I know, it must be hard, it doesn't really fit the narrative on this forum, does it? Is that the mind set of most Rovers fans who have been waiting 30 years for a stadium "Believe it when I see it"
This strengthens our hand, but it's hard to see Sainsbury's just handing over the dosh isn't it?
Hard for you.

Another hurdle successfully jumped. What's next? Sainsbury's go bankrupt, Danielle Radice chains herself to the Memorial Gates preventing any access to Rovers home games all season - Rovers go bankrupt as a result. We find out it's all been a bad dream like Bobby Ewing being killed off in Dallas then stepping out of the shower and Rovers were actually in the Premier League all along. The possibilities are endless! I have that same dream, but it also has Mickey Barrett crossing for Geoff Bradford to score in the soft furnishings at IKEA. I'll lay off that blue cheese from now on.

Hard for you. What is hard for me?
Like many others (not just ones on this forum) I have been told for years and years about stadium projects and yet none have ever materialised. This one hasn't yet either
I do hope we get our money, and we can build the stadium (not least because I have no idea what happens if we don't).
Simple question and you like avoiding these, Do you honestly think Sainsbury's are just going to hand over the money? I hope they do, but can't see it
I hope and want to be in a new stadium in the next couple of years barring complications
Even if we do get the money, what is going to happen about the extra costs? Are we still suing Sainsbury's for those?

GTFI !! Now, we wait & see if Sainsburys are going to keep to their part of the agreement. If so then I am happy to apologise to those I've argued with and NH. Feeling pretty damned happy right now but holding back the champagne

Dear God, I hope so. If the sale does happen then I will, in person, apologise to NH but only for that and not the debacle that led us into the Bananrama conference Who cares what you do? Is there really any need for this? grow up man (not you jools).

7-2 in favour Now the fun and games begin. So Sainsbury's what do you want to give us? This will still run and run! Delaying / spoiling tactics I'm sure. Sainsburys won't care if BRFC dies in the meantime if it saves them and their shareholders a few £m Surely, they are now obligated and legally, to keep to the terms as per the contract. I didn't out a question mark as it should be a factual statement I know they wanted out but that is surely irrelevant as they put the winning bid in and, should they attempt to back out, we could sue for the monies owed and damages ongoing. GTFI. UTFG.

Yes. They are contracted to do this. You can't see it, because you don't want too. and no idea what you are talking about.

I think somewhere along the line a compensation payment of about £10 mill will be made and another supermarket chain will step in and buy the mem for a lot less than Sainsburys

GTFI !! Now, we wait & see if Sainsburys are going to keep to their part of the agreement. If so then I am happy to apologise to those I've argued with and NH. Feeling pretty damned happy right now but holding back the champagne At the end of the day Sainsbury's primary responsibility is to their shareholders and I'm sure if they don't want to spend money on the Mem they will do all they can to avoid doing so. They could try and force a prolonged legal battle and hope that the legal costs of such a dispute are not tenable to us and we withdraw before the legal bills cripple us. Or they may have another reason to declare that they are not in breach of contract (depends how 'watertight' that contract is I guess), either way I suspect this is far from the end of the story. So we may have won a battle today, there's still a long way to go in the war. I genuinely hope that this is resolved firmly in Rovers favour, we get the cash, and the UWE is built asap. Nobody would be happier with that than me. But I will mute my celebrations for now - I'm pleased but not ecstatic!

You are such a XXXXXX Get a life buddy. Your derision of life long fans is well noted. I just laugh when I see your petty attempts to get a rise. You fail each time & I am only replying to tell you this. There are people who have put in so much more in years of support and financially than you yet you feel somehow superior from being a shop worker. Boy, you are a tragic person Paul. I feel pity for you, I really do.

Not that I expect it as it wouldn't be very good business practice, but are we even in Sainsbury's calculations if they don't believe they have a contract with us? They've set aside £31m today for some new store development(s) which is no longer going ahread, surely there's a reasonable chance that's the Mem store given the sum involved? According to their interim accounts presentation they have set aside £628m for impairment and onerous contract charge hence a loss before tax of £290m. Not sure where the £31m figure comes from TG. Future development is around smaller convenience style stores at the expense of supermarket builds.

Are you Nick's confidant then as he obviously tells you more than he does the Board including BSS and other shareholders.....

I think 99.9 % see Paul in the same light anyway and I will avoid replying henceforth as it obviously gives him the little joy he gets from the poor attempt at being a WUM. Thing is, a decent WUM can be funny, look at JONOGAS. I really do pity the guy.

Out of interest is anyone able to paste a link to a statement from Sainsburys saying they have/had no intention of buying the Mem following the change in shopping habits of the general public with large stores allegedly no longer viable. Seems to have been lots of assumptions based on hearsay on forums and social media assuming that Sainsburys have every intention of trying to wriggle out of purchasing the Mem but cant recall reading any hint of this from Sainsburys themselves...
