On reading Rovers were expected to publicise the retained list on Tuesday,I naturally assumed it might actually happen between Wednesday and Friday.
With abit of luck.

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, Bristol Rovers FC can confirm the retained list heading into the 2024/25 campaign.
Seven players who are out of contract will be departing Rovers this summer.
Captain Sam Finley leaves the Club having played 121 games for Rovers since joining in 2021. The midfielder famously captained the Gas in our 7-0 win over Scunthorpe United on the final day of the 2021/22 season, securing our promotion to League One in the most dramatic way possible, and took the armband permanently last summer.
Striker John Marquis also departs, having scored 16 goals in 83 appearances for the Club.
Josh Grant and Lewis Gordon will also move on from Rovers at the expiration of their respective contracts. Midfielder Grant made 102 appearances and scored five goals in a four-year spell with Rovers, while full-back Gordon played 73 times over three years in the blue-and-white quarters.
James Gibbons departs Rovers after three years with the Club. The defender made 48 appearances and spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan with Cambridge United.
Harvey Greenslade, a lifelong Rovers fan who joined the club at Under-7s, and Ryan Jones also leave Rovers at the expiration of their deals this summer.
The Club can confirm that options to extend contracts by one season have been triggered with Chris Martin and Jerry Lawrence.

So it does'nt necessarily mean all others are staying does it? Contract negotiations on going I assume.

Some decent players on the retained list.
Friend will know the quality and type Taylor wants.
Rossitter. Get his signature and our midfield middle looks sorted.
Strong and quick players. Hopefully that type might not cost as much.
I can't remember his name,he played right wing in the Joseph era, very quick player ( I referred to him as Billy Wizz ),JB use to often bring him on off the bench. Left because he was'nt getting enough games.
Anyone know who I mean please?
Edit. It was Harvey Saunders I was thinking of.His speed, awareness and bravery might be appreciated upfront next season. I see he is on the Tranmere Rovers retained list,so not a likely signing.

My Championship Manager experience tells me we are short of a left back and a centre forward or two. I would be looking on the "interested, foreign based" list.

John Marquis had spells of very good form under Joseph.Often getting pushed and kicked by CHs,getting up and doing a job. Chris Martins goal scoring form seemed to knock JM off the radar. We've had worse forwards than John Marquis. Maybe he'll aim for a fc back up north, but Cheltenham Town will be looking for a strike partner for Matt Taylor eg. While I'm at it,I would'nt be surprised to see Gibbons at Cheltenham next time. Both him and DC with the Port Vale connection and not to mention Gibbo was N'hams top scorer after 11 games this season.

We've had worse forwards than John Marquis. Justin Richards for one. Think we actually paid £100,000 for him. Shudder.

He was okay in the box. Did a lot of chasing and all that. But like you say, Martin is a class better and Marquis got a bit lost. I don't think they paired up that well either.

Basel,Gibbo highly rated by Vale fans but N'hams top scorer? ? Think he means Cheltenham. Didn't he score an own goal for them, during the spell at the start of the season when they didn't get the ball in the net themselves, for something like the first 11 games?

Basel,Gibbo highly rated by Vale fans but N'hams top scorer? ? Cheltenham Town. After I think 11 games the only goal the Cotswold Robins had scored, was an og by Gibbons at the Mem,in the U21 Rubbish Cup.Making him "N'hams" top scorer at the time. Edit. N'ham as in Vietnam,a little Cheltenham joke.

A week after signing him Holloway left the club. After a few loan spells, 17 games and 0 goals for BRFC he moved on to Stevenage F.C. Total Career Stats: Played: 450 and Goals: 115
