In case he signs this week MARTIN FRAISL Born 10.5.1993 Wolfsbach, Austria 6’ 3”; 12st 12 lbs GK Career: 2001 Sportunion Wolfsbach (2010 professional); 2010 USC Seitenstetten(free); July 2012 SV Stierning (free); 1.7.13 Wiener Sportclub (free); 30.6.15 Wiener Neustadt (free) [1,0]; 1.7.15 Wiener Sportclub (loan) [29,0]; 1.1.16 Floridsdorfer AC (free) [62,1]; 18.7.18 Betosani (free) [15,0]; 30.6.19 SV Sandhausen (free) [45,0]; 20.1.21 ADO Den Haag (free) [15,0]; 21.7.21 Schalke 04 (free) [26,0]; 24.8.22 Arminia Bielefeld (free). Having skied competitively and not taken up football in earnest before he was sixteen, tall Austrian goalkeeper Martin Fraisl enjoyed a steady rise through the leagues in his home country before, from 2018, playing abroad. Two games for Wolfsbach, twelve at Seitenstetten and 25 for Stierning preceded an Austrian League début for Wiener Sportclub against Oberwart in September 2013. He played 21 times for Wiener SC in the regional division and 29 times in the second-tier, appearing in a 7-0 victory over Neuberg in March 2015 and the thumping 12-1 home cup defeat to Salzburg in September 2014, for whom the future Manchester United player Marcel Sabitzer scored twice. A loan spell at Neustadt included a second-tier appearance in the 2-0 defeat at Austria Lusternau in September 2025 as well as a cup defeat at Ebreichsdorf. For Floridsdorfer, Fraisl ran up an impressive tally of Liga 2 appearances, was sent off five minutes before half-time in the 3-0 home defeat to St Pölten in April 2016 and notably scored a last-minute equaliser at Kapfenberger in May 2018, when set up by Marco Kröpfl, in a 3-3 draw. Following a spell in Romanian football, he moved to Germany in 2019, making his début against Holstein Kiel in July 2019 and playing in the memorable 4-4 draw at Bochum the following March, Sandhausen scoring two penalties in the final five minutes. During the 2019-20 season he played every minute, until he was substituted in the dying moments of the final game, against Hamburg. Fifteen games for Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie included a début against Emmen and a crushing 5-0 loss at Ajax in March 2021. Fraisl kept eight clean sheets as Schalke won Bundesliga 2 in 2021-22, but he was not retained and moved to Bielefeld where, having first appeared against Eintracht Braunschweig in August 2022, he was in the side defeated 6-0 at Stuttgart in the cup and eventually relegated after losing a two-legged play-off against Wehen Wiesbaden. Club form, though, earned a place in the Austrian squad for four UEFA Nations League matches in the summer of 2022. He has a degree in Sports Management. Martin Fraisl and his partner Michaela Schmetterling have a daughter Mia, born in June 2020, and a son, Martin junior, born in May Wikipedia not the greatest source I know says he's already signed for us

Well we would have to replace a player that creates and scores loads. Also imo AC is worth more cash than CT,so a straight swap is no good. I would love to see "Lurch" back at Rovers but I bet we would find it easier to gain another good CH ,than replace AC.

The Irish Celtic player,Bosun Lawal ( should help keep the Rovers ship in order) ,I assume our Glenn knows about him and his coaching job at Rovers may be another good reason for Bosun to join us on loan.
Cardoso had a loan spell at FC Basel, probably a good egg then.

Celtic talent a loan target for Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth as Barton looks to repeat trick.. Bristol Rovers have enquired about taking Celtic centre-back Bosun Lawal on loan but face competition from League One rivals Portsmouth. Football Insider report that the Gas and Pompey have targeted the 20-year-old, who can also operate in midfield, as he looks set to leave Parkhead for the 2023/24 to gain game time having made just one appearance last season for the Hoops, a three-minute cameo in the Scottish FA Cup. Bristol Live understands that to be accurate and Lawal is a player under consideration but is also one of a number of options being considered in that position and Joey Barton’s priority remains securing a permanent addition in that area of the field. James Wilson and James Connolly have been the Gas’ first-choice pairing throughout pre-season but, beyond that duo, Barton has veteran George Friend and then full-back Luca Hoole and the versatile Josh Grant as his options. As previously reported, Maritimo centre-back Goncalo Cardozo is training with Rovers in Portugal, while Barton is hopeful a deal can eventually be secured to bring Connor Taylor back to the Mem but the club are having to remain patient. A move could therefore be made for Lawal depending on what happens with other targets and if Celtic feel north Bristol is the best destination for his development with Barton having an excellent track record in that area of the field. After having worked with a young Harry Souttar at Fleetwood, Taylor proved a success for Barton in BS7 during the 2021/22 campaign, so too Lewis Gibson last season with the 22-year-old having since moved to Plymouth Argyle. Although Jarell Quansah experienced a mixed time during his spell in the blue and white quarters, the 20-year-old has earned increased minutes over pre-season for Liverpool and his stint at Rovers is viewed within Anfield as being hugely beneficial for his progress. Quansah was signed after Bobby Thomas returned to Burnley and the 22-year-old is reportedly on the verge of a £2m move to Championship Coventry City, as part of negotiations for Sky Blues midfielder Gustavo Hamer. In Barton’s two full seasons at the Mem, Rovers have ensured they’ve had five loan players in their squad and while temporary additions are likely to be made for 2023/24, but the hope is that number won’t have to be reached again to avoid the constant churn and renewal within the dressing room every summer. Lawal, who's been capped by the Republic of Ireland from Under-15 through to U21 level, signed for Celtic in 2021 from Watford having been named the Hornets’ academy Player of the Year and earning the praise of Troy Deeney. He's yet to have made a first-team breakthrough in Glasgow and spent last season playing for the U21s with a feeling the 20-year-old now needs consistent competitive minutes to make the step up. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/article8617143.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1246533124.jpgBosun Lawal in action for Celtic U21s last season

Sounds a great prospect but the way the transfer market has gone this summer I suspect that Pompey would be favourites, they seem to be making a lot of signings. Not that quantity is the same as quality! But Celtic will want any loan going out to to be guaranteed a good number of games and JB may be able to do that. Pompey may not be in position to guarantee games. A lot of ifs and buts there! 😉 JB will surely take his full quota of loans for the season and the better ones will still be hoping for involvement with their home clubs so it may well be that we have to wait until late before we see who we get on loan.

Joe Pigot Ipswich Town to Leyton Orient I feel we should have offered him a deal would be more of a goalscorer than Ryan Loft in my humble opinion.

Apparently Tom Davis, the Everton midfielder is training with Rovers.
Over 150 Premier games and aged 25.
You'd think he'd be a good signing, perhaps especially as Jordan Rossitter is still in recovery.
Anyone 'know' TD?

Tom Davies will command five figure weekly wages from Championship clubs or even abroad.
But I hope he's contributing to other players whilst training with us. I bet the likes of Jerry Lawrence will get some benefit.
Plus he's scouse.

I do wonder why nobody else is taking interest?, or perhaps they are, or it could be a bit of a double publicity stunt bearing in mind that he is out in Portugal at the same time as Rovers visit, don’t think I have ever heard of 150+ Games 25 yro Prem player dropping immediately to L1.

He was linked with a Seria A fc,forgot which one.I don't think there will be many Everton fans that will miss him.He did score a fantastic goal against Chelsea or Man City, that seems to of been his highlight. We've seen 3rd tier players drop down to the 5th or 6th tiers,so maybe him dropping down to us - the Scouse of the West Country - might not be a huge surprise. I would'nt be totally surprised. He played in struggling Everton teams and his 170 or so games came over quite a few seasons. He wants game time and he'll probably have a better chance with us than eg Sheffield Wednesday. He would have to accept a huge pay cut. Probably won't happen but not impossible.

Can't see it happening and will revise my 21st place prediction significantly upwards if it does. From the snippets I have seen he looks a really good player. Wages likely to kill this stone dead

Apparently M'boro may look to loan Josh Coburn out again. On the other forum ( the one that talks about football ),I see some ar'nt bothered if JC cameback, others would like to see him back.
I think him an excellent player and would definitely like to see him back in the Quarters.
