The only problem was the historical woman commentating, had to turn the volume down as her voice is so shrill. I thought she was ok the 1st time I heard her but maybe we never scored then. But working with "too be honest with you Brookman" is dire. Do you think shrill, shrieking Sheridan would have been appointed to this position if she was a man? Be honest... She shrieks less than Jonathan Pearce..... and some other male football commentators. |

This joyless, tedious box-ticking has to end, and soon - I think people are really getting sick of it, and rightly so. Brookman bleeds blue and white, and this is the reason he is in the commentary box. Radio Bristol should approach Holloway and ask him if he is willing to do media work - would be a great option. Roger Malone was the most cretinous commentator of the lot. He just babbled incoherently for 90 minutes and started summing up with 20 minutes + additional time left. John Motson only got the job because of his working class northern accent (the PC of the day back then). I'd take Sheridan any day of the week before them two, and plenty of other so-called commentators. She may have a shrill voice when she gets excited but at least she gets excited  |

Bachelor’s Degree Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts, General 2:1 Postgraduate Diploma Journalism Distinction Also Senior Parliamentary Communications Officer, ensuring Rt Hon James Heappey, Conservative Government Minister doesn’t get himself into a mess. And very on fleek with her dress sense.  Do you think my usual chat up line “I was a King of Rome you know. Would you like to check out the Crown Jewels” will work for the opening? |

One of the issues that has been run by me by journalist friends, is that journalists are given roles in depts as journalists and not due to an interest in that field. Was it a box ticking female commentator needed exercise? Don't know. I think she's pretty good, it's just the shrillness is a bit too much for my ears and ageing Denon speakers. Brookman is just awful, I did tweet him a while back and politely asked him to stop saying "to be honest with you" as a prefix to everything he says but that didn't work. My main qualm with rad Bristol is they simply don't tell us what's going on. 5 mins of listening to radio 5 and they are ticking over with "20 yards out" "centre circle" "edge of box". There is quite often a goal on radio Bristol and I don't even realise we or the opposition are even in the area. How basic is that for a radio sports commentator. If either of them are reading this, please try to tell us where the ball is and thanks for giving lots of us some listening time. |
