A wins a win but a huge amount of work to do if we have any ambitions of making the play-offs. Not a snowball in hell’s chance based on what I’ve seen and with our tactical genius in charge. Reckon we‘ll end up 10 - 12 points short, but still predicting 10th place which will be a decent season for first one back. If Barton hadn’t tinkered so much and spaffed away the early part of the season it could gave been so much better. We have some excellent players who if used consistently in right system are more than a match for any other team in this league

Just got back..
This team won ugly, which is important to grind out results wherever.... again, an entertaining match which see sawed on each half, but most of all I think I saw an absolute knackered display out there that dysfunctionally deserved a win in first half, but could so easily snatched a draw or worse out the jaws of victory second half.
Entertainment levels high for the neutral again. This time just holding on, defending and seeing out a winning position.
My m o m again, Aaza. Unplayable. Lovely through ball by Finley (I think!?) For his own finish.... another slick one touch move to assist for Coburn... Cheltenham defending left a lot to be desired.
Mem sedated by no doubt the drop of something last night and Sunday football is different. Poor atmosphere.
Connolly must like Japan with his carry on of kamikaze passing from Thu night....this time it led directly to Alfie May eating that one up and thus potentially letting them back in it....will he be publicly humiliation by JAB for making a mistake?
Belly had regulation standard good game ... Nice come back, mate.
Sinclair running in first half on left cutting in, looks great....we should utilise his attacking prowess....in the end he was played at rwb which was less effective. An important part of a front 3 with c&c though. I would make it a priority to tie him up til end of season. Nice contribution..
I genuinely hope Gibson recovers from his injury sub as for me he's been best of defence ... Only time will tell. Not 100% sure on Thomas. I felt he wasn't marking his man enough and Alfie had him a bit with their offside trap they were threatening to spring.. He held out though. With help of Hoole later on. And....two amazing blocks by Evans!
Finley general play off form. Coutts loss of pace. Anderson not really getting in match but added an option down the right. I liked his energy and engine...
All in all, a pedestrian win where we hardly got out of second gear, but a few bits of wizardry and attacking prowess won us this because we were almost absent in mid.....but everyone needs to take a well deserved rest break.

Stats: BRFC 2 Cheltenham 1 - 62% - 38% - Shots 10-20 - On Target 3-4 - Corners 5-6 - Fouls 9-11 - Referee: Ollie Yates - Attendance: 9,649 A winning start to 2023 for Rovers! Two first-half strikes from Aaron Collins and Josh Coburn ensured all three points for Rovers on New Year's Day. Joey Barton made three changes to the side that started our last game against Exeter City. In came Scott Sinclair, James Connolly and Harry Anderson with Luca Hoole, Ryan Loft and Lewis Gordon. Prior to kick-off, there was a minute's applause for Brazil and football legend Pele who sadly passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 82. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/contentassets/f4ce11565d564fe98e8c6e7f85fe9e50/jmp_bristol_rovers_v_cheltenham_wc-158.jpgThe first clear chance of the tie fell to Sam Finley after Harry Anderson had done well to pick out his run on the edge of the box. Finley hit his shot first time but couldn't keep his effort on target. Rovers opened the scoring on the 25-minute mark. A delicious through ball from Sam Finley played in Aaron Collins, who took a touch and calmly slotted the ball past Luke Southwood to put the Gas one to the good. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/contentassets/f4ce11565d564fe98e8c6e7f85fe9e50/jmp_bristol_rovers_v_cheltenham_wc-221.jpgThe Gas doubled their lead shortly before the half-time interval. Collins played a reverse pass into the path of Josh Coburn on the right. His low shot squirmed under Southwood, who was not able to get enough on the strike much to the delight of the 9,649 Gasheads in attendance. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/contentassets/f4ce11565d564fe98e8c6e7f85fe9e50/jmp_bristol_rovers_v_cheltenham_wc-282.jpgCoburn had the ball in the back of the net yet again shortly before the half-time interval. The Rovers striker was adjudged to be offside and the goal was ruled out. Cheltenham looked to respond following their most recent setback. Former Rovers captain, Liam Sercombe unleashed a venomous effort from 25-yards-out which crashed against the post to keep Belshaw's clean-sheet intact. Cheltenham had their goal shortly after the restart. A lapse in concentration from James Connolly presented Alfie May with a glorious opportunity which he did not squander, firing hard and high past Belshaw and had the visitors within one goal of Rovers. Rovers were forced into an early second-half change after Lewis Gibson was forced off through an injury. On came Luca Hoole to slot in at the back for Rovers. An injury to Cheltenham's Lewis Freestone saw the defender stretched off the pitch. As a result of the lengthy break in play, nine added minutes were shown by the fourth official. Buoyed by the nine additional minutes, Cheltenham started to throw everything at Rovers in search of the equaliser. Rovers were able to weather the storm however and claimed all three points to start 2023 in the best possible way. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/contentassets/f4ce11565d564fe98e8c6e7f85fe9e50/jmp_bristol_rovers_v_cheltenham_wc-440.jpgRovers are next in action on Saturday, 7th January against Cambridge United (3pm KO). Rovers: James Belshaw, James Connolly, Sam Finley, Scott Sinclair, Aaron Collins, Paul Coutts (c), Lewis Gibson, Harry Anderson, Antony Evans, Bobby Thomas, Josh Coburn. Subs: Anssi Jaakkola, John Marquis, Ryan Loft, James Gibbons, Glenn Whelan, Luke McCormick, Luca Hoole. Cheltenham Town: Luke Southwood, Ryan Broom, Sean Long (c), Caleb Taylor, Lewis Freestone, Ben Williams, Taylor Perry, Liam Sercombe, James Olayinka, Dan Nlundulu, Alfie May. You are obviously a tactical genius, who would get the best out of the squad every single game, I hope that Wael will charter a plane for our first match in the Champions League when you're in the dugout.

I honestly cannot ever remember being this sick and it’s both of us so we have to do what we can, when we feel best, normally around noon. To be frank, i was told 3 weeks by a cousin and i am hoping it will be quicker as my immune system is lowered, by meds for my other crap. I have never been a quitter but, if this does go on for 3 weeks, i see hospital. I feel just as i did post chemo but the cough, as you rightly say, is a real swine. We both get close to a sink or loo and it can induce sickness. Thanks again although i feel much more worried now. 3 weeks, jeez

Was just waiting for the linesman to put his flag up, and disallow the goal. Yes, the point of my post was to show that Mr Elliott was indulging in exaggeration with his "six-yards". At the time, (from my seat on the half-way line in the West Stand) I also thought it might have been offside, but the video (and the screenshot) show that it was close enough to be impossible to tell unless you were looking right across the line. Even then, VAR technology might have highlighted which part of the body that was furthest forward, which might also have affected the decision. I thought it was worth posting, as I recall several offside calls that have gone against Rovers in the past two years alone, which - whilst not "six yards offside" - have resulted in disallowed goals, then shown by freezing the i-follow video to be clearly (i.e. a yard or two) onside. For example, Swindon (H : March 2021) or Salford (A : November 2021)

I had a dose of something like this prior to Christmas, and beyond, we eventually had our Christmas dinner at 8 p.m. on Boxing Day. Started improving after that, although the chesty cough is still lingering. Take care.

Thank you BG, i was brought up with hardened women so us men did not moan but the Mrs is not taking it with any dignity and is coming up with having pneumonia and worse. I am in a separate room as i feel and have all that she has but i just don’t go on about it, yes it is horrible and i am losing weight but it’s flu for crying out loud. I am not going to be phoning doctors when i know rest, liquids and paracetamol are par for the course. I will get past this, as most do. She really needs to learn when to just stay quiet. I always suffer all sorts when the heating is used so much. Thanks again
