Or maybe not: Posted on the IF by the "official" rumour spreader. My understanding is that the club had agreed to sign Easter until the end of the season at a much reduced wage and Easter was happy with that as he wants to move back nearer to Cardiff. However, his agent then came back wanting a twelve month contract in view of the reduction of his wages and the Directors correctly told him what to do. A perfectly reasonable request I would have thought. If the negotiator on the BOD expect to get the player we desperately need on a six months contract then it looks as though we will be looking at a loan deal.

12 months makes no sense, surely any contract would run till the end of a season?

Perhaps the security of a 12 months contract made sense to Easter? BSS has now confirmed we are in talks with him on Twitter so there's some truth in the rumours.

Hi I am sure you have read the stories which are being circulated which is suggesting that the Bristol Rovers Board has blocked efforts by manager Darrell Clarke to sign a striker such as Jamaine Easter. I wish to clarify for you that this story is totally untrue. The board has made it absolutely clear that we will do all we can to support Darrell. The manager is currently talking to several strikers, their representatives and clubs and every effort is being made to fill this gap depending on their terms and availability. We will continue to support Darrell in his search. My sincere thanks for your support Best wishes Brian SS Brian, Thanks for joining the forum, great to have you on board. COYB!

12 months makes no sense, surely any contract would run till the end of a season? maybe from our point of view, but makes a lot of sense from a players point of view - especially as (if story is true) he is taking a cut in wages. BUT will Ollie let him come to Rovers? - he hasn't showed much effort to help us in the past
