One of my early downloads in 2001. You're prolly to young to remember the old P2P ... Kazaa, Napster were my favourites ... until the so-called major record labels got them shut down. A couple years later, downloading became legal; it never caught on with me Importantly, the music download 'revolution' on the Internet, gave my generation (old), an opportunity to sample the yoof's taste in 21st century music, at very little cost. And dare I say, given the quality of music released in this millennium, a very marginal gain... You do dare to say epps; I certainly couldn't comment 🤐 I would say, downloading in the early days and 'upgrading' from Windows95 to 98 was ... a challenge. Fun though.

that’s the one I posted in as last Friday nights tune. It tickled you in the right places with the right things? let’s see if I can pluck another out of nowhere then One of my early downloads in 2001. You're prolly to young to remember the old P2P ... What is the yoof taste in 21st century? Here and there occluded by radio 1 playlists and grime of snare drum and vocoder, Sounds, like the opening track in on the January album which hark back to 70’s and 60’s?

First single and it showed, what a stupid song, but also a very relevant comment looking back. Terry Hall was amazing as a front man, then went increasingly soft as his career went on, Colourfield, Terry, Blair and Anouchka.. By the end, FB3 were Terry singing and not a fat lot for the other 2 to do, 5 or 6 good songs of theirs, Our Lips are Sealed is their best IMO. Tunnel of Love is a very clever lyric.

They were Trevor Horn plus Holly Johnson. It gathered momentum because of the ban of Relax. However their TOTP mimed performance of Two Tribes was excellent and stays long in the memory. Number 1 for 9 weeks in a hugely competitive chart. There is an argument to say 1984 was the peak of the record industry for hype, bands and record sales, and pop video's. The Pleasuredome album track at 13 minutes is superb. First 3 singles to hit number 1, the first since Gerry and the Pacemakers, pleaseurdome hit no2 so they didn't break the record. Loved that album. The Power of Love is a good song but again just on pure hype it got to no1. Trevor Horn is all over these songs and was at his best at this point. Two Tribes is an absolute banger. Would just have to add that Trevor Horn's production work on ABC's Lexicon of Love is just brilliant. Slave to the Rhythm by Grace Jones has Horns stamp all over it.

Fun fact (which you probably know): "Our Lips Are Sealed" is a song co-written by Jane Wiedlin, guitarist of The Go-Go's, and Terry Hall... and was a much bigger world-wide hit for The Go-Go's...

I limit my use of search engines (for lots of reasons) and Limewire was the one that had the longest lifetime in P2P. I hate being old.

Would just have to add that Trevor Horn's production work on ABC's Lexicon of Love is just brilliant. Slave to the Rhythm by Grace Jones has Horns stamp all over it. All the things she said is Horny too. . I recall the music press at the time (84) speculated what Frankie would actually sound like without Horn and horns session musicians in background, and the band continued to be intoxicated in fore ground. A similar question was asked about Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches which is suggested Oakenfold made himself whilst the band got drunk. . We know what Horn looks like as a frontman bassist for himself, in a plastic age now long ago, but apart from VKTRS, has he had other big hits for himself? So I thought I would look this question up. And I came across this “Film composer Hans Zimmer makes a brief appearance in the video.” Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Buggles

My 16 year old son loves Stone Roses nothing wrong with that. The best rhythm section around, squires arty guitar over the top of it ...and a manmonkeychild hopping about in front of them. Can your son suggest his favourite roses track, and we can put it up here? So many to choose from, I went for length, it could have been she bangs the drums, waterfall, ten story, (the Beatlesish) shoot you down & bye bye badman. I like the scene in Shawn of the Dead, they need to throw their vinyl collection at the zombie to save themselves, and he won’t throw the Second Coming. “Oh come on surely?” ”ummm ....I kind of like it.” Have you tried the seahorses.

Most characteristic of why their fans like them. Optimism. Life. The youthfulness within us all. Parks the philosophical pessimism of Schopenhauer away in another place gathering dust.
This is football season match day music
