Did anyone really expect Tubbs to shine against Liverpool? He did very much what I thought he would against Liverpool BUT what would he do against Lincoln? The bloke is a deadly striker especially at the lower levels. He spends a lot of time on the shoulder of the last man which is what Taylor doesn't do. Taylor is the better footballer IMO but when it comes to taking chances,OK Tubbs missed one last night but he managed to outwit the Liverpool defence on a couple of occasions and overa period of time will score a lot of goals.. Don't think it will matter anyway as I don't think he will come here.

I always remember watching Tubbs playing against Man Utd at Old Trafford for Crawley a few years back and he looked excellent. Means nothing though really!!
More relevant, his goal ratio for AFC Wimbledon is just over 1 goal every 2 games in a higher division. I'd be surprised if we do get him so maybe his links with Clarke could prove vital?
If we can get him, we should get him and maybe turn some of these draws into wins.

What a shame Paul Trollope refused to have another look at him when he was available for free from Salisbury.....

Interesting that Rigg was nominated for the MotM and yet took so much s**te from our supporters when he was here. Of course the same applies to Browning, Sterling, Boris, Cureton, White and a whole host of others. I don't know if it happens at every club or we are just very good at putting our own players down

Maybe players just hear the criticism more in a crowd of thousands as opposed to a lower supported team. I dont really think this should affect their performances but certainly lots of supportive noise could spur them on to give that extra %.
Then again last season we couldn't buy a win away from home and had great support away as usual?

I don't know if it happens at every club or we are just very good at putting our own players down Rigg was never going to make it in the 1st division, where we were playing at the time, as history has shown to be the case. We can hardly hang on to players until we drop down to their level, as using that logic we should have retained Harding etc in the summer just in case we dropped into Conference South next season!

Barrett - MOTM Rigg - runner-up Pell - still useless! King Rickie - wasted tonight The way that Adam Barrett was treated by the fans during his time here, was when I realised how terrible the average football fan is at assessing a player. Was the rock in an awful rovers team, and in almost every season since he left he's played in a higher division than Rovers, mostly as captain. I agree with you on that one. Barrett very much wore his heart on his sleeve , a very solid defender who made the odd mistake primarily because he had to win every ball. He led by example but did get some stick from the Rovers fans. He certainly played well last night for a 36/7 year old against Liverpool. also thought Rigg played well and Lamberts ability is wasted at Liverpool. Get out fast would be my advice.

Totally agree.
Barrett was a good player and a leader.
I never did understand why he was given so much stick, or why we allowed him to leave. Certainly one of the better defenders to have played for us in the noughties.
Since he left us, he's taken the opportunity to show us what we lost - and good for him. He's one player who makes the most of his abilities.

I watched Adam play for us countless times both home and away. Nice bloke and seemed to do very well when he moved to Southend but I'm sorry he was total garbage for us. Terrible team around him of course which didn't help but still, just can't see where the retrospective love in for him comes from. Just my opinion of course.

I remember him as being very good, apart from 1 or 2 massive and sometimes catastrophic mistakes per game

I remember a very poor first season where he spent most of it on his arse, and a much improved second season. I was disappointed when he left.
I was talking to a Southend fan last night who had nothing but praise for him. He's had a great career overall I reckon.
