A great defensive display and a well earned point.
We seem to give the ball away far too easily and our inability to create chances combined with the lack of forward options has to be addressed by MT.
I still think we have the makings of a good team and we will see them improve as they get more games together.
Another tough one at Stockport next week, another point there would make it an excellent start to the season.

I'm sorry but this shocking. Rotherham are dire, we look defensively sound, but nothing going forward. Where is our attacking presence? Is McCormick the biggest waste of money we have spent since we spent £250k on Mickey Evans? Didn't we spent £250k on McCormick? Been shocking since he has been here. JCH, reminds me so much of Ronaldo. Everything is about him. Also, Griffith's is going to earn us points. You're watching a different game to me then. We don’t have enough grip of the middle of the park and whilst it is true we have only created a couple of chances they have been good ones. Macca has been inlucky with injuries and Toxic Turd difnt seem to want to pick him when available. Good player in there - needs a run of games to get going again. Looking bright here We didn't show any attacking intent all game,it was just counter attacking. I've not seen anything in McCormick, but you can see he is talented.I guess you could have a point. 4pts from two games is a decent start.

Good point at a difficult place to come. Just about deserved it though Millers would have had a points win in a boxing match. Griffiths will rightly get the plaudits for some excellent saves but my motm Taylor Moore

A solid away point, not to be sniffed at. Rode our luck virtually the whole match, perhaps we could of pinched a goal, but in truth if not for our solid defence & keeper and Rotherham's extremely wasteful finishing it could have been a bit of a hiding. Sigh of relief.

Yes - you are right was counter attacking but we never had enough grip of the middle of the park to do anything else. We don’t have a midfielder enforcer ala Whelan or Coutts in this team to give us that platform. Whilst I’d love one you have to play to the strengths of what you have so counter attacking may be the way we have to go. Done well it can be effective and we had two excellent chances that we didn’t take. One of those goes in then they have to chase the game more and that may create space we can exploit. Thought it eas an OK performance based on solid defence and keeping. Point here is decent imho even if we rode our luck at times

Rotherham United 0-0 Bristol Rovers, The Gas earn second consecutive clean sheet in stalemate..
Match stats: RUFC 0 BRFC 0 - Possession: 52% - 48% - Shots: 20-5 - On Target: 5-1 - Corners: 5-0 - Attendance: 9,414 (611 gas)i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9491027.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_JS342587204.jpgFormer Rotherham boss Matt Taylor’s first return to the club saw his Bristol Rovers team hold on for a goalless draw. The Millers certainly had the better chances but could not convert any to earn a first league win of the season. Christ Tiehi rattled the upright early on after picking up on an incisive pass from Reece James. The Millers cranked up the pressure but Josh Griffiths pulled off a stunning double save to deny both Cameron Humphreys and Sam Nombe. The goalkeeper continued to frustrate the home team when he blocked Nombe’s effort from James’s cross. Isaac Hutchinson had a great chance to net at the other end but his shot was easily gathered by Dillon Phillips. Second half substitute Luke McCormick almost made an instant impact for the away side but he lashed off target from Grant Ward’s cross. Rotherham assumed control again but failed to get the breakthrough. Jamie McCart saw his header rebound off the crossbar and Griffiths kept out Jonson Clarke-Harris’ flicked effort. They came close again when substitute Jordan Hugill’s first touch saw him unleash a powerful volley which just whistled over the bar and the match ended goalless. Report supplied by PA Media.

Just got back ..
To me... What a great day out for a first away match!? Easy journey, nice day, lovely company, great seeing some usual suspects, great Gas voice and a hardy performance that earned us a point - 4 points in 2 games is promotion material!
I do admire from a distance what Rotherham have achieved in the rebuilding of their stadium and staffing it, filling it etc....i fondly remember Millmoor a good old fashioned stadium, old school - but this is modern, easy to navigate, big enough to host a sizable away following with plenty of facilities including parking, and they can generate some noise. Ok, it looks like my Mechano set someone bought me for Xmas in 1980 in places, and there's rust on the tennis bat floodlights....but hey, they have their own steaming media, replay of real events in real time (when it suits them) on a big screen.
Anyhoos, onto some less important things: I thought the 3-4 man defence unit stoic in performance was breached a few times, but the hero of the day, Griffith played as good a goalkeeping game in a Gas shirt, as I think I've ever seen!? Sir, take a bow. Inspirational reaction shot stopping saves. Tbh, he looked cool in warm up (!), and our last bastion in desperate defending easily m o m.
Again, the defence unit looks to have more cohesion and organisation this season. Only 2 league matches in, granted, but the shape and balance you can see what it is set up to do..
We started a pressing game and for the first 20 minutes or so, I thought we passed well, put pressure on, moved well off the ball and defence operated higher up pitch - all without having that sharp point in attack......but very soon after that, perhaps after a Rotherham tweak, they slowly grew into the game. And,on one particular counter attack: hit post, forced us back to defend deeper, and pretty much took charge of the most of the game thereafter...
Mola, Wilson, Taylor Moore, Bilongo had their work cut out...but in first half (in front of us) many firsts to headers clearing and blocking of crosses was a delight to see.
We countered nice move in first half to produce a tame shot at Keep as only real offering until break, but sorry to go back to it, at times it felt like desperate defending and all hands on deck..
Second half after introducing 2 striking subs for 2 strikers, it felt like for like....but in the middle of that we missed the best chance of the whole game out of either side....we really should have scored with LMc deciding to send his love letter way over the bar into the Gas faithful instead of the easier half open net. Such a shame. It would have been something of daylight robbery looting raid - which I hear they like these days around this part of the world and my how would have doth protested. Again.
I thought LT was ran a bit ragged today, and a bit sniffed out of the match.
Nice to see CM come on. Mixed it up physically. Promise still looking promising, especially with the delicious dummy setting up LMc opportunity (that was his last action before subbed). Leyton Orient attack fella inert, but managed to get himself booked for kicking out at fella for no apparent reason apart from frustration. Not sure on Hutch. Tough match for him. Scotty came on and had immediate impact with a brilliant breaking run on left that almost made way into the box...... and ended up back at the keeper!(?) Nice cameo though. Grant Ward played the fab ball in for LMc opportunity and done well keeping the ball in for the counter attack....but in all honesty had a rough day in mid. Ref gave most 50/50 challenges to them, a lot I honestly couldn't see as fouls, just their fella whom was physically bigger fella down first and got the free kick......
......but this is a Steve Evans team, what do you expect? His post match passive aggressive comments made me Chuckle, brother....."battered"......?.....he can't stop talking about his fish and chips, can he?
I wouldn't be so crass to comment anything about his weight or appearance, but hey SE at times we might have wobbled, but we definitely did not fall over.. To you...

Thanks for a decent report,as always o2o2bo2ba. 👍 We battle for every ball and run our socks off, this is excellent. Still not enough chances being created, even at a tough fixture like Millers away,we must do better. Another game and under tons of pressure, we may well concede. Check out Stockports goals at Blackpool yesterday.County have a couple of players with very cute finishing technique. It's great our lads give 100% and hopefully that'll help see them make the necessary improvements. 🏴☠️

just wondering if JCH is out of hospital yet........he certainly made a meal of.....well nothing!! I said this earlier, I'm glad we never got him when we bid a million in January. He reminds me of Ronaldo,in that everything is about him.Freekicks etc... he was the same when he was here.I think he is past his best now. I'd much rather have a part time Martin this season, working along side the promise,of Promise over us being apart of the JCH side show.

just noticed that "Mr Nice guy" Steve Evans.. has been charged with misconduct following their 1-0 defeat at Exeter City, refusing to shake hands with Exeter manager Gary Caldwell at the end of the game ..."clashing with officials" is the term..... not much changes there then!!

Absolutely this 👆 Never looks fully fit to me and always carrying some timber. Wonder if he suffers from a back condition like sciatica? Always seems to be holding his back. If so he has my sympathy. Sciatica is awful

For all the stick Steve Evans gets, he clearly has a grudging respect for our club and has previously been very complimentary about our fanbase and the atmosphere we generate. I didn't even mind when he claimed that Northampton should have been promoted to L1 instead of us, and took it as quite funny banter. As a Glaswegian Scot, he speaks as he finds, has grit, and doesn't take or give any bulls*it, and should be respected for this at least.
