Shrewsbury was another boring identikit tick, should be doing Charlton which will be another tick.
Hoping to do a reasonable standard non-league game between Christmas and New year that is no more than a 20 or so mile journey from Bristol if anyone has any tips?

Double of Bishops Cleeve vs Hereford 3pm and Slimbridge vs Bridgwater 7:45pm on the 27th? Cribs vs Clevedon is a 3pm as well if you want a bit closer to home. 28th is only Wessex League locally (Dorset, Hants etc). 29th the nearest game is Weymouth 6pm kick off. 30th Brimscombe vs Longlevens is a 7:45pm, interesting ground.

There's loads of county league games on in Somerset on Christmas Eve as well if anyone wants a game then.

Anyone been anywhere today?
I took Chewy's advice and popped to Cribbs v Clevedon at The Lawns (Rovers training ground).
To call it a ground would be a bit generous as three sides are hard standing and the other side has two separate stands that amount to about 60 seats in total.
Great spacious clubhouse with modern tellys and a good variety of ales, lagers and ciders. Didn't see any hot food which would've gone down a storm on a day like today, but there were some rolls that had been lovingly made by the elderly gentlemen tending the bar.
The only gas interest I think on show was Jack McKenna playing for Cribbs who was a young midfielder who came through with Ollie Clarke, but pretty sure he never made an appearance.
Cribbs won the game 1-0, which was probably deserved as they had 2 goals disallowed for offside and a Clevedon defender was lucky to escape with a yellow when he hauled down a Cribbs player cleanthrough. Was very impressed with the standard of football however with Clevedon especially looking to play out from the back at any given opportunity.
Enjoyable afternoon, certainly something I'll be doing more of!

Banged two games yesterday, a 3pm kickoff between Slimbridge and Bridgwater. The game was delayed 15 minutes thanks to the M5 being closed in Bristol, it took 3 hours for Bridgy to get to Wisloe Road. Both teams were frankly crap, Slimbridge took the lead very early and lead at half time only for two late Bridgwater goals to steal the points. Done Slimbridge quite a few times, it's a nice enough club without being the most interesting of grounds.
In the evening I travelled up to Pershore for a local derby against Littleton in the Midland Combination League. We got to King Georges' Lane about twenty minutes before kickoff with a thick fog over the pitch and a debate as to if the game would go ahead, after about two minutes the fog lifted and game on. After a tight first 35 minutes Littleton took the lead with a humdinger from 35 yards and doubled it after a defensive mix up. Pershore went to pot second half and conceded four more. The ground was nice, cracking benched stand and good bar. That's ground 262.

Ticked Weymouth last night, another new ground and a pleasant day. I forget that Weymouth is basically the other side of the world despite being not that far away, tempted by Brimscombe later but that's subject to a pitch inspection.

I've been there with Rovers a couple of times. We played them in midweek pre- season friendlies a few years ago, probably early 90s. Like you say, not all that many miles, but a s**te drive, especially mid week. Before the days of automatic promotion Weymouth were one of the top non league teams, sadly for them they peaked too early, if they hadn't, we would have probably played them in the league on a regular basis.

Off to The Valley today, not a new ground for me, but my first time with Rovers, making it 169 different grounds with The Gas.

Off to Hull vs Bournemouth on Saturday, that'll be 73 of the 92. Nice to get down into the teens.

I liked their old place. Huge stand behind one goal and big old terraces. The away end was not so impressive on my visits there, due to the fact the land was sold off to a supermarket. Apparently in it's day it was as big as the one behind the opposite goal. I have been to the new one a couple of times, it is one of the better new grounds, but not a patch on the old place.

I don't think I can be bothered to go to Fleetwood, so might be tempted by a local non-league game if anyone has any suggestions.
Seen Cadbury Heath are at home and never been there, any good?

It isn't completely built round like Mangotsfield for example, but it's nice enough, and it's good to visit our local teams further down the pyramid. A lot of these teams were playing pretty much parks football not so very long ago, nice to see how many have progressed.

Bit boring, Brimscombe, Larkhall, Cambrian & Clydach or Treharris Athletic Western would be the ones I'd look at. Personally, Treharris, not sure how long they'll be there.

I've pretty much exhausted everything locally now so I'll be picking off more from the Welsh pyramid. Midweek games dry up after Christmas as well as most leagues leave the second half of the seasons midweeks fixture free for postponements.

The KCOM was OK, quite good for a newishground. Lots around it as well, wasn't in the middle of a trading estate. Social Clubbefore was good, game was good, the nine hour trip there and back wasn't but, it's done now. 73/92.

Pretty sure I'll do another Dublin trip in the summer, just want to try and find a three game weekend. Done Bohs, Rovers, Pats, Dundalk and the Aviva, so there's still plenty around Dublin to do. Tolka is high up the list now.

Athlone, Longford and Drogheda aren't too far either
