I'm not trying to take anything away with the current team that Clarkes brought together but we've only won 4 of the last 14 games, I'm much happier with the current squad we've got compared to last season.. But I still think we're missing a massive piece in the final third... Far too many draws for the first half of the season, 10 points gained, but also 20 points dropped.. Think we need to get on a big roll over the Christmas period! Especially if we want to establish ourselves to the rest of the conference, we've got Torquay twice aswell as Gateshead and Macclesfield in the next month, we need to win at least 2/3 of those games to build some confidence into the new year. I'd settle for that anyway.
any thoughts chaps? don't be mean now.

Creativity in midfield is needed as much as a goalscorer

Pains me to say, but gotta be happy with away draws for this season, they should secure us playoffs. Much room for improvement though to win the league, hopefully we've scouted some decent players for summer window

But we are in 2nd place!!! Bizarre isn't it, and shows how poor the other sides are?
Missing LDV. Too much hoof ball, long 'passes' missing players by miles, high passes to our short forwards...
Yesterday, as with some other games, had poor team selection and substitutions. DC switched to a 3 4 3 system, which he could do with Welling having no good wingers, but it did not work.

Plenty to play for. Nothing is clear until early March and even then (from our own experience 2000/2007)things can change at the top. We just have to continue to win our home games and pick up points away from home. As the pressure builds in the last 10-15 games or so, that is when teams start to fall away. 2 defeats in a row for any team in this league can completely change a team. We have to be sure that if it happens to Barnet we are still in touching distance (No more than 12-15 points IMO).
If this does not happen then it is not the end of the world. The playoffs are not a lottery as many like to describe it. It's about being the best team on the (3) day (s) and putting your chances away. Like 2007.
Let's make sure we do all we can to get that top spot. If we can't do that, let's make sure we do everything to get that play off spot.
I'm excited for the next few months and what they may bring.

Is it worth pointing out that we've lost fewer games than anybody in this league (four) bar Macc (unbeaten at home, four defeats on the road) and FGR (who have drawn even more games than we have!)?
Other teams are winning some, losing some. We're winning some, drawing some. I think that's important and will prove to be so come April.

No. What is important to note is that we have played more games than the others. That's why we are second. And if we keep drawing games we will soon drop out of the play off places.

Is it worth pointing out we have scored the fewest goals of the top 15 teams? Stats, stats and damn stats!

Need to turn the draws into Wins; we do not have a creative midfielder which is essential particularly playing away from home. O yeah, still need a forward who will regularly find the net from open play, then I feel BRFC will walk back into the football league. At the moment I feel we may just struggle over the line into the play-offs.

Missing LDV seems a massive blow, plus Monkhouse missing yesterday robbed us of another creative player.
If we can get to January still in the pack I'll take that now.

I think monkhouse is massively underrated. His aerial prowress makes a huge difference plus his creative passing often unlocks defences. anyone have stats on what we have many we have won when he has started?

Agreed, but we have half dozen tough games, if we can come though that and still be in the mix then we should be able to finish strong. If we drop out of the top 5 the pressure will mount on everybody. Forget comparing this season to last season as January in the Conference compares to February/March in the league, the way we're getting though games so quickly this season.

Nothing is decided in January! And there was me half-hoping that there might be some news (or decisions even) regarding the new stadium, or dare I mention new investors/investment in January. I do wonder how long it takes for the Chairman to vet these new investors that were sniffing round, always assuming that they're still interested that is, or of course that they were ''real'' in the first place. Cynical ennit?

Not strikers, midfielders. Della-Verde is our only creative outlet and he's out (Monkhouse, much as I rate him, is not a natural playmaker). We need someone to get the ball to our strikers in good positions. In so doing, we'll have Blissett, Wall, Harrison and Taylor looking like EPL strikers.

Long time to go till our next league action .Reckon a few fringe players will make the team against Bath. Will give those with knocks a time to recover but can't really get excited about next Sat. Expect Gateshead will not bring many for the next league game on a fri night .Massive journey .

Other teams are winning some, losing some. We're winning some, drawing some. I think that's important and will prove to be so come April. Interestingly, when we won promotion under Megson and again under Gerry F we won a lot of the games by the odd goal and drew most of the others. Both were advocates of a strong defence and Clarke seems of the same mould. The defence is fine and if he can get us winning more by the odd goal or two then we will get promotion
