Blimey fellas.
Mr Sarky and his friends is out and about today.
As I said, if we reached the grand heights of Bournmouth, I'd be chuffed.
Or didn't you manage to read that bit or that far?

Surely aiming to be Burton or Rotherham is more realistic than aiming to be Swansea or Bournemouth, who both have rich owners pumping millions in their respective clubs?

Football is all about money these days you can hope to emulate whatever blueprint you like, but without cash rich owners or a decent stadium, we could do worse than following the lead Luton are taking this season, considering they're our most comparable club at this point, albeit with a fairly respected board.

I read all of it, but haven't found the bit where you mentioned Bournemouth, as you say you did. Good target to aim for though, rather than Swansea.

I read all of it, but haven't found the bit where you mentioned Bournemouth, as you say you did. Good target to aim for though, rather than Swansea. I said... Just to say, also, that I don't think we should be aspiring to be like Burton, Rotherham or many of the other suggestions posted here...I understand that some of these may be more realistic, but you need to aim as high as possible. Don't you?
If we aim for a Swansea situation, but reach Bournmouth heights...then I'll be more than chuffed.
That's all. I was just trying to be positive when I started this post. The Swansea game and the whole experience was SO pleasurable. The atmosphere there was much like it was at Rovers during the Gerry Francis and early Ollie periods. I'm not sure we'll ever get back to that (in fact, without a board with high expectations and aspirations I doubt we'll ever get there!) but even if we don't reach such heights in the league it would be nice to go to a ground with some joy and hope in your heart, rather than the leaden feeling of the last few years. Wish I hadn't started the darn post in the first place! I did hear the MK Dons Chairman speaking on the radio a couple of months back, and the whole interview was so different to anything we get from our board. They have a real community feeling going on, with disabled teams, junior teams, womens' teams...and a board with a VISION of where they will be going in the next few years. Targets are decided upon and they have reached them every year. It seems to me our target over the last few years was to avoid relegation (did that right, eh?)If our target is to avoid relegation, the bar is set pretty low. Where's the expectation this year? Presumably promotion - and I think Clarke is doing a reasonable job so far. But after that? What happens if we don't get promoted? What happens if we do? Other clubs have plans, targets, leaders with vision and expectations. We just lurch from crisis to calamity and back again!

I'm going to have to sharpen up my sarcasm pen and irony pencil.
