ball toward the Gateshead goal still defending a 0-1 lead, were going Alamo style...... off they charge , just 10 yards from the goal Allen is fed the ball in from the left takes a mighty swing and whaaaaap he strikes the ball so hard it 's unable to be seen, BUT!!! he strikes the cross bar... and after hitting the ball so hard it rebounds to the other end of the pitch and into an unguarded goal... Barnet fans and players fall to the ground hardly able to realise what has just happened before their eyes, dreams broken, now into the lottery of a play offs ,Meanwhile Rovers are hanging on for the final whistle as Alfreton lay siege to their goal for a desperate equaliser to save their league status butt o no avail, rovers regain their league status after dropping out of League two last season having only been in danger of relegation for 45 minutes all season[according to some] but that is history now, gasheads are now happy at not having to pay exhorbitant Wembley ticket prices to watch their team in a stadium built in the wrong place of England....... happy days
