Slightly better second half but that’s not saying much. At least we created a few chances. Their third goal was a real quality strike. Our best players tonight Saunders and Belshaw. Anderson Hoole and Connolly OK, Whelan good second half. Aaron Collins had a night to forget and got worse the longer the game went on. It was like his confidence was draining out of him. Marquis should really have scored. Referee Drysdale was awful. Not Ross Joyce chocolate teapot standard but pretty poor all the same. He didn't cost us the game though and we got what we deserved - nothing though 3-0 flattered them slightly

They were a lot better than us. We never had a second on the ball so very disjointed. They still look Championship level

Not sure what ground capacity is - it looked quite empty with over 9000 in it. Not so sure about their team - we were pretty poor tonight but didn't think they were miles better than us. They deserved the win though

So just having watched the highlights surprised Belshaw was beaten by the shot across him, for the first (think that is down to him for all the good saves he made) and the second he was completely wrong footed - just unlucky, but their lad did have lots of time and space to pull the trigger. One other thought from tonight - Gordon looks Ok defensively but am less convinced about him going forward. There were times when he could really have attacked the space in front of him but he elected to pass square or backwards. Overall a performance to forget.

I guess my point is that I’m not sure how much this was down to us having a bad day at the office rather than them being particularly good. Probably a bit of both in truth. Guess we will find out as the season progresses……..

Torrential rain on the drive up, heavy rain on the drive home, and peed all over for the 90 minutes. A lot of the time, we were chasing shadows, and their passing just picked us apart. At full time, I was glad it was only 3. I thought that it could quite easily have been at least another couple. From the 1st goal, we never vaguely looked like getting anything from the game.

Watched on ifollow...
As much as you can say anything, we were taught a proper lesson of how our ar$e got handed back to us last night....wow..... Barnsley played some slick football, easy on the eye and thoroughly deserved win and should have scored more.
Out played. Out thought. Out counter thought. Out finished. Out passed. Out structured.
What a capitulation!?
Credit for us still continuing to try, and trying different tactics, and in second half swapping things about and at least getting somewhere like cohesion (the game was already over by then), but this should serve as a giant wake up call that there's a huge step between where we were before GC left and credible challengers, and where we are now .... 2.5 years behind.
Excellent play by Barnsley, all credit to them. They really should have scored more...

These awful awful performances luckily are rare and as JB pointed out,we've lost 3 points, not the whole season.
I wonder if anyone at Rovers can put their finger on why we were so poor?
Barnsley played very well of course, but we were never as at the races.
I remember FC Basel playing so bad at St Jakobs once,it was baffling.I think Christian Gross was coach and this was a team that competed in the CL League. Could hardly string 2 passes together all game!Really, for 90 minutes.I suspected Gross had lost the changing room, but no,the stars aligned to make it so that the lot of them were crap.

We couldn't play through the Barnsley pressing game so we resorted to hitting long balls. However, with the conditions as they were, plus two gert big centre halfs, this was never going to work. I felt that in the first half especially we were physically dominated. Their players seemed stronger in the upper body and we were continually pushed off the ball.
Still a long way to go this season though. I still have a dream that come Jan, if Elliot Anderson doesn't get much game time at Newcastle, they will be willing to let him come back for the second half of the season.
This division looks really strong this year and I can see teams taking points off each other all over the place.

That's only because they're usually sold out before the match starts!

Club statement on crowd behaviour at Oakwell.
The club is aware of an abusive and derogatory chant made by a section of the home crowd towards a female member of our staff at Tuesday’s Sky Bet League One game at Barnsley Football Club. Bristol Rovers does not condone this behaviour and is against the derogatory language used towards any member of our staff, or anyone for that matter. Football is a game for everyone and it is our responsibility to help tackle sexism and champion the inclusion of women in sport. We have made contact with Barnsley Football Club to raise our concerns about these chants from a section of their crowd. We feel this is an issue that needs investigating further to prevent it from happening again. Bristol Rovers will cooperate and assist with Barnsley Football Club and the relevant authorities to support them with any investigation into this incident and we support the recent launch of the EFL Together campaign to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion.

It seems the club and others, are getting offended by proxy. I remember , when young and much more stupid, using that on women until i had one who said well get your cxxk out for the girls and it shut me right uo. I know many of the right on brigade will be offended, also by proxy , i just think people need to get on with it and not make an issue of it as, in m experience, it can make things worse if people know it has got to someone although i just doubt that it did.

Sorry, are you saying that the club is wrong to be investigate why one of their medical staff was subject to chanting and asked to get her t*ts out or the lads? It's wrong for them and us to be offended because its just banter KP? And by being offended we are now the 'right on brigade'. How do you know she isn't offended and that's why they are investigating? You'll be calling people 'snowflakes' and 'woke' next like Bas..... Let's just ignore it eh? Perhaps we should also let the racists get away with the monkey chants and banana throwing as its only banter and just the 'right on' brigade getting offended by proxy, and by mentioning it will make it worse. Or perhaps I am just misunderstanding what you mean?

Or perhaps I am just misunderstanding what you mean? You are, once again, totally misreading what i am trying to convey but that is fine as it’s very difficult when just seeing writing and no tone of voice or eye contact. If anything i can be called woke and am proud of it because i do care about others but what i am trying to say, seemingly badly, is that i think people get offended all to easily these days and i can tell you that the women i know and even my partner, whom i love dearly, can certainly give it out. I can only write from experience. You are correct, i do not know if the person in question made a complaint but, given she has worked in football then i expect it is water off of a ducks back but, as always i could be wrong. What i can say, without a doubt, is that if you do have an opinion that differs from the crowd then you can be sure someone will be offended. My own opinion is that being offended, by proxy, is a choice and i chose not to be offended although i would not do this kind of thing, i did do it when younger, no point in denying it. The woman who said get your cxxx out for the girls put me in my place. Race was not and is not the issue here but i see how people are bringing that into it. How many times have we heard gingers being given stick, fat players, players called Pikeys ? It will get to a point where we all just politely clap or get thrown out and it concerns me as this can be a cruel world and my experience has been, that if you rise to it then it gets worse. If i had a pound for each time I’ve been called a Polish Bxxxxxd then I’d be sitting comfortably now. If anything , it spurred me onto be better and to not rise to it. I still get it now and i do take it as banter. Just my opinion, nothing to get out of shape about Cheshire. I knew it would not be popular but there you go

Although I'm a quiet person, I could usually respond with a witty put-down, which would make the bloke look stupid in front of his mates - similar to what you have described KP. Most exchanges then were actually good natured, and did not have the nasty element which seems to be considered acceptable today. Of course, our physio should not have to put up with this, although I tend to think that she is a professiona,l and would not necessarily have been tuned in to the crowd whilst treating a player. Lots of clubs have female physios these days, and it would be interesting to know how many of them have received similar abuse, and which clubs have supporters involved in dishing it out. Is it widespread, or a few neanderthals who are repetative.

Unfortunately we do ape things we see our peers do and i was one of them. As i said, i wouldn’t do it now but certainly did when younger. What i struggle with is the way people are so quick to be offended and most were not even there so do not know what actually happened and if there was any reaction. I have a couple of female friends who play football and rugby and all i can say it that they are more laddish than the ones that do not participate, make of that what you will but the ladette ( sp) culture started in the 90’s and i have often seen women get into drinking competitions with guys then act twice as bad, later. I honestly don’t know what to add as i have already said, a woman with a bit of nous can make a bloke look bloody stupid and you can see them shrivel when given it back

Lead vocal,"Oh pretty woman" Improvised backing vocal."Probably "! Lead vocal,"walking down the street" Lead vocal continued. "Pretty woman" Improvised backing vocal."Probably" Etc.
