When you read the Braintree Forum, and see posts such as this . . . . . . it does make you realise how much effort supporters of some other clubs have to put in to support their team. The very best of luck to them, after tonight's game of course.

Could this be the record lowest away fan turnout? Just wondered what that might be....Accrington game last year?

It might sound stupid but I think tonight will be a real test of whether we have the balls to sustain a title challenge over the remaining quarter of the season.
This is EXACTLY the type of game that, certainly in recent memory, we have come unstuck in - decent(ish) crowd expected, expectation levels at a high, playing a team from lower down the table that we really should (said in hushed tones) be beating, a big reward at the end (in this instance, top of the table) ... the Rovers of old would definitely lose this or at least end up with a frustrating draw.
So if we can post a convincing victory tonight I might actually start to believe that this team has something a little different about them and *could* (again said in hushed tones) go all the way.
So, my heart says...
2-0 Brown 7,120 The Beard 42 2
but my head says...
1-2 Mildenhall 5,934 Captain BlackArab 42 2
An away win tonight would be kind of typical for us, but given the often bizarre antics by match officials at this level I would not automatically conclude that such a result meant the squad was lacking in balls. Sometimes just lately it seems as if the game is going on around the Ref while he's away somewhere in his head presiding over a Cloud Cuckoo Land v Atlantis match, with any discussions he has with his linesmen resulting in an advantage to Narnia. I'm not complaining of unfair bias against us here - on the plus side, it does usually come across as Equal Opportunities sort of ineptness. It reminds me a bit of Princess Di's old 'There were three people in this marriage' comment - fixtures at Conference level often seem to involve 'Us' v 'Them' v 'Incompetents United', and it's anybody's game. Sigh... 1-0 Parkes 6,095 The Beard 73 2
