Just got back... From Ifollow. Got that all wrong! Same old, same old I expect JAB to lay some of the blame at the officials, and maybe there is a small amount of credence with that. But, poor decisions in both boxes have cost us again. An entertaining encounter, though. At half time some if their fans admitted being ahead was a tad luck in balance of play. Anyhoos.. Connor slips and Bodin is in for the first, he's not going to miss that. Woods and I think, Hunt(?) ball watching while header direct from corner finds it's way in... In between, we appeared to play well. Bogarde can't hit the target from 6 years angle, Aaza can't beat the teenage keep 3/4 times. Nice approach play. Nice possession stats, but ultimately we need goals to win matches, defence to defend and no one to do the Port Vale of putting themselves in position of sending off on a yellow. Especially when we have 8 players not available already. Now it's 9. Our results don't appear to be emulating our performances, so I guess we'll take a break and re-go again after tinternational break. Fair play all Gas that travelled. We could hear you. So.....a bit of a break for everyone. I wonder if we can get some fitter for selection in our next encounter, but this is a time when you draw on youth or reserves, isn't it? Well it was in a bygone era.. The lack of youth coming through is a worry. Are there any or has Barton just opted for tried and tested safety first? Personally I thought Oxford were better to watch because they had more spring in their step, an element of surprise in their play, whereas we played chalkboard football with too much sideways passing fear of losing possession football. I expected our goal to be chalked off when their guy seemed to be tripped in the build up, and I think their players did too. One remonstrated with the ref but to no avail. Maybe the iFollow camera angle gave the wrong impression and the guy just lost his balance. Our bench was strangely silent.. Amongst the contestable and questionable decisions the ref made, I thought he got that wrong too. To me it looked like a foul or infringement at least. But I thought the offside for the disallowed goal looked dubious, less so. Hey it's over and we return with nothing. Not a problem. We continue to put in good performances, and a well organised and decent defending Oxford won the spoils of the day. It wasn't our day in either box. When Wael came in, the focus was on youth. T'was the Rovers way, churn out a decent one now and again. Sell and make a couple of £. Apart from Luca, we are struggling on the factory line, and rather would play other teams kids, usually premier ship...... it's the EFL trophy in the back door by proxy!

Even Hoole not getting much game time now. The one I am most disappointed with is Ryan Jones who I think would be a really good player if given a chance. Still at least Taylor and Macca are getting game time. Although neither are home grown they at least younger ones. Feels like we are chasing short term success but are not very good at that either

Exactly that with short term gambles. For me, nail on the head post.

Bristol Rovers’ Joey Barton blasts referee after Oxford United defeat..by Liam Rice Only just heard about the result. I just don't care any more. Ah, it was the officials what done Rovers then. Got it. Barton hasn't laid into one of the team as a scapegoat then. This week, 'tis the officials what done the Gas. When will this endless gobsh*tery end? When will his brainless sycophants see through this crap? Barton is a stain on BRFC. Hopefully it is not an indelible one. At the moment it’s the ref, give it a day or two

Think you will find Oxford manager also blamed ref.

Think you will find Oxford manager also blamed ref. Think that the ref was equally bad for both sides. Thought that their lad was fouled in the lead up to the Collins goal and cannot understand why the lad was sent off for the tackle on Finley.

Speaking to their supporters they said he’d been like that all through his loan there. Ok it is 3 levels below L1 but nothing he can do about that. Saw him in preseason friendly at Melksham and again big gulf in class but he looked the part. Fear he will end up elsewhere and another team will benefit

Former Bristol Rovers favourite reacts to scoring against Gas in defeat at Oxford United..by Daniel Hargraves.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/9009/production/_125337863_billybodinrex1.jpgFormer Bristol Rovers favourite Billy Bodin admitted "it's always nice to get a goal" after scoring against his former side on Saturday afternoon for Oxford United in the Gas' 2-1 defeat at the Kassam Stadium. The winger spent two-and-a-half seasons at the Mem, making 107 appearances whilst scoring 37 goals and providing 17 assists. Thirteen of those goals came in the 2015/16 promotion season as Rovers finished third in League Two to secure back-to-back promotions after the previous campaign's triumph in the Conference play-offs. Now 31, Bodin's celebrations were relatively muted after latching onto a clipped ball from Ruben Rodrigues and gliding past the sliding challenge of Josh Grant to fire a venomous strike past Matt Cox for the opener. However, the winger didn't seem to phased by the fact that his second goal of the season came against a former club, saying: “It’s always nice to get a goal, but whether it’s against your old club or not, it’s just nice to get on the scoresheet and help the team. “As I took a touch, one of the defenders came sliding past and I just managed to get a good contact.” Bodin was full of praise for his head coach after the game, adding: "He always says he never gets too high or too low after a win or a loss, and I think that’s the same with the boys. He’s quite calm in how he comes across and that definitely spreads onto the pitch. "Last season, there would’ve been a lot of panic in that last five or 10 minutes. "The lads are a lot more calm this season when we do come under the cosh like that. The lads know what to do and don’t make stupid mistakes. The red cards were probably a little bit harsh, but that’s part of football." It's still early days in the season but after winning nine out of their first 11 in League One, you would have to expect Manning's men to be up there in the promotion conversation this term with Rovers looking to push themselves into that debate with better form and more success against promotion rivals after the international break. The Gas will now have a fortnight without action after this Saturday's home game against Exeter City was postponed due to international call-ups. Having taken 15 points from their opening 11 matches, it's been a solid start to the campaign for Rovers, although they will feel as though performances have warranted more sizeable rewards. However, clear progress is being made with a run of fixtures to come upon their return that should all be seen as winnable.

What a delightful characterization of fellow gasheads whose opinions may differ from that of your own. Maybe it's that type of language that helps to cause division within the fanbase? Still, what would I know, I'm just a gas head with no brain. Shame that you 'don't care anymore'. Just enough to keep posting on a Rovers forum though😏

Ah well. I wouldn't mind if we were doing well and pushing for promotion, I could understand the sycophancy.

Just enough to keep posting on a Rovers forum though😏 I guess if you are giving 100% unequivocal support to Barton, and choose to ignore his words and actions over the last 2 1/2 years (let alone his entire career) then the epithet "brainless sycophant" would appear appropriate. IMHO. Division within the fanbase? That was caused by the appointment of Barton and his subsequent behaviour. Division wasn't there under DC, GC, the hapless BG, or the short lived tenure of PT. I "care" in as much as I want to keep the Forum going. I pay all the bills. I post when I feel like, it being a free country. So why should the Mods and I keep the site going? We know the Club read it, and it is important to remind them than that a section of the supporters still resent Barton as manager. I feel it is important that the wider footballing community knows that not all BRFC supporters are Barton sycophants. I care about the wider perception of BRFC. The Forum remains fully independent of the Club and supporters are not afraid to post constructive criticism of the owner / manager. Post Number 7659, and unlikely to be my last. Have a lovely day.
