I believe that the atmosphere and vocal support was never transferred from Twerton Park to the Mem. I'm not certain why that is though, as it was most certainly transferred to Twerton from Eastville. Agreed! Seems to me that fans turn up not expecting to win - therefore there is less expectation, and less excitement. Even in this tinpot league, momentum is gathering, perhaps the fear factor disappearing, and a bit more belief returning! Whilst it's hard to get excited about Conference football, it's still great when our team wins!!! Raise your expectations!!!!

I think that the atmosphere is always better away from home but then thats true of a lot of teams as we tend to stick together and its us against the world.
The problem at home that we have had is that until recently its been pretty boring stuff and as much as we love Rovers the team didnt exactly do anything to excite the fans and stir them up. We never mounted sustained attacks, no-one ran at players, it was just punt it up and hope that Matty could hold the players off without being penalised for committing a foul. A full theatre doesnt give a standing ovation to a poor play and we shouldnt be moaned at for going quiet and introverted when we being served such a dire 90 minutes "entertainment".
As we left the stadium on tuesday , my son actually commented that he couldnt remember the last time we had a player who excited the crowd as much as either Taylor or Martin did.

Thankfully we notched early! So it saved me from hearing the usual 'we are bloody useless' & 'you are clueless Daryll' after 8mins. I know exactly what you mean - old habits die hard for some of our supporters. If we can carry on from Tuesday night, then hopefully they will soon be drowned out by shouts of encouragement.

i was in the blackthorn end tuesday and the atmosphere was brilliant, what part of the ground were you in? ? Blackthorn. Only loud after goals.. very quiet any other time, want it back to how it used to be I've only been to the night matches due to work and I've been behind the team, but I personally have found it very difficult to get enthusiastic watching non-league football.

I believe that the atmosphere and vocal support was never transferred from Twerton Park to the Mem. I'm not certain why that is though, as it was most certainly transferred to Twerton from Eastville. Wingers maybe? Perhaps speedy, tricky wingers didn't transfer from Twerton Park to the Mem? Remember the Eastville Roar would greet one of the many favourites that would surge down the wing: Harold, Kenny Stephens, Mickey Barratt (I've probably missed loads out), and then Twerton we had Percy, Worrell and Lee Archer amongst others. The Mem, who would be in the same category? I'm struggling and can come up with Mark Walters. Perhaps it's the modern game and we've gone away from proper out and out wingers, just playing strikers as wide midfielders. Getting a corner would also get the roar going, probably with justified anticipation it could bring a goal. You also had the South Stand at Eastville stamping on the wooden floor, creating a clap of thunder. Maybe DC bringing wingers into the game at home will help bring the roar back? Dave Martin seems a proper winger and is providing some of the best crosses I've seen for years (for the last few years we've relied on over-lapping full-backs to help on that one), and his corners are again the best I've seen for a long while, with a real prospect of a goal emanating from them.

From where I sit (south stand these days with my 3 little gasheads) it's definitely nothing like as loud as it once was. Don't get me wrong I understand why, but when we are out-sung by the away fans it sucks!!
Let's hope that as the season goes on and the board/management/team prove that we are back in the game, then the passion in us all will reignite. Here hoping!
