From the o/s . . . Bristol Rovers have today signed free agent Angelo Balanta subject to medical. The 24-year-old winger has signed a deal until the end of the season. Manager Darrell Clarke said: “I am really pleased to bring Angelo to the club, he is a talented player with a good pedigree. “He can play as a left winger or a striker, and will offer us some creativity in the final third. “He is a player who can unlock defences and help us create the goals we have been lacking. Born in Columbia, Balanta moved to England and progressed through the QPR youth system, before breaking into the first team in 2007. He made his first team debut as a substitute in December 2007, and his first start for the club later the same month. In November 2008, Balanta moved on loan to League Two side Wycombe Wanderers for three months. In June 2010 he moved on loan MK Dons for the entire season, before going back for a further two spells with them. After returning to QPR he moved to Yeovil on loan in March 2013, where he saw out the rest of the 2012/13 season. In July 2014 Balanta was released by QPR after seven years with the club. Forgive me if I keep my emotions in order until he actually does a job for us on the pitch.
Too many times I have been burnt with the 'hell of a signing' reference.
Welcome Angelo. Do the business.

On paper he looks a good signing. Fingers crossed he can add that bit extra on the wing/ upfront.

I hate to pour cold water on anyones enthusiasm but he is a left winger,so is Martin and Monkhouse who plays on the right is predominately left footed,we needed a RIGHT winger not another left winger

We live in hope, it's what we do. Always have done, and most probably always will do. Good luck and welcome to BRFC, Angelo.

Very positive, although you can't help be sceptical about it... i.e - Why's he come to us? Why has no-one else snapped him up?
Regardless; we're in a position whereby we need to take risks!
Welcome aboard, all the best.

Just when I thought that there was something to be a bit cheerful about too, we get the first negative post . . . and the player has only just signed.

No, he has the same problem I have, the light is hitting him in an unusual way to emphasise his manly curves. Anyway the last fat useless midfielder was OK for us.

Padstow isn't usually negative to be fair - my first thought was exactly the same - that we need a right winger, but hell, who cares if he does the business! Decent crosses into Brunt or Cunningtom and we could be looking good.

To the tune of 'Una Paloma Blanca':
Ooh, Angelo Balanta; He's like a bird in the sky. Ooh, Angelo Balanta; Over the tackles he'll fly. And no one can take Balanta away.

Not being negative but cannot for the life of me understand the logic of signing yet another left footed player when we already have 2 who can play in that position. As for chewbacca if you got nothing constructive to say try being quiet you make yourself look stupid

I'm hopeful that DC has a cunning plan to integrate Angelo into the team, and get the best from him. But to be realistic, we have to recognise that for whatever reason, players are more than reluctant to come to BRFC. So I would say that the manager has done well on this occasion.

I do agree with Padstow on left wingers, is Gosling good enough for the right?
I really wish we would someone who has banged in 25-30 goals at Conference/North/South level last season without being injured.
