I think Akinde has 9 yellows now against his name. If he gets booked at the weekend meaning reaching 10 yellows, will he get a 2 game ban (like Mansell did recently) or is there a cut off date where yellows dont carry over anymore?
Anyone know?
Thanks in advance if anyone has the answer!

I think there is some sort of cut off date, at the back of my mind. Still, we do not need to clutch at straws do we? well maybe

Only on 7 Because when he got 2 yellows in one game and got sent off the 2 yellows get cleared

I am just simply wondering if a promotion rivals main threat gets booked on Saturday, will he then be suspended for the last 2 remaining games! Just a question. No straw clutching here! Well maybe

Would be interesting to see what percentage of goals he is scoring compared to start of season, Curtis Weston has now bagged 4 in 5 and a few others have scored around Akinde. Apart from Welling it's not as if they are smashing teams

Oh look here is "football league" to talk about Barnet.
He's not a Barnet fan you know!

He could have been booked 19 times and the bees will still tell us it's 8!

Yep, cut off date is second Sunday in April. This means if Akinde avoids a yellow he can risk one in each of the remaining games.

so if he can stay on his feet for one game he can dive to his hearts content in the last two? Let's hope we're ahead of them on Saturday night!

I realise that we like to mock John Akinde for one reason or another, the most likely reason for this is that he played for the other mob at some point in his career, he played (unsuccessfully) for us for a while, and he has a reputation for diving. All perfectly justified too.
But I've just looked at his Wikipedia entry, and it is an interesting read if nothing else. He has played for a total of 14 teams in his senior career, both professional and non-professional, and roughly half of those teams have been loan deals. Apart from two or three clubs they have all been from the lower divisions, and he has never scored consistently until his last two clubs. But that all changed when he joined Alfreton Town (42 games with 18 goals), and now Barnet where he has scored 29 goals in 39 appearances according to Wikipedia.
This tells me that he has now matured, both physically and mentally and he may be ready to kick-on with his career, particularly if he can curb his overly physical approach a tad. In any event a player to keep an eye on, whichever league he's playing in next year.

12 goals from open play this season? Not that impressive. Penalties are more or less goals on a plate & they've had their fair share of those this season.

There was always a player in there somewhere. I remember the 6-3 win at Wycombe in the JPT, Kuffour got a hat trick but Akinde was the best player on the pitch by a mile that night, I thought.
You could see from his physique and his movement that he's improved a lot since he was with us, McChrystal had a real job to look after him that night, although he did that job brilliantly.

Question is can he step up to league football? Rendell's got 22 goals and I can't see him ever returning to league football.

Yes, on reflection you're probably right, Dude. Why even our own Matty Taylor has scored more goals than that this season, although it does include the odd penalty or two it's true, and even he is not universally acclaimed within our own ranks as a genuine goalscorer. Tough life ennit.

It's all very exciting but we're all shatting ourselves in truth Are you feeling confident/playing well enough not to drop any points ? We seem to have hit a purple patch these last two games even without Jermaine Easter

We seem to have hit a purple patch these last two games even without Jermaine Easter Are we good enough to win the 3 remaining games? Yes Will we? God knows but the odds would say all three of us are likely to have at least a draw. Easter seems a bit fragile so far, probably best that you aren't relying on him.
