Nothing new in these theories is there?
Can't say I see anything revolutionary in Als plans.
Does it suggest more fixed signings and less loans?
Edit. Just how good is George and workers at spotting good young players? Are our team of Scouts hard working enough to put the miles in to drive from Bristol - and at late notice - to Ramsgate eg, to check out a player one Tuesday night? Maybe we have Scouts all over the UK?

Our Head of Recruitment, Chris Spendlove, has spent most of his football career coaching youth teams in America and is a very good mate of Barton. There is little to suggest he has the qualities and contacts necessary to be able to identify and recruit undervalued talent. Unless there is a lot more of substance to come from the parts of the interview/press conference which have not yet been revealed I should think that the word “ hopefully” will continue to be overused when we discuss Rovers prospects.

The guy that Barton kicked out, because he could not do keepy ups, and is now at Aldershot.

If you sign an excessive number of players as Rovers did you are bound to hit the jackpot now and again Bas. I think the secret is to take a measured and systematic approach as other successful clubs have done and as Hussain is hinting at. But it still seems a bit airy fairy to me. Without a proper management structure in place, with a qualified CEO and Chief Financial Officer, I doubt there is going to be a seriously costed budget which can be discussed and agreed upon in a mature way with George Friend and Matt Taylor.

Collins signed in June 2021 and Spendlove didn’t join till March 2022 so I guess his successes have been the players signed since then Abdullatif is described as executive Vice President and seems to be running the show alongside his dad with Tom Gorringe, Louise Smith, George Friend and Matt Taylor tagging along behind. That isn’t a formula for success and relying too much on hope, as Rovers usually do, will invariably find the club ending up in a hopeless situation again.

If Mr AlSaeed was hoping that interview might boost season ticket sales or invigorate Gasheads for next season, then I'm afraid that's a C- must try harder result.

I'd just like to hear that we'll build to be stronger each season, that recruitment will be consistent with a club-wide football philosophy that Taylor was recruited to fit in to, and that it's going to be entertaining and exciting all season long.

That's a reasonable interview. No frills but I'd prefer that than creating too great an expectation. Matt Taylor achieved good results at Exeter using both local players and a far less budget that what was given to Barton.
It will take time for the culture to change however Taylor seems smart and a leader with integrity.
Lower expectation and deliver more - looking forward to next season already.

Looking forward to a "reasonable" season then.'Exciting' in a 'bland' kind of way.
Luckily our board are vastly experienced football people and Matt does a lovely interview.
Other FCs will admire us from afar.
This will excite many good upright pillars of Gashead right on community.
We'll hear Thursday on Having A Gas if there's much more "reasonable " or hopefully not unreasonable news from Al.

Check other threads and Bristol Live re Jamie Hedges. He identified Ryan Jones, Collins and Evans.

Check other threads and Bristol Live re Jamie Hedges. He identified Ryan Jones, Collins and Evans. I'm told Andy Mangham played with Collins at a couple of FCs. Clearly Joseph and Andy take much credit for signing Collins.A "jackpot" signing. Credit where credit is due.

But then signing JCH could increase crowds by 1,000 each home game if he continues his scoring form from Peterborough. \
