We did'nt shine, but this was an improvement.Alot of effort. We actually went close to scoring a couple of times. I did'nt see the Lofty GK incident, but I hope the appeal means our striker won't be suspended.Whatever actually happened, the Imps GK looked decent at his job. Ellery had a good game, making a couple of fine saves. Was it Luke McCormick that lost his man at the back post for the goal? Bogarde looks very good to me and I hope he starts Tuesday. Grant Ward gets a 7/10.👍 We went close to getting a point , got "null" ,but my point, we are improving. Rovers are going through a transitional period. It's interesting and perhaps frustrating in equal measure ,but I think Joe is doing a great job and there's an excellent team there to be 'discovered'. Apparently some of my Gashead brethren thought Lincoln a "s**thole" and it made them want "to go home".I did'nt have time to visit, but from a distance Lincoln Cathedral looked absolutely magnificent. I did however, have time to purchase a dozen Lincoln Sausages from a "high class butchers ".I mean you might think it the best place in the world to buy them. Very much looking forward to some bangers being served up Tuesday night! Go on - I’ll bite…….. Why did we need to inflict a transition period on ourselves? The purple patch we had just before christmas and some impressive results against the better sides suggest we had a good enough team already without our tactical genius and supreme motivator deciding to change things around and piss some of our better players off .Looks like a massive own goal to me - reminiscent of the genius decision to force Coughlan out of the club and replace him with the hapless Benny. All thats needed is to tighten up the back line (id probably give connolly a bit of a break) and use a formation that our players are comfortable with and stick with it. I also wonder why Marquis can't get a decent run in the team. Plays himself back into form, scoring for fun then relegated to a bit part role. i don't think Barton is a good manager at all

Thats 3 key players all at the same time - exactly when the form nosedived.
'Inflict a transitional period on ourselves'? Hardly.

The manager felt we had some "deadwood " that needed moving on.These players had very little chance of being selected. He signed players that have a better chance of being selected.Certain players, after much repetitive coaching were still not doing what the manager wanted.Joe wants us to play a certain way,so he needs players that can play that way.He wants us to challenge for a play off place and is trying to make us strong enough to do just that. Time will tell if he succeeds or not. I think, over 2 or 3 3rd tier seasons,we will hopefully have a worthy squad to challenge. Edit.As Contradiction has posted and others have said, losing Thomas ,with Rossitter and Gibson both injured did'nt help.

Ward looks a sensible signing to me to give cover for Rossiter as does the left back from Stockport (but have we signed another injury prone player?). The way the Thomas situation was handled looks like an own goal to me as does the goalkeeper loan signing unless we think long term he is better than Belly and we intend to sign permanently. Letting Kilgour go without a tried and tested replacement looks daft. He has proven he can do it at this level. Wheels have been falling off for a while now and not just down to the loss of those 3. Thats just a lame excuse for poor management of quite a deep squad. Neither of you has addressed the point re Marquis either.

It wasn't until I read the Imps forum that I realised there may have been a change of tactics on Saturday.
Before the game comments such as Rovers are a possession based them, and they had the players to press us into making mistakes. After the game comments of surprise saying they thought we played possession football, but it didn't happen.
Looking at the stats it was the first time in ages that we didn't have more the 50%. So it sounds like we were more direct this time... But that didn't exactly help in Lofty's case.

Gentlemen and ladies. Managed to watch the match on the TV thanks to the magic of a janky Amazon Firestick.
First of all. Lincoln were the better side and deserved to win. Regarding the goal and the complaints surrounding it, however...
90 seconds or so previously, Connoly went throught the back of their notoriously physical CF House, and as they were struggling back up, Connoly held him down and shouted in his face (for reasons I am not privy to). House was unsurprisingly wound up, and as soon as he got the chance, he wrestled Connoly to the floor and shouted in his face in retaliation. THe ball comes in and COnnoly is still on the floor. Goal. Check House out as he is running to celebrate the goal, he is looking over at the linesmen knowing for sure the goal will be disallowed and laughing when it isn't.
This doesnt stop Poole being unmarked at the back stick for the cross, however, or our crappy tactics, or leaving a visibly limping Collins to try and stop the cross coming in, or Lofts inexplicable elbow on the keeper. BUT! For once JB has a point.
Officials missed the initial flare up, didnt step in to stop it escalating, missed the consequences and there you go. I saw it, and I'm just a bloke.
Well played Lincoln, there's a team that plays to their strengths.
Bogarde needs to start.

I think John Marquis a good player.I don't know who I would of dropped to play him but obviously JB thinks others a better selection for now.I'm very happy with out forwards. It's just the managers opinion.

Ward and Bogarde would link up nicely I imagine,eg.

Kinda just got back..
The Lion in the witch and wardrobe.... maybe a story for another time.
Oh dear... Another disastrous away day, where non existent defending cost us.
A cross from the deep, indirectly set piece was enough to sink us....but in truth, a better second half performance wasn't enough to secure any points from Sincil Bank and we rightly left pointless.
But, what a weekend!
Get up those battlements on the castle, seek out that magnificent cathedral and try the steep hill keeping on the strait and narrow..
We didn't have a siege mentality. When it got narrow you could have done anything but left your elbow in.... and there was no divine intervention helping us out. I note JAB comments on officials - again - and in some ball park he does have a point, but you surely don't leave yourself open to such interpretations, and you have to find a way to become better than that to win the game fairly. Or as fairly as possible. It's ludicrous to bemoan a genuine foul on Collins when almost every game he dives a simulation!
Hey we're a bit like a bad hairstyle at the moment...you know? When you try to grow your hair long and the bit in between makes you look a bit strange and funny?
Our football looks like that..

The Lincoln sausages I bought from a local "high class butchers" were, I'm happy to report, delectably scrumptious. Yummy! Try the butchers top of St.Michaels hill, best sausages ever

Oddly enough his deadwood as this is now, very much, Bartons team and players. As for Thomas going back, the was entirely avoidable and can be laid, firmly, at Bartons feet. His comments made the player feel he would not do well here and he asked his club to recall him , Barton did say that this had happened, for those that will be denying it. His man management and latest rant, that made it onto twitter would suggest he is due to blow and i don’t think too far off. He is rapidly running out of excuses.
