SATURDAY 16th MARCH 2024 - THE FA CUP - QUARTER-FINALS
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 (Aït-Nouri 83, Bueno 88) Coventry City 3 (Simms 53, 90+7, Wright 90+10)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2709/production/_132939990_gettyimages-2082104587-1.jpg Ellis Simms has scored 10 goals in his last eight appearances across all competitions after only netting four times across his first 35 outings for the club.
Report By Simon Stone, BBC Sport at Molineux.Coventry City stunned Wolverhampton Wanderers to reach the FA Cup semi-finals for only the second time in their history thanks to two stoppage-time goals at Molineux. The Championship side led through Ellis Simms' strike until the 83rd minute before falling 2-1 behind after Wolves' own dramatic comeback. But Simms scored again to equalise in the 97th minute and Haji Wright curled in three minutes later to spark wild celebrations. Mark Robins' men thought their dreams of becoming the first team from outside the top flight to win the FA Cup since 1980 had been dashed when Rayan Ait-Nouri and substitute Hugo Bueno struck in the final seven minutes in response to Simms' controversial opener. But from nowhere, Simms got his second when he turned home Bobby Thomas' flick at the far post. Then, with the stadium preparing for extra time, Simms found Wright with a neat lay-off before the 25-year-old found the bottom corner, giving Jose Sa no chance. Robins and his backroom team raced on to the pitch at the final whistle to celebrate his side booking a return to Wembley, where they were beaten by Luton in last season's Championship play-off final, and where they famously defeated Tottenham in 1987 to win the FA Cup. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10602/production/_132947076_coventry_pa.pngHaji Wright scored the winner for Coventry in the 10th minute of stoppage time

SATURDAY 16th MARCH 2024 - THE FA CUP - QUARTER-FINAL 2
Manchester City 2 (Bernardo Silva 13, 31) Newcastle United 0
ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/C32C/production/_132946994_mancity.jpg
Report By Phil McNulty, Chief football writer.Manchester City cruised into the FA Cup semi-finals with a comfortable victory over a jaded and disappointing Newcastle United at Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side remain in contention to repeat last season's historic Treble of Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup, and were barely troubled on a rain-lashed night in Manchester. They are the first side in FA Cup history to reach six successive FA Cup semi-finals, and have reached the last four in seven of Guardiola's eight campaigns in charge. City were in control with a two-goal lead by the break on Saturday, and although both goals had an element of good fortune, they reflected a half in which the holders were dominant with 75% possession. First, Bernardo Silva's shot was deflected up and over Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka by Dan Burn's outstretched leg after 13 minutes, then the Portuguese's effort went in via the head of defender Sven Botman just after the half hour.

Sunday 17th March 2024 - The FA Cup Quarter-Finals
Manchester United 4 (McTominay 10, Antony 87, Rashford 112, Diallo 120+2, sent off 120+3) Liverpool 3 (Mac Allister 44, Salah 45+2, Elloiott 105) AET
Report By Phil McNulty, Chief football writer at Old Trafford.Manchester United kept their trophy hopes alive for this season and ended Liverpool's quest for four trophies with a dramatic extra-time victory in an FA Cup quarter-final classic at Old Trafford. In an incident-packed encounter, it was substitute Amad Diallo who sent Erik ten Hag's side to Wembley with a strike in the dying seconds of the additional period to send the Stretford End wild, the match-winner then being sent off after getting a second yellow card for his celebrations. It summed up everything about this thriller, United manager Ten Hag doing a dance of delight as Diallo's shot flashed past Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher. United desire for a place in the last four at Wembley was illustrated in a fast start which saw them take an early lead, Scott McTominay bundling home from close range in the 10th minute after Kelleher had pushed out Alejandro Garnacho's shot. Kelleher denied McTominay again from close range before the tie was turned on its head as Liverpool scored twice in three minutes on the stroke of half-time to take the lead and stun United. Alexis Mac Allister equalised when his shot was deflected off Kobbie Mainoo, United paying the price for allowing the excellent Jarell Quansah to race forward unchallenged to play in Darwin Nunez. And Mohamed Salah, the regular scourge of United, struck again swiftly with his 13th goal in 14 appearances against them, turning home in front of the Stretford End after Andre Onana saved from Nunez. Liverpool had the better of the opportunities after the break but substitute Antony drew United level three minutes from the end of normal time with a low shot on the turn before Marcus Rashford then somehow steering a simple finish wide with the goal at his mercy to win the game. Substitute Harvey Elliott put Liverpool back in front after 105 minutes, his 20-yard shot taking a crucial touch off substitute Christian Eriksen to swerve tantalisingly out of the reach of Onana. It looked like the game was up for United but Rashford made amends for his earlier miss with another equaliser to set up that sensational finale with Diallo the central figure. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568199-13207287-It_was_McTominay_s_ninth_goal_of_the_season_making_it_the_most_p-a-43_1710701414921.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568189-13207287-Alexis_Mac_Allister_equalised_for_Liverpool_as_he_fired_home_aft-a-44_1710701414933.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568193-13207287-Mohamed_Salah_added_a_second_just_three_minutes_later_to_complet-a-41_1710701414879.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568195-13207287-It_looked_like_Liverpool_had_done_enough_to_reach_the_semi_final-a-45_1710701414939.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568277-13207287-But_when_it_seemed_as_if_they_were_beaten_Antony_fired_in_just_h-a-47_1710701414956.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568523-13207287-Harvey_Elliott_thought_he_had_struck_the_winner_as_his_effort_de-a-48_1710701414969.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568557-13207287-The_loss_meant_Liverpool_s_hopes_of_a_quadruple_in_Jurgen_Klopp_-a-40_1710701414788.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82569123-13207287-It_completed_a_stunning_extra_time_comeback_from_United_after_th-a-49_1710701414973.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568673-13207287-Rashford_made_it_3_3_late_in_extra_time_as_he_finished_cooly_aft-a-36_1710701414787.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568829-13207287-Amad_Diallo_scored_a_121st_minute_winner_to_ensure_United_won_wh-a-50_1710701650568.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82569101-13207287-image-a-38_1710701414788.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/19/82569997-13207287-image-a-19_1710703178096.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/17/18/82568845-13207287-Diallo_was_the_coolest_man_on_the_pitch_as_he_slotted_home_after-a-39_1710701414788.jpg

Starting next season, FA Cup replays will not take place from the first round onwards. Other alterations include:All rounds played on weekends Fourth, fifth and quarter-finals weekends exclusive of EPL games No replays from first round proper Cup final weekend exclusive of Premier League games Final to be played on weekend before last round of Premier League matches Premier League to increase funding to football pyramid After announcing the new FA Cup format, the FA's chief executive Mark Bullingham said: "The Emirates FA Cup is our biggest asset and generates over 60% of our revenue to invest into the game, so it is critical to secure a strong format for the future. "This new agreement between the FA and the Premier League strengthens the Emirates FA Cup and gives this very special tournament exclusive weekends in an increasingly busy calendar. "The new schedule ensures the magic of the Cup is protected and enhanced, while working for the whole of the English game. The longer summer period also allows a much-needed player break before the start of the next season. "We have also agreed new funding for the grassroots game, disability football and the women’s and girls’ game. All football begins at the grassroots, and this is recognised by the Premier League with very welcome additional financial support." ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/4/18/87cdea49-0c9e-4e42-aea7-fe162af266b4.jpgThe FA have said in their announcement of the new FA Cup format that European competitions have contributed to the alterations:"The current format, which has no replays from the fifth round onwards, has been extended throughout the ‘competition proper’ in light of changes to the calendar driven by the expanded Uefa competitions." Henry Winter..The Times' chief football writer on BBC Radio 5 LiveIt’s inevitable and sad. If you look at the concertinaing of the season, Rodri of Manchester City played 70 games for club and country last season. If you look at Phil Foden, who has been absolutely outstanding this season, he could play 67, 68 games this season, and sadly, the FA Cup is being squeezed. That is such a pity because think of some of the great replays we’ve seen down the years - and not simply the sort of glory and excitement it brings to the town of the so-called lesser team, but also financially how important it is. Whether it’s money being put into the training ground, investing in a new pitch, helping get a new striker in for next season - that money is so important. It’s inevitable that replays were going to go but it’s a pity emotionally, historically and financially. "RIP Replays. Another part of the game's great heritage sacrificed for the elite. A famous chapter of the FA Cup scrapbook consigned to the scrapyard. Sad but inevitable. Champions League expanding and the show-me-the-money top clubs don't value the Cup as much, though many of their fans do." Fair Game have commented after the recent announcement that replays will be scrapped in the FA Cup from the 2024-25 season:"Scrapping FA Cup replays from the first round proper deprives lower league clubs of a much-needed source of revenue," they said. "This is a short-sighted move that does nothing to strengthen the game. It is another nail in the coffin for the already crumbling football pyramid." EFL chief executive Trevor Birch has given further reaction to the FA's decision to scrap replays in the FA Cup from next season onwards. He said: "Whilst the League had previously been involved in discussions over the future of the calendar, these were predicated on the agreement of a new financial deal with the Premier League for EFL clubs which has not progressed. "This is frustrating and disappointing given the calendar is a shared asset across football and as we have consistently said a whole game approach is required to find solutions to complex fixture scheduling challenges. "Our domestic calendar has been put under extreme pressure by the expansion of Uefa competitions and ultimately this represents another lost traditional revenue stream for EFL clubs at a time when the financial gap between the biggest clubs and those further down the pyramid is growing bigger than ever. We will now be discussing the implications for EFL clubs and seeking appropriate compensation arrangements."

Do you agree with the decision to scrap FA Cup replays ?Shaun: There is no difference between the FA Cup and the League Cup anymore. They should consider seeding the League Cup, to get more Little v Big team matches in the early rounds to make up for the lack of replays without adding more matchdays. Steve: The FA proving once again that they only seek to benefit the larger clubs in the structure. What a ridiculous idea to scrap FA Cup replays! They have been a traditional part of cup football for centuries and provide much needed revenue for grass roots and communities! Jack: As always the FA and Premier League bend over backwards for 6 clubs whilst ignoring the other 86 and beyond. Shocking. Martin: It's bad news for lower league clubs who benefit from the extra games, particularly away at bigger clubs, but it does have to be balanced with advanced needs from Uefa and Fifa. It may help avoid some player burnout. BT: The magic of the 3rd round was if Bristol Rovers for example got Liverpool at home and drew, just going to Anfield for the replay is like being in the Final itself... Naomi: Terrible decision to ditch FA Cup replays, will only affect the lower league clubs. Getting a draw and a 2nd match against a higher league team can often be as big as a victory. However they try to spin it, this has only been done to cater for the top few PL clubs. James: Scrapping replays only helps the bigger sides. Small teams can't scrap for an away draw to bring the big side home for a nice payday. More reliant on the draw being favourable, and teams drawn unfavourably are going to be less likely to even try. Billy: If they want to make life easier for the large squads in the big 6 teams, why not have the FA Cup decided by a Subbuteo competition instead? It would be no more of a laughing matter than the current situation. Dominic: I don’t agree that scrapping FA Cup replays will only help bigger sides. Often you see a lower league team have a great game against a big club because they unsettle them. But you know if it goes to a replay, the big club won’t have an off-day for a second time. I think the no replay rule adds to the jeopardy, and could allow more lower league teams to progress further in the competition. Joe: Scrapping replays is a bad decision, how many times have we seen the so called giants struggle away and get a draw which gives the small clubs a massive payday which keeps them going for years? Magic of the cup is being lost and the final should be after the league finishes, not the weekend before. Again it's being made to be like a 2nd rate competition when it is meant to be the season closing showpiece. Disappointed with the FA but nothing new there. Charlie: Re scrapping replays, How can the FA/Premier League, say that this benefits the grassroots when these exact matches, each season, could be make or break for the clubs in terms of financials? How much will these clubs get in return? It just screams of the EFL and non-league clubs being looked over, yet again, by the Premier League and FA to suit the big 6, Replays are part of the magic. Nick: Whilst I welcome exclusive weekends for the FA cup, getting rid of replays is a disaster for lower league clubs. Also, the statement says that the summer break will be lengthened. With more PL midweek games and more ECL games how is this going to work? Sounds like a reduction of the PL or PL pulling out of the league cup is coming. Matt: I think the replays being scrapped is a good move. It will make the one off game better and the "smaller" teams can give it more of a go instead of sitting back and hoping for a draw against bigger teams. Teams will still make a good amount of money. MP: I don't understand the negativity on scraping the FA cup replays. I actually think it's best for the smaller clubs. It's near impossible to beat a big team over two games but we all now that anything can happen in a single game. Wouldn't small clubs prefer to advance further in the competition rather than getting a bit more money from a replay. Henry: Scrapping replays was inevitable and needed. Although Smaller teams could miss out on potential trips to Anfield, Old Trafford, etc. However, I think this will increase the likelihood of even more giant killings, as lower/non league sides have got more chance of beating a top side in a one off game over 90/120 minutes. Look at the German Cup for example. Glyn: Very easy to lay the blame squarely at the feet of the FA. However, change has been driven from within Boardrooms and Managers offices from high up the pyramid. The FA & PL must, therefore, also commit to a larger slice of the pot making it's way down the food chain. Mo: If it were up to me I'd: keep FA Cup replays- make the "Champions League" champions only- scrap the Europa League- scrap the Europa Conference League- and bring back the Cup Winners' Cup - Fixes fixture congestion for clubs and the unwatchable amount of football these days for fans. Gary: FA Cup replays provide financial relief for smaller clubs. Larger clubs can utilise huge squads to deal with the extra fixtures. No need to change!

"It's unacceptable to let us play today," he said. "It's impossible, for the health of the players. It's not normal. It's unacceptable. 120 minutes, the emotions of Madrid, the way we lose, honestly. I know this country is special [with the FA Cup] but it's for the health of the players. I don't understand how we survived today." Asked whether he has raised it with authorities: "Do you think demanding will change something? The only power I have I say here. Why don't we play tomorrow. Chelsea, Manchester United, Coventry didn't play midweek. "I thought a lot. I remember two seasons ago we had Dortmund on Wednesday - and Liverpool on Saturday [in the FA Cup semi]. They were 3-0 up at half-time. They destroyed us. "Mentally so tough to recover. Rodri, the way he played today, Kyle, who was injured for a few weeks, I don't understand how they survived. "We want to play football. We love to play football but it's too much. "We defend our trophy. We'll be here. "They killed us on the transition. The game was so tight. extra time, no please." On what he told his players: "Don't fight against your feelings. If you're sad you're sad. If you're disappointed you're disappointed. I'm sad. I'm so down. We played an exceptional game. I said if you're sad play with your sadness."

We conceded in a moment you should not concede. We were not capable of being clinical in front of goal, we had many chances but we did not score. "I think in the game we were a little bit better and deserved more, but it is not about deserving it, it is about being clinical and we were not today." On the missed chances and how to solve it: "I think last Monday we scored six but today we were not capable of scoring even with having maybe more chances and more clear chances to score." On if today demonstrates this season's issues: "No I think today we were playing a very good team in Manchester City. It wasn't easy but we were capable of playing a very good game, competing really well. Looking forward we want to build on this, sometimes you have these sorts of games on your journey and the important thing is to take the positives from it." On the race for European football: "The focus is on the game next Tuesday, there is not too many games to recover and it is going to be another tough game. Of course we need to win in a positive way to try to win more league games and get close to the position of being in Europe."
Report By Phil McNulty, Chief football writer at Wembley. Manchester City bounced back from the disappointment of the Champions League quarter-final exit to Real Madrid as Bernardo Silva's late goal sunk Chelsea at Wembley to seal a place in the FA Cup final. It was redemption for Silva after his poor spot-kick played a key role in City's loss on penalties to Real. The Portuguese midfielder turned in the winner at the far post from Kevin de Bruyne's cross six minutes from time. Chelsea will regret missing a host of chances, nearly all falling to striker Nicolas Jackson, as they suffered another agonising Wembley experience after the extra-time defeat on penalties against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. And Chelsea also feel they were victims of an injustice as they were infuriated that they were not awarded a second-half penalty when Cole Palmer's free-kick struck Jack Grealish's hand in the wall, only for the video assistant referee to rule no offence had taken place. City remain on course for another double of Premier League and FA Cup and will now face either arch-rivals Manchester United or Championship side Coventry City in the final.

Report By Simon Stone..BBC Sport chief football news reporter at Wembley.Manchester United scraped into the FA Cup final on penalties despite throwing away a three-goal lead against Championship side Coventry in an epic semi-final at Wembley. In a very modern-day thriller, United came out on top in a penalty shootout they were losing at one stage. A quite remarkable contest only got that far because Victor Torp's effort in injury time in extra time was ruled out for offside by video assistant referee Peter Bankes. But after Bradley Collins saved United's first kick, from Casemiro, Andre Onana denied Callum O'Hare, then unsettled Ben Sheaf with some verbal jousting - and the Coventry captain missed - allowing Rasmus Hojlund to win it. What the watching United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe made of it would be interesting to know. Thirty-four years ago, Mark Robins' goalscoring heroics in the FA Cup kept Sir Alex Ferguson in a job. Who knows what damage Robins' Coventry side have done to Erik ten Hag's chances of keeping his? United thought they were cruising to a repeat of last season's final with neighbours Manchester City when they led 3-0 thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes. But in front of Ratcliffe, who had completed the London Marathon earlier in the day, co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer and new technical director Jason Wilcox, United imploded and Coventry took full advantage. After Ellis Simms and O'Hare reduced the deficit, Haji Wright kept his nerve in stoppage time to score from the spot and send the game into extra time. For a brief moment, Torp allowed delirious Coventry fans to believe their team were coming back next month to try to emulate the Sky Blue heroes of their 1987 triumph over Tottenham. It was not to be. But when it was all over, it was the Championship players who were taking the acclaim of their fans as Ten Hag and his players rather sheepishly made their way to the dressing rooms. It is only the second time in the competition's history that the same two teams have reached successive finals. Blackburn Rovers beat Queen's Park at Kennington Oval in 1884 and 1885. United will hope to prevent City enjoying similar success after a 13-second opener from Ilkay Gundogan paved the way for a Blues victory 12 months ago. The win keeps alive Ten Hag's hopes of lifting silverware in both his seasons as United manager. Yet the win just brings more questions for him. For an hour, United were dominant and in control, with Casemiro excelling in central defence. Then, not for the first time in recent weeks, they found the self-destruct button and hit it hard. Even for a team who led deep into stoppage time at Brentford and drew, and led deep into stoppage time at Chelsea and lost, this was a new low. And it all coincided with Alejandro Garnacho's departure. The Argentine wideman had to apologise for liking a couple of social media posts in the wake of the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on 13 April, when he had been substituted amid Ten Hag's hints he was not quite fulfilling his role properly. Garnacho did not appear impressed to be replaced at Wembley either and walked slowly to the touchline, although he did at least acknowledge his manager on the way off. It can only be wondered what he was thinking about the carnage in front of him. Simms' first-time effort should have been nothing more than a consolation. Instead, United lost their shape, made rash decisions and found themselves exposed. O'Hare's goal required a huge slice of fortune but he was given too much time to shoot. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was scurrying across the United box in a panic when he got his arm in the way of a cross that would have created a problem for his team anyway, but gave them an even bigger one as the contest went into extra time. This was a day Coventry fans will remember forever, not far behind the epic 1987 final victory. It was made all the more magical because of the pain the club have experienced in recent times, shunted into groundshares with Northampton and Birmingham amid a row with the club's ownership and their landlords. That trauma must have been in many minds as the players applauded their noisy and colourful support at the end. Whilst the United end was virtually empty, thousands of Coventry fans remained and cheered as defender Joel Latibeaudiere gave a TV interview. Robins is not given to displays of emotion and seemed quite calm at the end. But inside, he must be a mixture of pride and agony, knowing how close his side had come to being the first Championship team since Cardiff in 2008 to reach the final.

Ederson to miss title decider and FA Cup final..i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32814376.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/1_Tottenham-Hotspur-v-Manchester-City-Premier-League.jpgManchester City goalkeeper Ederson will miss their Premier League title decider and the FA Cup final because of a fractured eye socket. The 30-year-old Brazil international was unhappy at being replaced after 69 minutes of Tuesday's 2-0 league win at Tottenham following a collision with Spurs' Cristian Romero. Leaders City host West Ham on Sunday, knowing victory - or matching Arsenal's result against Everton - will seal a fourth consecutive title. City meet Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 25th May. Stefan Ortega, who made some key saves after replacing Ederson against Spurs, is set to deputise for the final two games. The German has played in every round of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup over the past two seasons and was likely to feature at Wembley even if Ederson was available.

FA Cup final - watch Manchester City v Manchester United on BBC One..i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32650732.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/2_GettyImages-1495643081.jpgManchester City and Manchester United meet in the FA Cup final for the second successive season on Saturday (3pm kick-off) - a match you can watch live on BBC One. Pep Guardiola's City defeated their neighbours 2-1 in last season's final on their way to a Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Treble. City will clinch a domestic double if they beat United this weekend after being crowned Premier League champions for a historic fourth season in a row. United, who finished 31 points behind City in the table, must win to secure a place in Europe next season. Erik ten Hag's side finished outside the European places in eighth spot but will qualify for the Europa League if they are FA Cup winners. City are looking to become the first club to win back-to-back FA Cups since Arsenal in 2013-14 and 2014-15. United have won the competition 12 times - five more than City - but their last triumph was in 2016. There will be 30 minutes of extra time if necessary and penalties if the scores are still level. This is the first time since 1885 that the FA Cup final will be contested by the same two clubs in consecutive years. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32856021.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-1258430726.jpgFormer Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney will be at Wembley as part of BBC One's live coverage. Rooney captained United when they defeated Crystal Palace in the final eight years ago. Also joining Gary Lineker, an FA Cup winner with Tottenham in 1991, is former England captain Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, who won the FA Cup with Manchester City in 2011. BBC One's live match coverage starts at 1.50pm. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32867403.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_Premier-League-Manchester-United-v-Arsenal-Old-Trafford-Manchester-England-May-2th-2024-Man.jpgBuild-up on BBC One starts at 12 noon when Alex Scott presents Football Focus live from Wembley with guests Nedum Onuoha, the former Manchester City defender, and Dion Dublin, whose former clubs include Manchester United. Jason Mohammad will present highlights on BBC One at 10.35pm BBC Radio 5 Live's coverage is presented by Mark Chapman from 12 noon, with full match commentary from 3pm. In addition, you can watch the final on the BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app, which will also have live text commentary, analysis and reaction from Wembley.

'I want to be here' - Bruno Fernandes on Man Utd ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/5/24/baaaab17-a100-41f3-afa7-859cb45a9fe3.jpg Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has written to club supporters on The Players' Tribune website:"After this difficult season, it is my responsibility to give more. It starts with me. And it starts tomorrow. We have to give everything in this last match against City, and we have to move forward. "I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream. "I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve. "I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here. If you doubt that for a moment, then you just have to look at my Spotify Wrapped, and that will prove it to you…" ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/5/24/d49396c5-c03e-4a9c-b233-773b060ee162.jpgSpeaking to BBC Sport's Simon Stone, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana said: “I arrived as the best goalkeeper in the world and ‘boom’ it went down. It was like ‘what happened?’ “But that is how difficult football is sometimes. It depends if you want to stay down there or stand up and fight. I know what I did to arrive here. I know who I am. I decided to stand up and fight.” On Marcus Rashford: “We are talking about the same player. So now he’s a bad player? No. You can have a bad season or a bad start but the most important thing is how you end. “Rashy, for me, is one of the best players in the world. But he is facing difficulty. It’s not only him and me but the whole club. “But he will come back. I know my killer will score some important goals for us. Hopefully against City he will score two and we win the FA Cup.” More from goalkeeper Andre Onana on Erik ten Hag:
“I’m not here to back him because he’s big enough to back himself but he’s a really good guy, a positive coach and tactically he is good. “If he had all his squad together, it would probably be different for him, for us, the club and the fans." On facing Manchester City in the FA Cup final: “We know how good City are. They are the best team at the moment and we lost twice to them already. “But we are motivated. Beating them wouldn’t make it a successful season. Playing for this club, I don’t think winning the FA Cup is enough. “But it would make things look better. We go there to win.” ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/5/24/2a478045-6910-4ab1-8652-648b30640db9.png
