Macron , French President calls a snap election for June 30 following far right astronomical surges in popularity across Euro elections I expect that Macron has already sorted himself a nice job with the EU or NATO. AfD beat Scholz in Germany. Freedom party rampant in Austria. Wilders party goes from one EU seat to seven in Netherlands. People want change, fed up with decades of soggy centrists.

Many French,Germans and Austrians eg are waking up to the fact Islam is a serious and dangerous threat to country and freedom.
The 'fight back' back is gaining momentum.
People from all walks of life are 'fighting ' the invasion .

and this morning the Euro dropped quite significantly. What's the old saying,"the one thing the markets hate the most is instability"? We are certainly in for that as the old "centrist" proposition is being eroded The is something deeply and deliciously ironic that there are many who are celebrating the results of this election, most of whom derided previous incarnations as "undemocratic" You have to laugh

No Oldie. It's the EU institutions that are 'undemocratic'. We all know that the EU Parliament is just a voting shop to rubber stamp proposals from the EU Commission. The actual EU Parliament has no powers. The EU Commission is undemocratic. Nobody is elected to be on the EU Commission. Even the leader of the EU despite being the only person on the ballot, was elected by just seven votes!
What the current EU election votes are showing is that the people are not happy with the way they are being governed, both Nationally and EU wide. The sad truth is that despite the way the people are voting it will not make any real changes within the EU as the EU Parliament has no power. It can only say Yes or No to the EU Commissions proposals. In many way you can compare the EU Parliament to our House of Lord's.

Either way going down that rabbit hole again is pointless

Is it really the right thing to do to just accept the status quo and continue as things are? That seems to be your reasoning. "that's the way it is so just accept it" seems to be what you are saying.

No, please don't put words in my mouth. I am more than frustrated with the current sclerotic politics and the state of our national institution. But what I am not tempted by is the pathetic proposition put forward Farage and Reform. Sadly I have no viable alternatives to suggest so I will vote for the least worse option.
