Just got back..
Morning, Gas!
What a great away day yesterday!?
(Unless you were 10 years old smashed out your tree at half time Burberryied up like Jordans lost child!? Nick nick!)
Great to see some of you yesterday....even in the Nell Gwynne, Eldon Arms and Shaven Raven.... what a hoot!
Got soaked because of God's p!SS but that just made the day so much better and many thanks to alpha cabs for their kindness.
Anyhoos onto less important things...
I like the Keep. Maybe dawn of a new era as twilight Belly fades?
Wilson smart and commanding.
Conners needed his stability around him.
Gordon still a bit wary of.... nice to see JG back, who might actually give him a run for his money if he can stay fit.
Aaron dances.
Finley prances.
Luke Thomas finished (what a delicious assist from Brown?) and was a constant threat, but for me, jewel in the crown was Grant Ward.
Wardy, my m o m for his hard work keeping the ball moving, interceptions and always being involved. He must have gotten through some miles?
Pompey obviously a good team but I thought first half we dominated midfield.
Bishop poor finishing let us off the hook, and when they inevitably threw kitchen sink at us, we defended ok.... just that, ok. I always thought a goal was around the corner, not 100% confident, because it felt we were on last ditch defending mode. And no counter options as our break away wasn't fast enough.
Great to see Connor back.... great reception for him.
But we lost the initiative on the match and I suppose with a heavy heart a draw was fair result, especially them being all over us at times in 2nd half, a shared points we'll take with glee because we would have lost that last season - no doubt.
Perhaps the defensive subs contributed to us conceding?
Maybe? ....a bit harsh.
Great effort lads to compete fairly and come away with a deserved point! We outsung their fans some of the time, so we must have been doing something right..?
One last word on safe standing.... excellent effort their from Pompey. Your choice. And everyone gets their own crash barrier. I saw hard of walking using them to stable themselves in getting up, a brilliant idea and the first time used them.
Big thumbs up!
Onto home v Barnsley.....top of the table.....7-0 winners.....what could possibly go wrong?
