Not Rovers, but Harry May scored an incredible goal for Cheltenham today ,in their 0 3 win at Posh. Worth seeing. They’ve signed Alfie’s brother too have they? Alfie looks to be a decent player at this level. Wonder if he’d fancy a move to us if we lose Aaza in the summer?

Luke McCormick (for Collins on 80') - 5Had to endure the embarrassment of being subbed off just eight minutes after coming on, in which time he was booked and gave away a penalty as the Gas looked to be easing their way to victory. Ruthless from Barton.. Brutal from Barton, just brutal... likely a long way back from that for Luke. Been a shadow of the player we had in our first spell and I can’t work out why? Is it the role he is being asked to carry out? Is it the coaching? We know there is a decent player in there but he hasn’t shown it at all this season. Can see him being offloaded in the close season unless something changes

You are right Bas - two excellent goals from May. First one is a worldy. Exquisite first touch to bring the ball down and the vision and technique to lob it over the keeper from miles out. Keeper was well off his line but all the same it is a stunning goal. Second one is none too shabby either

Keeper was well off his line but all the same it is a stunning goal. Second one is none too shabby either He actually volleys the ball and gives it some welly as well as the accuracy. Glos Robin's would be bottom 4 without his goals.A Rovers signing, maybe, but from absolute star player at N'ham,to disciplined fighting for a start at Rovers.Might be too much for Alfie.

Afraid to say and apologies in advance but it's not personal,I think James should of saved FGRs goal, although possibly Quansahs presence unsighted him.
I also think Ellery would of saved it.
Having said that,Belly got down very well for the penalty save and Ellery may of struggled with it.
The goal may of suited Ellerys size. The penalty save suited James size.
Horses for courses.

Just got back..
The Waterloo House was a quaint watering hole...
Another great away day to say you were there at The New Lawn highest attendance as well as highest walk to stadium! More horses than Cheltenham, more police than a just stop oil protest....it must mean The Gas are in Town. Apparently we're a high category risk opponent!
Cold and rain in the face....Gas in the home end luxxing it and a bit of how's your father afters.....hmmmm maybe they're right, what's not to like!?
Ok, onto less important things... What a great professional performance and display across the whole team (with a minor exception) to gain another 3 points into safety. Without w@nker Lineker or the BBC!
Scott Sinclair runs around head down, and works hard as well as any teenager! One simple goal (how can a defence just leave a player of that quality and experience with the freedom of defence?) as it appeared FGR were begging to be punished, and he duly obliged.... and one assist makes him my m o m but in truth the team performed so well without the ball, everyone deserves a mention!
John Marquis, he's taking the pi$$... With his pm interview saying about his injury, his stoic professional performance definitely deserves a mention. This is what we thought we had last season in Brett Pitman, but I see this as a far better upgrade.....some may say he's a journeyman or doesn't command that emotional lending of Aaza or Lofty, but his contributions have been important and if was in line with his such a delightful, delicate headed finish....he makes goalscoring look easy sometimes and his slick flicks and passing shows grace, even that turn draw keep and pass into net.... I get it now!
I thought Aaza had a quiet game again by comparison, but the small matter of assisting JM for the first to get us going was important contribution.
Bogarte just seems to be getting and better....imo, not having Coutts around allows him more freedom. Definitely fouled for a pen that inexplicably wasn't even seen!?
Jewels in the crown Quansah and Gibs.... we've found our centre mid pairing. Two big fellas were easily dealt with.
Belshaw no chance with a master strike, if not undroppable before, the pen save makes him first name on team sheet for foreseeable....
An important win to keep mini run going, because we've got 2 hard on paper matches at the Mem approaching..... with our plans off ball just as important as on ball, we have a defensive structure, an approach, a shape a movement that you can see what we're trying to do. All hardworking. The spirit appears to be back!
........ and Evans got to be captain! ......
A word on McK incident....the fella with the upturned shorts was trying to give it out to everyone, he's just one of those players, a council house wum....ok Luke fell for it.... something must have been said. JAB acted responsibly. LM was correctly subbed. But.... whatever is going on elsewhere, if LM doesn't like or react well to competition he really shouldn't have come here in the first place..
I hope he regains his mojo and places himself back in contention for a starting part....we all know his potential, and I'm hoping he gets a chance to show us this.
Until then, it's onto some cheating git opponents I have absolutely no love for, Wycscum....

let them miss the best when it comes. On the run Green are on, one up to two one down is going to flatten their confidence and composure. The damage may be done already. Next goal wins it for us. we got anyone in the ground who can report back here? entertaining game or not? I suppose they might be enjoying a vegan pie... this maybe wrong. But not a wrong as a vegan pie. in the old days of Rome we had a saying - the Gods have given us animals to enjoy, both in the bedroom, and on the plate.

In the scenario a player is having a poor game, then he is likely to be substituted. Same for all.Perfectly fair. He was booked as soon as he came on. Minutes later gives away a penalty (I was right behind it and it was blatant). He was heading for a red. We will probably need him Tuesday night. And yet it's brutal to send him off. OK. He came on all wound up, now whose fault is that? Seems to me he's Barton's latest punchbag and the next young man off to Barnsley for rehabilitation.

I listened on Radio Bristol and it seems like a good 3 points,I would have settled for one until Rovers 2nd goal. I still think that Rovers will have to do a complete rebuild this summer.
I have been to FGR with Rovers a few times and its usually raining and always cold (except the play off game) even a friendly game in July was wet and cold and I wore a parka that I usually only wear up north in mid winter.
Cider with Rosie is surely the most boring book ever written, I have read much more interesting Haynes manuals.

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Forest Green: Marquis and Bogarde shine in fine team display..James Belshaw - 8 Charlie Savage's thumping strike gave the keeper of little chance of keeping it out as Forest Green took the lead. Had next to nothing to do until the Gas allowed a soft penalty in the closing stages, which was poorly hit and well-saved by the Gas No1. Luca Hoole - 7 Perhaps could have done more to prevent Jordan Garrick from being able to lay the ball back to Savage for the opener, and there was a stray pass in a dangerous area that Hoole was fortunate to get away with, but for the most part, he joined the attack with gusto and linked well with Sinclair. Should have scored for the second successive away game but he spurned a chance with the goal at his mercy after the break. Jarell Quansah - 8 Looks the real deal. He was up against a meek attack, but the Liverpool loanee did not put a foot wrong, doing all he could to ensure FGR did not have a route back into the game. Could have scored to make sure of the points a bit earlier with the Gas 3-1 up, but he could not get the ball under his spell after the goalkeeper spilt Evans' corner. Lewis Gibson - 8 Made a huge difference on all 10 players around him since returning from injury and this was another excellent display from the Everton loanee at the back. Gave the hosts absolutely nothing all day and was excellent on the ball on a shoddy pitch. Lewis Gordon - 8 Got caught up in a few tussles with Amadou Bakayoko in the first half and seemed to relish the contest. Got forward to good effect and defended his flank expertly. Lamare Bogarde - 8 Played a huge part in the second goal, which will not be credited with an assist as Sinclair finished the chance at the second attempt, but the Dutchman's quick reaction to force the ball to the unmarked winger was crucial. Despite being booked, he managed himself well and still crunched into tackles. A fine player in the making. Grant Ward - 8 His best performance? Quite possibly. Had a magnetic attraction to second balls and dovetailed brilliantly with Bogarde to dominate the midfield battle. Scott Sinclair - 8 Had a good chance to open the scoring inside five minutes, but that did not detract from an excellent first half. He threatened over and over on the right flank and put the Gas ahead with his fifth league goal since signing in October. Lewis Thomas smothered his first shot, but the rebound fell kindly and he tucked it away. His crisp cross onto the head of Marquis made sure of the points. Aaron Collins - 7 Not quite his day in front of goal, but he played a massive part in a coordinated press that Forest Green could not cope with. The goals are not flowing as freely as teams pay more attention to him, but he is still having a significant effect. John Marquis - 8 Continued his good form with a composed and ruthless finish to equalise, sending his man one way before thinking the other and sliding home with his left foot. Hassled defenders all afternoon and was rewarded with a second goal after the interval, nodding home Sinclair's corner to make it three. Josh Coburn - 8 Back in the starting XI for the first time in five games and he made a telling impact in the first half. Nothing will show it on the stats sheet, but this was a fine display. The big lad looked refreshed as he pressed with great intensity and it was his harrying of the FGR defence that led to both first-half goals. He was taken off after the break, but not before winning the corner for the third goal. SubstitutesAntony Evans (for Coburn on 63') - 7 Offered fresh legs and kept Rovers in charge in midfield. Ryan Loft (for Marquis on 79') - 6 Battled hard up top to keep the Gas on the front foot. Luke McCormick (for Collins on 80') - 5 Had to endure the embarrassment of being subbed off just eight minutes after coming on, in which time he was booked and gave away a penalty as the Gas looked to be easing their way to victory. Ruthless from Barton. Glenn Whelan (for McCormick on 88') - N/A James Connolly (for Bogarde on 88') - N/A Not used: Ellery Balcombe, James Gibbons. Good marks for the lads. Looking forward to Tuesdays Wycombe Wanderers game.

It's the vision that makes this such a special goal imho. He's clearly noticed that the posh Keeper strays off his line and has decided to have a go at this well before the ball is flicked on to him. Execution is perfect too. Just enough loft and power to put it out of keepers reach and into the net. One of the best goals I can remember seeing ever. Been in the form of his life this season. Only way we'd know if he is good enough is if we signed him. Not sure what his contract situation is, and he is no spring chicken but think he ought to be on our radar at least.

Sort of agree, and probably wound up because he has had so little pitch time and wanted to make an impression. For once though I think Barton made the right call here as harsh as it seems. His 10 mins or so on the pitch was not a cameo he will want to remember. Sadly I don't think it will help his confidence at all in the long run. He is looking a busted flush at the moment, though I'm certain the player we had in his first spell is in there still. Does Barton have the coaching ability to unlock and exploit that?
