The 27-year-old took 90 minutes to secure victory against the Brazilian, who she beat on her way to winning the San Diego Open earlier this month. Boulter reached the last 16 of the tournament for the first time and will now face Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/24/08/82827041-13232605-image-a-1_1711270380238.jpgIt was a dominant display from the British No 1, with Boulter winning easily in straight sets

Miami Open: Britain's Katie Boulter loses to Victoria Azarenka in fourth round..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/1024/cpsprodpb/5F8A/production/_132985442_boulter.jpgBritish number one Katie Boulter is out of the Miami Open after a fourth-round defeat by Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. The 27-year-old, ranked 30th in the world, lost 7-5 6-1. Boulter had made it through to the fourth round of the tournament for the first time by beating Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets. The Briton broke back to deny Azarenka as the former world number one served for the first set, before saving two break points to level the opener at 5-5. But three-time Miami champion Azarenka struck again two games later, breaking Boulter to love to clinch a tight first set. The second set proved much more one-sided as Azarenka stormed into a 5-0 lead with a double break before Boulter was able to get on the board in the sixth game. Boulter managed to save two match points but she could not deny Azarenka, whose upcoming opponent Putintseva beat Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina 6-4 7-6 (7-5).

Andy Murray out for 'extended period' with ankle injury..i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk/incoming/article32432255.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/0_Miami-Open-Presented-by-Itau-2024-Day-9.jpgAndy Murray says he will be out for "an extended period" following the ankle injury he sustained at the Miami Open. The Briton, 36, received treatment following the incident late in the third set of his dramatic 5-7 7-5 7-6 (7-5) defeat by Tomas Machac on Sunday. He confirmed he suffered a full rupture of his anterior talofibular ligament and near full-thickness rupture of his calcaneofibular ligament. Murray will now see a specialist to "determine the next steps". The three-time major winner, who returned from hip resurfacing surgery in 2019, said: "[It] goes without saying this is a tough one to take." But he added: "I'll be back with one hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right." Earlier this year, Murray, who will turn 37 in May, said he is not planning to "play much past this summer" but hopes to compete at another Olympic Games before he retires. He indicated he wanted to make one final appearance at the French Open, which starts at Roland Garros on 26 May. Wimbledon, where he is a two-time champion, begins on 1 July, while the Olympics take place in Paris from 26 July. Direct entry into the Olympic men's singles will be given to the top 56 players in the ATP rankings on 10 June. However, Murray could be placed outside & still qualify because of withdrawals & he could also be given a spot as a former Olympic champion & Grand Slam winner. His run to the last 32 in Miami has taken him to 59th in the live rankings before this injury setback.

Billie Jean King Cup 2024 qualifying: Great Britain take on France in bid for finals spot..upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Billie_Jean_King_Cup_Logo.svg/240px-Billie_Jean_King_Cup_Logo.svg.pngGreat Britain face France on Friday and Saturday as they bid for a spot in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Great Britain reached the semi-finals of the 2022 competition but did not reach the last eight last year, having lost their qualifier against France. The tie takes place on an indoor clay-court in Le Portel in northern France. Britain will be led by Katie Boulter, with Emma Raducanu, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson and Fran Jones completing Anne Keothavong's team. The two nations have played each other four times, with both Great Britain and France winning twice. Britain beat Sweden 3-1 on home turf in November to secure their place in this year's qualifiers. How does the Billie Jean King Cup work? Each play-off tie is a best-of-five series, with four singles matches followed by a deciding doubles match if needed. The winner progresses to November's Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Spain. Twelve nations compete in the Finals event - eight qualifiers, last year's finalists Canada and Italy, host nation Spain and a wildcard. The loser of the tie in France will compete in Group I events in 2025. Who is playing for Great Britain? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/Boulter_RGQ23.jpg/200px-Boulter_RGQ23.jpgKatie Boulter, the British number one and world number 28, is the highest-ranked player in Anne Keothavong's side. Boulter recently won the biggest title of her career at March's San Diego Open and broke into the world's top 30 for the time. Former US Open champion Raducanu is also in line to play in her first BJK Cup event since April as she works her way back from a lengthy injury lay-off. They are joined by Dart, who clinched Britain's spot in the qualifiers, and Watson, who will be appearing in her 36th tie. Jones was a late addition to the squad, fresh from reaching her first WTA 125 final on the clay courts in Mexico. Who is playing for France?World number 23 Caroline Garcia is the highest-ranked player in either team, and has previously been as high as number five in the world. Garcia is an experienced singles and doubles player, having won two Grand Slam doubles titles alongside team-mate Kristina Mladenovic. Mladenovic herself is a former world number one in doubles and was previously a top-10 singles player.

Emma Raducanu: Briton breezes past Angelique Kerber in Stuttgart Open first round.. media.bastillepost.com/wp-content/uploads/global/2022/04/00390349fbcd0e98a6eab914d9b139b8-503dcc1a363b41979448268a5b98de13-704x469.jpgBritain's Emma Raducanu continued her revival in form with a straight-set win over Angelique Kerber in the Stuttgart Open first round. Raducanu was rarely troubled by the former world number one and wrapped up a 6-1 6-2 win in one hour 26 minutes. It was the 21-year-old's third win in a week after she won both her matches to help Britain beat France in the Billie Jean King Cup at the weekend. Raducanu will play Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in next round. "It was very difficult to play Angie because she has so much history behind her," said Raducanu. "You are not just playing Angelique Kerber, you are playing the person who has achieved all those amazing results. "It wasn't the prettiest but I just focused on the next point and did not get too bogged down. So I'm happy to have got through that." Both players entered the tournament as wildcards, with Raducanu dropping to 303 in the world after having surgery on both wrists last year. Three-time major winner Kerber meanwhile only returned to the tour in December after 18 months out following the birth of her first child. Raducanu broke serve three times in a dominant first set, taking it 6-2 in just 41 minutes, before breaking in the first game of the second. Kerber, 36, was able to break back immediately but then began to tire and an increasingly confident Raducanu was able to reel off four consecutive games to seal victory.

Emma Raducanu beats Czech wonderkid Linda Noskova to set up quarter-final clash with world No 1 Iga Swiatek in Stuttgart..by Matthew Lambert

Raducanu is unbeaten on the red dirt this season and has won four matches in a row for the first time since her US Open title in 2021. 'I am not too surprised as I have been working really hard and I knew it was only a matter of time,' said the 21-year-old after her 6-0, 7-5 win. 'I don't think this was my best, I still have a long way to go.' Noskova is world No 31 at the age of just 19 but she was outrun and outmanoeuvred.

Stuttgart Open: Emma Raducanu falls to top seed Iga Swiatek in quarter-finals..firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/CC_Express_20220422_1123010.jpgEmma Raducanu has been knocked out of the Stuttgart Open despite a spirited quarter-final display against world number one Iga Swiatek. Britain's Raducanu, who is continuing her comeback from an injury-hit 2023 season, lost 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 against the clay-court specialist from Poland. Swiatek is on a 10-match winning run in Stuttgart, having won the last two editions of the WTA 500 tournament. Raducanu, 21, has enjoyed a return to form over the past week, helping Britain beat France in the Billie Jean King Cup at the weekend before wins against three-time major winner Angelique Kerber and Linda Noskova. Her run to the quarter-finals in Stuttgart will see her rise up the world rankings after dropping to 303rd following wrist and ankle operations in 2023. Asked if she thought Raducanu can return to the top level of the sport, Swiatek said: "I hope she will be able to do it because for sure she has the game for it." Raducanu enjoyed a dream start against Swiatek, 22, fighting back from 40-0 down to break the defending champion's opening service game. The four-time major winner broke back immediately and continued to threaten Raducanu's serve throughout the first set, but the Briton held firm to force a tie-break. Swiatek raced through the tie-break before striking the first blow in the second set on her way to a 3-1 lead as a tumble onto the clay floor seemed to momentarily dent Raducanu's confidence. The 2021 US Open champion regained her composure to divert three break points in the fifth game, but the single break of serve in the second set proved enough for Swiatek to wrap up the win after a gruelling two hours and four minutes on court. "It was a pretty intense match so I am happy I was able to keep the intensity even though we played tough games for over two hours," Swiatek said. "It wasn't easy, I had a lot of break points that I couldn't convert." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/19/22/83868675-13329203-The_British_talent_has_been_plagued_by_injury_but_is_finding_mom-a-2_1713563872551.jpg

Barcelona Open: Britain's Cameron Norrie beaten by Tomas Martin Etcheverry in quarter-finals..images.tennis.com/image/private/t_16-9_1920/f_auto/v1713445241/tenniscom-prd/smjuuslgj1yqikodzqbe.jpgCameron Norrie missed out on a semi-final spot at the Barcelona Open with defeat by Tomas Martin Etcheverry. British number one Norrie, 31st in the world, sits just one place lower than Etcheverry in the ATP rankings. There was little to separate the pair, but the Argentine stormed through the tie-breaks to win 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-1). British number two Jack Draper also fell at the quarter-final stage of the Bavarian International, losing to American third seed Taylor Fritz. Fritz fought back from a set down to claim a 4-6 6-3 7-6 (7-1) victory and will face Chile's Cristian Garin after the world number 106 knocked out German top seed Alexander Zverev with a 6-4 6-4 win.

The British number two fought back from a set down to earn a 4-6 6-3 7-5 victory and will face Spain's Cristina Bucsa in the first round. Raducanu will meet Argentine qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle in her first-round encounter on Wednesday. The 21-year-old was set to play Karolina Pliskova in the opening round, but the former world number one pulled out of the tournament because of a wrist injury. British number one Boulter, 27, will miss the first round and will meet the winner of the match between American wildcard Robin Montgomery and Russia's Elina Avanesyan in the second.

Emma Raducanu told she 'didn't show up' in heavy Madrid Open loss after fortunate draw..By Felix Keith, Sports Reporter.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/article32663716.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_GettyImages-2149991622.jpgAn exhausted Emma Raducanu was brought back down to earth with a bump after being knocked out of the Madrid Open in the first round. Raducanu arrived in Madrid in good spirits after victories over Angelique Kerber and Linda Noskova at the Stuttgart Open. The 21-year-old Brit is on the comeback trail after a nightmare 2023 which included wrist and ankle operations and she was given a reminder of the brutal nature of professional tennis on Wednesday. She was beaten 6-2, 6-2 by qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle, who had to come through two qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. Raducanu had originally been drawn to face Karolina Pliskova, but the former world number one withdrew due to injury, presenting her with the world No.82 instead. The 2021 US Open champion could not make the most of the favourable draw and was broken six times on the way to her heaviest defeat in terms of games won since Stuttgart 2023. Raducanu had dropped to 303rd in the WTA rankings last year and is now up to No.221 following her successes in Stuttgart and in beating Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry in the BJK Cup earlier this month. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/article32663733.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-2149989923.jpgBut her BJK Cup captain Anne Keothavong admitted the defeat was a bump in the road. She said: "I don't think you can over-analyse the tennis. Emma the performer did not show up today. Credit to her opponent, who came out with the fire and the energy. She was the one who looked up for it and was ready for the fight." Raducanu herself admitted that she did not have the physical capacity to compete after a tiring period of matches. "I'm going to recharge a bit,” she said. “From the performance today it was very clear that mentally and emotionally, I was exhausted. It's a shame, but I guess the sport is just pretty brutal." Speaking before the match, Raducanu had warned she is not at full fitness yet. “I’m trying to learn how to manage energy levels,” she explained. “I’m not going to deny that I am tired. But I think that’s it just accepting that you’re not going to feel 100 per cent and try to save everything for the fight, because the mental side can get you over the line.” Raducanu wasn’t the only Brit to endure a difficult day in Madrid, with Harriet Dart following her in being knocked out in the first round, losing 6-4, 6-4 to Cristina Bucsa. Dart had won two qualifying matches to reach the main draw and that appeared to take its toll as she surrendered a 4-0 lead in the second set, losing six games in a row to fall to a straight-sets defeat.

Novak Djokovic is set to Miss Wimbledon after undergoing knee surgery..by Matthew Lamberti.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/05/11/85738503-13497039-image-a-19_1717582788664.jpgThe 37-year-old withdrew from Roland Garros on Tuesday with a knee injury and made the quick decision to have an operation. The surgery is understood to have gone well and indications are the meniscus damage was not severe. Wimbledon begins on July 1st and the best-case scenario for Djokovic’s recovery time is three weeks. That would theoretically give him a chance of playing the Championships, but once time is factored in for recovering his match fitness and adjusting to the grass — a surface that puts a high degree of strain on the knees — it looks impossible, even for a man with his extraordinary powers of physical recovery. Djokovic will instead target the Olympics, which begin on July 27th back here at Roland Garros. A gold medal is the only thing missing from his collection and the Paris Games have always been Djokovic’s biggest goal this year. This is only the second surgery of the Serb’s career. A devout believer in natural healing, he claimed to have cried with guilt for days after having an elbow operation in 2018. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/05/11/85738573-13497039-image-a-20_1717582792038.jpgIt took Djokovic two years of pain and indecision to bring himself to fix that elbow — the fact he went under the knife less than 48 hours after this knee injury indicates how eager he is to be fit for the Olympics. If Djokovic can make a full recovery, there is no reason why he cannot play on for several years. But there is recent evidence that Carlos Alcaraz and, particularly, new world No 1 Jannik Sinner have the beating of the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Those two, who meet in a much-anticipated semi-final here in Paris on Friday, are only going to get better. It feels the game is finally leaving the greatest generation in history behind. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/05/11/85738575-13497039-image-a-21_1717582795263.jpg

Emotional Rafael Nadal suffers first-round defeat on likely French Open farewell..By Daniel Orme, Sports Writer.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32904121.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/2_GettyImages-2154899397.jpgTennis icon Rafael Nadal struggled to speak after potentially saying goodbye to the French Open with a first-round exit. The Spaniard was given a testing draw and came up against Alexander Zverev on Monday afternoon. However, he struggled to find a way beyond his opponent - who secured a 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 success - despite a battling display. Speaking after his defeat, the 37-year-old said: "It is difficult for me to talk, I don't know if it's the last time I'll be here in front of all of you. Honestly, I am not sure. If it is, then you have been amazing. The feelings I have today are difficult to describe in words. It is the place I love the most. "I have to congratulate Sasha for this great match. I really wish you all the best in this tournament. 2022 was a tough moment for you so you deserve it. "I have been going through a very tough two years in terms of injuries. I went all through these processes with the dream to be back here. The first round wasn't ideal. I was competitive and I had chances but it was difficult against a player as good as Sasha. "It's hard to say about the future. I am travelling with my family and I am having fun. The body is feeling better than it did two months ago. Maybe in two months I say it's enough. That is something I don't feel yet. I hope to be back here for the Olympics, that motivates me. I really hope to be well prepared. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32904124.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-2154391772.jpg"The amount of feelings I had on this court throughout my career, I didn't think I would be here almost 38 with all of the success. It has been a very beautiful process. All the people who are in Roland Garros helping me since I came here and the support of my people. "I can't thank them all enough. The feelings you made me feel here are unforgettable, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see you again, but I don't know." Despite his win, Zverev also made sure to pay credit to his legendary opponent, who looks set to bow out this year after amassing an eye-watering 14 victories at Roland Garros. He said: "I don't know what to say. Thank you Rafa from all of the tennis world. “It is such a great honour. I've watched Rafa play all my childhood and I was lucky enough to play him two times on this beautiful court. Today is not my moment, it is Rafa's moment. I'm not going to speak much."

Andy Murray considers surprise Wimbledon move after French Open exit..by Felix Keith, Sports Reporter.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/article32938845.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_GettyImages-1926369767.jpgAndy Murray is considering playing doubles with his brother Jamie at what is likely to be his farewell to Wimbledon this summer. Murray paired up with Dan Evans at the French Open, but suffered a first-round exit at the hands of Thiago Seyboth Wild and Sebastian Baez, who won two tie-breaks to take the match 7-6 (6) 7-6 (3). The doubles defeat followed another in straight sets against Stan Wawrinka in the first round of the singles. The 37-year-old has been playing at Roland Garros after recovering ahead of schedule from damaged ankle ligaments and is still trying to find his best tennis. He is gearing up for what is expected to be his final shot at Wimbledon next month before a potential retirement after the Olympic Games in Paris. Murray won the Davis Cup alongside his elder sibling and has revealed that they are considering a reunion for Wimbledon, which starts on July 1 in SW19. “I may do, yeah. I’m not 100 per cent sure yet,” he said. “My brother doesn’t have a partner for Wimbledon currently. We have spoken a little bit about it. So may do that, but I’m not 100 per cent sure yet. I mean obviously Jamie could also get a good partner, as well. We’ll see what happens, but yeah, we’ll probably decide in the next few days, probably.”
i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/article32938856.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-2155450838.jpg
The three-time Grand Slam champion was disappointed with how things went with Evans, especially considering the tennis at the Olympics will be played at the same venue later this summer. “I guess for both of us it was kind of an opportunity to put our names in the frame to play the Olympics,” he said.
“Me and Dan obviously were hoping to have a good run here. But it wasn’t to be. So I don’t know if we’ll get the opportunity. There’s guys obviously ahead of us in the rankings, and we’ve got good doubles players in the UK. Let’s see what happens.
“It was an opportunity to have a good run and didn’t happen. I don’t regret it. Obviously when you lose, if you could have said, ‘OK, you’re going to lose in the first round’ four days ago, yeah, you would regret sticking around.
“I felt like we had a good chance to do well and we agreed if we were going to play, we would play to try and win the tournament. So no I don’t regret playing at all.
"I have been struggling a little bit with my back the last couple of weeks, so I probably needed a few lighter days anyway. Yeah, I’ll get a chance to get home, start preparing on the grass and hopefully get a few good tournaments there.”

Carlos Alcaraz v Jannik Sinner 'the match everybody wants to watch'..www.atptour.com/-/media/images/news/2024/06/05/15/06/sinner-alcaraz-rivalry-2024-june-2.jpgCarlos Alcaraz has labelled his French Open semi-final against Jannik Sinner as the match "everybody wants to watch". The pair are the highest-ranked players remaining in the men's singles draw following Novak Djokovic's withdrawal. Italy's Sinner, who will become the new world number one on Monday, is on a 12-match winning streak at Grand Slams this year after winning his first major at January's Australian Open. "I love these kind of matches. I love this kind of challenge, to have a really difficult battle against him," said Spain's Alcaraz. He and Sinner will face off on Court Philippe Chatrier - not before 13:30 BST - before Alexander Zverev takes on Casper Ruud in the second semi-final. Regardless of Thursday's results, there will be a new French Open champion lifting the Coupe des Mousquetaires on Sunday. In fact, it will be the first time since 2004 that one of the 'Big Three' - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Djokovic - will not feature in the Roland Garros final.

World number one Swiatek will face Italian 12th seed Jasmine Paolini in Saturday's final. Poland's Swiatek, 23, broke Gauff in the first game of the match and, apart from briefly losing serve in the second set, retained control to win 6-2 6-4. Third seed Gauff saved three match points before Swiatek closed out victory. The 20-year-old American has now lost 11 of her 12 matches against the world number one. "It was intense, especially in the second set but I'm happy," said Swiatek. "I stuck with my tactics, didn't overthink things and just went for it." Paolini, 28, beat unseeded 17-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva 6-3 6-1 in the second semi-final on Thursday. www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2024/06/tennis-iga-swiatek-jasmine-paolini-set-up-french-open-showpiece-after-cruising-through-semi-finals/_jcr_content/par/image_2076638240.dynimg.1200.q75.jpg/v1717697999773/paolini_1120-getty.jpgJasmine Paolini

Tennis star Emma Raducanu splits up with her billionaire boyfriend Carlo Agostinelli..Alesia Fiddler.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/22/85884609-13509517-image-a-12_1717882516872.jpgTennis star Emma Raducanu has split up with her billionaire boyfriend Carlo Agostinelli and has cut ties with him on social media after the whirlwind love affair 'runs its course'. The couple were seen arm-in-arm at Paris Fashion Week in September - confirming their romance. They have reportedly been dating since May last year when the pair first began appearing on each other's Instagram accounts. However, sport sensation Emma, 21, and her 23-year-old boyfriend have unfollowed one another on Instagram, The Sun reported. A source told The Sun: 'Emma has 2.4million followers on Instagram but Carlo is no longer one of them. 'It seems their relationship has run its course.' i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/22/85884607-13509517-image-a-13_1717882519472.jpgThe couple were seen arm-in-arm at Paris Fashion Week in September - confirming their romance Former US Open champ Emma was snapped with Carlo at the Paris Fashion Week where she wore a shimmering silver dress, topped with a navy blazer and dainty black shoes. Meanwhile, Carlo opted for an all-navy ensemble to match the tennis star. The pair were also spotted enjoying a snack after shopping in Whole Foods on Kensington High Street a few weeks earlier. Harrow-educated Carlo is Robert Agostinelli's son, a London-based American private equity dollar billionaire. The couple previously posted photos on their social media and appeared to previously share lavish holidays together in locations including Greece and Mexico. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/22/85037883-13509517-The_tennis_star_has_revealed_that_her_parents_were_pushy_growing-a-14_1717882581136.jpgEmma has insisted in the past that she initially hated the sport which has now made her famous, and only played because her father wanted to but soon learnt to love it. The tennis star praised her parents for driving her around to matches and critiquing her performance but admitted that at times she resented them for not allowing her to hang out with friends. She also revealed that her parents disprove of her having boyfriends and her personal life has been put on the back burner as she tries to maximise her career.

Iga Swiatek WINS the French Open: Polish world No 1 secures her third straight title at Roland-Garros as she thrashes Jasmine Paolini to cement her status as the Queen of Clay..By Matthew Lambert.
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/15/85875557-13508949-image-a-21_1717857567537.jpg Iga Swiatek swept aside Italian first-time major finalist Jasmine Paolini to win her third French Open in a rowThere is a lovely tennis club south east of Roland Garros near the banks of the Seine, and in the clubhouse one wall is completely covered by a picture of Iga Swiatek. It was taken, the barman said, a few weeks ago when she paid them a visit before the French Open. She is Polish, not French, and only turned 23 on the day of her third-round win, but it feels like Swiatek is already part of the tennis fabric of Paris. The world No 1 is creating a dynasty here at Roland Garros. She won her third French open title in a row and fourth in five years with a 6-2, 6-1 dismissal of Italian first-time major finalist Jasmine Paolini. Since her 2019 debut as a 17-year-old schoolgirl, she has only lost two matches here in six visits. She has lost one of her last 29 matches on clay. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/15/85875553-13508949-image-a-23_1717857587772.jpgPaolini arrived with hopes of causing an upset but she was blown away by Swiatek in a one-sided finalPaolini did as well as she could, striking a fine balance between staying true to her steady gameplan and upping the agression. She almost looked as though she might fall over the way she threw all 5ft 4in of herself into her backhand. She was not overawed by the occasion and has showed enough this week to suggest she will win a hell of a lot of clay court matches for the rest of her career against anyone not named Iga Swiatek. Paolini’s coach told her to always keep smiling on court, and we saw that beam which has lit up Roland Garros this fortnight as she served her first ace of the match at the start of the second set. But she was broken regardless and there were signs now that she was overhitting. Game after game disappeared, swallowed up by a merciless Swiatek. On her first match point Swiatek hammered down a big serve and dropped to her knees. Title number four for the young queen of Paris. There will be many more to come. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/08/15/85875555-13508949-image-a-24_1717857647365.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/6/9/34ad3413-7976-43e7-8758-e074a48c7f2e.jpg
