For the first time in 40 years, the Sandgrounders (were they a 60s folk-rock band?) play The Gas. "Southport host the biggest club in the Vanarama Conference on the back of three straight defeats.Despite an indifferent start to the campaign, Rovers arrive at the Merseyrail Community Stadium with four straight wins to their name, including an impressive victory at the weekend against high-flying Woking. Darrell Clark’s team currently sit seventh in the Conference table having been relegated from League Two at the end of last season."www.southportvisiter.co.uk/sport/football/news/ports-chance-halt-slide-against-7822509UTG

I remember seeing them at Eastville in the late 60s. They spent 4 seasons in the old 3rd Division all told. I like their lemon coloured kit. As it's a former league club we should beat them.

(were they a 60s folk-rock band?) Important game today, imo. We need to transfer our home momentum into some consistent away form, asap.

Wouldn't be too upset with a draw to keep the unbeaten run going, but a win would be massive today.

Went to a game up there midweek but 2pm KO I seem to recall. Think it was 73/74 and we won if I recall 2.1. Early KO due to the 3 day week and power cuts. Crowd tiny but quite a few Rovers.

He picked up an injury I think, unless Darrell is using a rotation system. Will have to listen to this while working in an old fashioned sweet shop in Abergavenny today, anybody got a link to the radio station it's on so I can log onto it ? Many thanks in advance

A few days ago I confidently predicted that the 3 points were ours to lose. Well, now we'll see.

Often visit Gilwern near you.Are Abergavenny Thursdays still going only they were on the brink in the summer. I'm pretty certain they are defunct as Monmouth Town AFC use their ground now having been promoted to the Welsh Premier League so needed a bigger 'stadium'. It's called a stadium as it has one covered stand on one side of the ground, in fact it's the only football stadium in Monmouthshire. If you thought Braintree or Eastleigh were bad there is no comparison, think Clevedon Town only worse !
