Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter, dies aged 79..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/985C/production/_127840093_gettyimages-596968804-1.jpgChristine McVie, who played with Fleetwood Mac and wrote some of their most famous songs, has died aged 79, her family has said. The British singer-songwriter was behind hits including Little Lies, Everywhere, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, and Songbird. She died peacefully at a hospital in the company of her family, a statement said. McVie left Fleetwood Mac after 28 years in 1998 but returned in 2014. The family's statement said "we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally". Born Christine Perfect, McVie married Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie and joined the group in 1971. Fleetwood Mac was one of the world's best known rock bands in the 1970s and '80s. Their 1977 album Rumours - inspired by the break-ups of the McVies and the band's other couple, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - became one of the biggest selling of all time, with more than 40 million copies sold worldwide. McVie was one of eight members of the band inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Really sad news about Christine McVie. Saw Fleetwood Mac in concert at Bercy Paris in 2013, although from memory I don't think McVie was present in the line up. Excellent concert and youtube has a video of "Go Your Own way" from that very concert.

This should never have been allowed to happen. Ever. Under any circumstances. Ever. (Pistols & Thin Lizzy fan).

Jet Black: 'Inspirational' drummer for the Stranglers dies aged 84..
I loved the Stranglers back in my youth and this track 'Skin Deep' has always been my favourite, because of the drums.

Abba's Chiquitita: Guatemala school uses Unicef funds..It is a fact that even many die-hard Abba fans do not know. Despite selling millions of copies over more than four decades, their massive 1979 hit, Chiquitita, doesn't earn the Swedish supergroup a penny. Hardly a day goes by without someone from the 70's music scene shaking off this mortal coil. Very sad. RIP Jeff Beck. Bit of a tongue twister. Jeff Beck, Jet Black, Jeff Beck, Jet Black.

Justin Bieber sells rights to songs for $200m..(£162m)ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/18114/production/_128408589_bieber-gettyimages-1414522669.jpgJustin Bieber has sold his share of the rights to his music to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for a reported $200m (£162m). The firm now owns the pop star's stake in some of the biggest hits of recent years, including Baby and Sorry. Bieber, one of the best-selling artists of the 21st Century, joins a growing group of artists who have cashed out on their catalogues. The move means Hipgnosis will receive a payment every time a song it owns is streamed or used on radio, TV or film. The company - a $1bn venture between financial giant Blackstone and the British Hipgnosis Song Management - acquired Bieber's publishing copyrights to his 290-song back catalogue. It has also acquired his share in the original master recordings of his songs. That includes all of his music released before 31 December 2021. Hipgnosis has not disclosed the terms of the deal, but a source told the news agency AFP it was worth around $200m. Artists are increasingly selling stakes in their work to music funds, although the trend is more common among older artists. In the last two years, music legends Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen both sold back catalogue rights to Sony. Springsteen received a reported $500m (£376m) for the sale of his life's work. I don't know or like any of his music to post a video link...does anyone else like him.
