I was kind of hoping Rovers would be home on September 13th as I would have had a valid excuse to miss the game, but City got that weekend

So then everyone, the moment of doom is 24 hours away. I think this will be the real moment where it all sinks in for me, although I do feel quite prepared for it. I dread to ask, but does anyone want anyone specifically for the first game...? I was having a look earlier and the Conference have some very odd habits. For example, FGR played Alfreton twice by the start of October last season, but didn't play Southport at all till February. I wouldn't be surprised if we are at home for the first game, and I also wouldn't be surprised if it was live on BT. Eastleigh or Forest Green away would be my bet. Possibly Torquay.

I think Balloon Fiesta/City being away means we'll be at home, but I agree it will probably be against someone highly tipped. Really might not help us, but you have to hope someone like Eastleigh will still have the same potential to have 'gelling' problems, just as we will.

Grief is a strange thing. When something terrible happens there is an immediate reaction; but often accompanied by comments such as, "He/She is taking it well." There are tears and condolences but often the shock of the event somehow numbs the senses. Then, often some time later, a trigger, often quite trivial, brings forth all the grief. The release of the fixture list will bring home to many the true nature of our 'loss'.

This upcoming fixture list seems to be a bit of a movable feast, are we almost there yet?

Luton Town's first ever Conference home game was on 11 August 2009 v Mansfield Town they won 4–1 watched by 7,295. Can Rovers beat that gate figure on 9 August ?

I'm not believing anything until 3pm, but Grimsby at home followed by Barnet away would be the exact sort of start we really don't want.

I guess it depends on who we get first game, would be good to see 8,000 but cant sadly see it, I watched baths two seasons in the conference and not many clubs take many away, only newport and luton brought more than 500, Grimsby had 250+ but some teams bring one coach so unless we are top five cant see more than five thousand making the effort

I just want a winning start. Grimsby and Barnet would literally be the polar opposite of what I'd pick, but I can see it happening

I still feel confident that we can do the job against these 2 teams. Gona be tough but I'd be happy to get them out the way.

_____
Rovers start against Grimsby at home according to Conference website
Go to Barnet on Tuesday August 12
Altrincham away Sat 16th August
Telford home August 23
Forest Green Rovers away on August bank holiday Monday
Halifax Town home on August 30
Torquay away on Boxing Day
Er. . . Torquay United at home on New Years day after playing them at their place on Boxing Day
Appears fixtures have been released an hour early on the Conference website by accident. Still haven't received official confirmation yet

DC is not a fan of overnight stays which i'm glad of because these last few seasons have seen shocking results and some sh** performances when they have traveled up on a Friday for game the next day.
