Seeing as Lyle clearly won't be the only signing we make I am very pleased to see him join. He sounds an exciting prospect and provides us with a good option in the absence of Monkhouse and Gos when he's on international duty.
Good luck.

Sounds good, hope he's made of sturdy stuff, he needs it in this league!

I'm a bit confused he's described as a box-to-box player on the OS but a bit further down Darrell Clarke says he's a wide player. Which one is it?

If only Paul Tait was still here... would have been a sweet team.

Such a shame what happened to Browner. One of many such signings by Trollope. Was never used well and in a position where he could shine. A great trainer and put others in the shade for skill. Brown seemed to me to be a little ahead of his time. He really needed to play with 2 ball-winning midfielders in a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3, when most clubs at league 1/2 level were still playing 4-4-2. Same for Jo Kuffour for me, would have been great in the position that Theo Walcott plays for Arsenal. Totally agree. Used to go to watch training quite often and he was a stand out player on the training pitch. I think he was one of the few who could have benefitted from a better style of football. He has been the consumate professional after what happened. Just got on with his life with no bitter comments. Got him on a 5 yr contract from Fulham if memory serves me well. Maybe not physical enough for lower league games

If only Paul Tait was still here... would have been a sweet team. Just so long as neither carried on like they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths

Now recalling a sweet Wayne Brown strike, on a freeeezing night away at Charlton in a 1-1 draw! One of very few highlights in the relegation year!

His performance against Charlton down the Mem during the relegation season was another one of his few highlights. Took advantage of them going down to 10 men and he ran them ragged as we brought it back to 2-2 from 2-0 down. Still to this day though unsure how Hoskins missed the chance at the end to see us win it.

Thinking about it he was brilliant in THAT game against Bournemouth until McCracken got sent off. Bournemouth defenders couldn't deal with him and then for some reason in the shuffle round he was forced to play Left Back I think it was.

We played some good football that day, if we had won we would have stayed up, and Campbell and Hinton would have got the job. (I wish they had any instead of that gobs**te Buckle)
