We are starting this page to follow developments from Dublin, where shortly after 13:30 local time, gardaí (Irish police) were called to a serious incident at Parnell Square East in the centre of the Irish capital. The force says five casualties, including three young children and a man and a woman, have been taken to hospital. One of children, a girl, and the woman sustained "serious injuries". The two other children and the man are being treated for "less serious injuries". The scene remains sealed off and gardaí say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Officers have been in contact with the parents of the children. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/11/23/3d5e55dd-beea-48be-b427-a7a8ef3ba1dd.jpgIrish Justice Minister Helen McEntee says she is "deeply shocked by the appalling attack on three innocent children and a woman" in Dublin. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/11/23/161c09ef-ed5e-47a5-bce6-18dc470655c2.pngichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/11/23/91334a94-881a-4d81-8d98-553772701e6d.jpgSinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald says the attack has sent shock and horror throughout the community. “I am horrified by the incident that has happened in Parnell Square today. There is shock throughout the community," she says. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/11/23/e5b71849-26d7-4aa7-a215-4525e69c5b0a.jpgSupt Liam Geraghty tells assembled press that the force is still investigating the circumstances of the incident. Geraghty says the scene remains sealed off at this time and technical examination of the scene is ongoing. An incident room has been established at gardai station and a senior investigating officer has been appointed. Gardai are following a "definite line of inquiry" - a male in his 50s is a person of interest in the investigation and the Gardai is not looking for any other person. Gardai continue to have "an open mind at this early time," Geraghty says.

Yet another 'very rare incident' in Paris,a married couple attacked, the male stabbed to death and the woman injured, the attacker who was shouting the usual bollox about Alans snack bar then attacked another man with a hammer. The attacker was tasered by police before he could injure anyone else,he had already served a prison sentence for planning attacks and he has....mental health issues....FFS

And the MSM still haven't reported who the attacker was in the Dublin stabbings. I am confused - why did the "lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology" riot? Seems to be some relevant facts missing from the MSM reports. I'm colour blind - I just want to know what happened. And I'm not an apologist for the rioters. But perhaps reporting what actually happened gives the story some context. Were the rioters right wing nutters fed fake news? Or were the rioters right wing nutters who massively over-reacted to an (alleged) Algerian carrying out a knife attack? The truth would be nice.

Nantes fan dies after stabbing before Ligue 1 game against Nice..
A fan of French Ligue 1 club Nantes has died after being stabbed before the club's 1-0 win over Nice.
The incident happened when several vehicles transporting visiting Nice supporters were attacked by Nantes fans while on their way to the Beaujoire stadium before Saturday's game.
Nantes public prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul said a 31-year-old man died.
The victim received "a wound in the back, which could correspond to a bladed weapon".
The prosecutor said that an investigation for "voluntary manslaughter" had been opened and a 35-year-old driver of one of the vehicles had been taken into custody.
Nantes said they were "saddened" by the death, sending their condolences to the victim's family.
"Numerous witness interviews are under way and will continue into the night," the club said in a statement.
"The club can only deplore that a person lost their life in such circumstances."
French sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera said the investigation must "identify the exact circumstances of the events".
The death comes against a backdrop of tensions and recent incidents on the sidelines of Ligue 1 matches.
Two Brest supporters were injured a week ago when their bus was targeted by projectiles after the club's 3-1 victory in Montpellier.
At the end of October, Lyon's team bus was hit by rocks on its approach to Marseille's Velodrome stadium and coach Fabio Grosso was left with cuts to the face that required stitches.

A bloke that I know in Paris told me about this yesterday,he said that there has been a rise in violence at football (and elsewhere in society) since the pandemic. Violence at football matches seems to be a bigger problem in Europe than it is in England, the Legia Warsaw mob at Villa last week seemed intent on causing extreme violence. Another mass stabbing in New York, man stabbed four of his family to death and then stabbed two policemen,on of the policemen managed to shoot the attacker who later died in hospital.

Schools in Aberfan locked down today while Police hunted a man who had stabbing a pregnant woman, someone has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. Wonder if we'll find out anything about the person arrested. A manhunt was launched. But as is customary in this mad mad mad world - the suspect is not described. I would imagine people in the vicinity would like to know who to be looking out for. White? Brown? Black? Go on. Give us a clue. It might save someones life.

Adding to the posts above - Man, 28, arrested after pregnant woman stabbed..Paul Pigott and Catriona Aitken, BBC News.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article31604429.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_RGP_MDM_051223Aberfan_06.jpgA 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in a south Wales valleys village. Police were called to Moy Road in Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil, just before 09:10 GMT after the 29-year-old woman was attacked. On Tuesday afternoon South Wales Police said the 28-year-old suspect was being held in police custody. Ch Insp Rob Miles said the incident was a "targeted attack" and that the victim was known to the suspect. He said the woman remained in hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Lynette Tyner, 51, said she was walking along Wyndham Street in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, to visit a friend when she saw armed police enter a terraced house in the road. "The police vehicles went up the street and they just went into the house like a tonne of bricks," she said. "We haven't seen them bring any weapon out." The grandmother said officers were in the property for around half an hour before they brought out a man in handcuffs and placed him in a marked police wagon. "It must have been him because he was in all black," she said. "He came out quiet and he had a black hoodie on and he didn't have any trainers on - he was barefoot. "He was handcuffed. He had a hoodie over his face to cover his face. "He was calm."

The police sounded very clear that there were elements there that appeared intent on finding any excuse to cause disruption. Probably sensible whilst they sort this out.

Armed police so they were taking it seriously. Looking at his size he cant be that old.

A 17 year old found stabbed to death in Sutton yesterday evening,it just goes on and on the politicians have lost control.
Heres an idea, murder = life imprisonment and life means whole life...in a prison in Rwanda, be cheaper than keeping someone in prison here and would give some income to our friends in Rwanda....the thought of spending their lives in a Rwandan prison might make some of the people carrying knives to think twice.
