Bristol Rovers set to make former Bristol City defender their first summer signing..by James Piercy.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/111B3/production/_130076007_jameswilsonapril2023rex2.jpgBristol Rovers are closing in on an ambitious swoop for Plymouth Argyle centre-back James Wilson, with the Gas stealing him from under the noses of the League One champions. Bristol Live understands that Wilson is due at The Quarters for a medical this week having agreed on personal terms following an exhaustive pursuit by Rovers who have made him their No1 defensive target this summer. The 34-year-old is out of contract at Home Park this summer and the Gas have presented him with a longer and more financially appealing contract than the one offered to him by Plymouth who could now lose the second major piece of their title-winning side after Niall Ennis joined Blackburn Rovers last month. The move would represent a major coup for Rovers and Joey Barton, with Wilson a dominant League One centre-back who would bring much needed nous, leadership and stability to a defence which was the Gas’ Achilles heel for much of last season. Wilson began his career south of the river at Bristol City after emerging through their academy and still has friends and family based in the city, which has also helped with negotiations which began at the end of last season. Bristol Live has learned that it wasn’t just Barton who was enamoured with the veteran as after Plymouth’s 2-0 win over Rovers at Home Park at the end of April, several members of the Gas hierarchy were in agreement that he was exactly what the team requires to climb up the table.

Bristol Rovers are keen on signing Tranmere Rovers right-back Josh Dacres-Cogley this summer, reports Alan Nixon on Patreon. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/94B1/production/_119056083_shutterstock_editorial_11676248cq.jpgBristol Rovers have identified the League Two man as a potential addition ahead of next season and are the latest team to be linked with the Coventry-born man. Dacres-Cogley, who is 27-years-old, is out of contract at the end of the month and is due to become available on a free transfer as things stand. The Pirates may have to see off competition from fellow third tier clubs to land his signature. The Daily Record reported last month that Port Vale, Burton Albion and Lincoln City are keeping tabs on his situation. He has been on the books at Prenton Park for the past two campaigns and has been a key player for the Merseyside outfit, making 100 appearances in all competitions. Dacres-Cogley would provide useful competition at the back for Bristol Rovers. He has proved his worth in the fourth tier over recent times and a step up a division would be the next natural progression for his career. He rose up through the academy at Birmingham City and went on to play 30 times for their first-team. However, he wasn’t quite able to nail down a regular spot with the Midlands club and moved on to Tranmere after a loan spell away at Crawley Town to gain some experience.

Missed out on Brett Pitman.Signed for Shaftesbury!!! WOW!! Brett Pitman Signs! You dont need us to tell you his numbers, Brett is a prolific goal scorer in every league he has played in. We are SUPER excited to get this one over the line and look forward to welcoming Brett to the squad. Not a great fan of Brett, but no doubting his eye for goal, if he can swing his leg, he will score a goal.

As you reported Rivers...Josh Dacres-Cogley: Bolton Wanderers sign Tranmere Rovers wing-back on two-year deal.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/CD6A/production/_130168525_shutterstock_editorial_13360442az.jpgBolton Wanderers have signed right wing-back Josh Dacres-Cogley on a two-year deal following the end of his contract with Tranmere Rovers. The 27-year-old defender spent the past two seasons with Rovers, playing in all but one league fixture in that time. Dacres-Cogley came through Birmingham City's academy and went on to make nine league appearances for Blues. "When Bolton come to you, you can't turn them down because of the size of the club and the history", he said. "I'm really excited to be here. Bolton is such a massive club, and I can't wait to get started now. "You can sense the energy and you can see that this is a club moving forward. I wanted to be a part of that."

True and his history in goals and scoring is one of the best in the lower leagues and Championship. I’ve said it several times, no Brett P no promotion two seasons back. That cushioned header goal from the edge of the box to salvage a last minute point at Bradford City meant the difference between League 1 and League 2. Pretty sure no one else in our team, or even the whole division, could do that. 👍 UTG!

No doubt about that!, that was another amazing goal, looked unintentional at first glance but it was, he scored a good few for us that I thought would never make the back of the net, but they did.

I remember watching him sign forms on the pitch at AFCB about 20 years ago just before some lower league game. In those days AFCB grasped anything that was positive and even then stories about his scoring were doing the rounds. No one ever thought he’d have the career he did. Equally gifted and infuriating. One if my friends who sat next to me was always moaning about him, really got angry with him being lazy, poor touch at times, throwing his arms about when the pass didn’t come in. Even in the 13/14 season when they got to the promised land he was moaning. But somehow BP would come alive in the box when the ball was bobbing around. Not usually a scorer of great goals but a great goal scorer. Them up in north Dorset, Shaftesbury will have a fun season! 😀😀😀 UTG!

From the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag
“Former Serbian under 21 international Slobodan “ big head” Lob is set to sign for English League 1 side Bristol Rovers. The attacking midfielder who can operate on the far right or far left was released by FC Sins following an incident in a Liga 3 game against Kickers Luzern when he was sent off for stabbing an opponent to death. Sources close to the deal say it will not be affected by Lob’s upcoming appearance before the European Court at The Hague where he is accused of crimes against humility.”

Purely on the blokes football and from what i remember. He's quickish. A penalty taker, nearly all if not all to the GKs left.I think the spot is where most of his goals at ECFC came from. 28 I think,so 'more experienced' ,that is something JB has said he'll look for."Hit the ground running" hopefully. I think ( not sure) he may compete for a place upfront or on flanks.

He left his previous job yesterday, and currently taking a short break in Belarus before joining us.
