Here are a selection of your comments:
Simon: This is a statement signing from Manchester United and proves that Ineos are sticking to their word with signing young players for the future and not getting held to ransom all summer for one signing like previous seasons! Hopefully it's a sign of things to come and United will be back on top very soon. Peter: He's obviously got talent but so have many others that come to Old Trafford and fail. Another young lad for the future. The Premier League is more physical than the French, will he sink or swim? Who knows? He must be better the the ones we have right now. Ruzzle: I'm sure there will be a lot of cliched responses about being too young but those that work with him closely must have seen enough to recognise an exceptional talent. He's older than Yamal, after all. It will be interesting to watch him develop in an unforgiving league. Christine: This is an excellent signing, it is about time that United are searching for young talent again, not players that are coming to the end of their careers and overpriced. It's exciting times Yoro was sought after by many top clubs but he chose us, let's hope it's going to be great things to come. Jeff: A great signing. One for the future. If we can have Yoro clicking, then Mainoo in the midfield, bring in Garnacho, Diallo, and Hojlund - the future is not so gloomy.

Tottenham are aiming to beat Fulham to the signature of Manchester United's 27-year-old Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay. Lille threatened not to play French defender Leny Yoro, 18, in the final year of his contract if he did not agree to sign for Manchester United.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/659d/live/1f8eb8b0-45bc-11ef-b74c-bb483a802c97.jpgWe asked for your thoughts on what Manchester United should do next in the summer transfer window after completing the £52m signing of young central defender Leny Yoro from Lille.
Here are some of your responses:
Mike: Promising signing, and finally not someone approaching the last stages of their career and (seemingly) not injury prone. We need more defensive signings - well, we need signings in many positions - but it is a project, not a sprint. Kevin: Sell Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, get in De ligt and Frimpong. Out with Casemiro and McTominay, in with Rabiot and Ugarte. Finally out with Sancho and in with Ivan Toney. Fyn: I think going for an unpredictable right winger because Antony has not preformed last season and with Garnacho and Hojlund partnering the right winger, it would be a near perfect line-up. A player like Rodrygo or Saka, but obviously not such a high price tag. Phil: Need to sell deadwood to generate funds and squad space and wages for incomings. Casemiro replacement next priority. Could be Ugarte or someone from left field like Zubimendi from Sociedad. Dave: I think we need another centre-back of proven quality. Maguire and Lindelof are not at that level, they never will be. It's time to ship them out and get in replacements who can play at the level Ten Hag requires. And he knows De Ligt who, granted, has never played in the Premier League but is world-class. If I could, I would sign him today. Christine: I would like to see another defender signed, De Ligt would be a good choice. Whether Casemiro stays or goes, I think keeping Amrabat and signing Rabiot on a free makes financial sense as both are great players. David: Onana was not anything special as far as United keepers have been in the past. Replace him for starters. Maybe a defensive midfielder also. Paul: I think United need to find a replacement for Onana in goal, sign another central defender and sell Antony, Casemiro and Sancho. Then we should have a decent squad for the season.

The Old Trafford club are open to selling midfielder Mason Mount this summer. France midfielder Adrien Rabiot, 29, is close to signing for United after leaving Juventus at the end of his contract. Meanwhile, United have set a £30m asking price for midfielder Scott McTominay. Manchester United have decided not to trigger an option to sign 27-year-old Morroco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina. The Old Trafford club are interested in keeping Amrabat following his loan spell last season, but they want to negotiate a new deal. Honorary Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has suggested 24-year-old Netherlands defender and United target Matthijs de Ligt could leave the club this summer. Meanwhile, United do not want midfielder Scott McTominay to leave, amid interest from Premier League rivals Fulham and Tottenham.

First Man Utd minutes 'incredible' - Leny Yoro ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/0743/live/9f663130-4738-11ef-af71-dbef956814a9.jpgLeny Yoro has described his first outing in a Manchester United shirt as "incredible". The £52m signing from Lille played the opening half of Saturday's 2-0 friendly win over Rangers at Murrayfield. "It was a really good game from the team," the 18-year-old defender told club media., external "I'm happy with my performance and I hope we continue like that." United now travel to the USA where they will face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool, before the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley on 10th August.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your views after Manchester United's 2-0 friendly win over Rangers.
Here are some of your responses:
David: Much improved on the Rosenborg game. Leny Yoro looks to be a steal - he has great timing and can move forward. Harry Amass looked good, as did Amad Diallo. A few first-team players looking over their shoulders now. Steve: A very positive performance from United's second string. Always looking to play forward and get on the front foot. It is refreshing to see United aggressive in the transfer market and positive on the pitch. We haven't seen this positivity for years. Christine: Diallo is going to be world class. Great to see so many young players coming through the ranks and giving fantastic performances, making sure they are giving themselves a chance of playing when the season starts. So many good things to look forward to. Neil: Food for thought. Liked the dig and hunger shown - particularly by the young guys. Jadon Sancho clearly benefited from his German stint and hopefully both player and boss bury their differences as he is a class act. Paul: Nice to see some youngsters coming through. Toby Collyer is a workhorse and hopefully he can break through this year. Still some frailty at the back, which was saved by Rangers' lack of finishing. Yoro looked calm with some nice passing, so hopefully a good addition to the squad. Ruzzzle: No Victor Lindelof or Antony despite both being in full training last week shows where their futures may lie. The game itself was a step up in performance from Rosenborg. Good to see Yoro and Sancho was also like a new signing. Still a lot of players to come back into the side, but Diallo and Mason Mount did their chances no harm. Arifur: Pre-season or not, it was a good game. It seemed like United had control and were confident on the ball. Still some little moments of inconsistency but, other than that, a great win. Diallo was superb and Yoro showed a sublime passing range and composure on the ball. Dougie: Let's not get carried away here. This was an easy win - against the second best team in the Scottish Premiership. You could buy the club for the price of Scott McTominay. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/0773/live/02430a10-476d-11ef-b68c-050ea61c75fc.jpg

Scott McTominay 'vastly underrated'..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/7312/live/06395300-4848-11ef-99ba-77e0e7ceb668.jpgOn the latest episode of The Devils Advocate podcast, BBC Radio Manchester's Gaz Drinkwater spoke about Scott McTominay's future: "I think McTominay is still vastly underrated. In terms of our attack, I think he can still be vital for United.I think he's the best at heading the ball apart from Harry Maguire. "It depends if he's happy playing the role I want him to, as an impact player that comes off the bench. "I think he should only be played as a number 10 or as a forward-thinking midfielder. I don't want him deep in the midfield because he can't control games. On the turn, he's not as fast mentally as Kobbie Mainoo or Bruno Fernandes. "[But] McTominay arriving late in the box, there's not many better players in the league for it. I'd keep him." ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/01d2/live/6e70c820-3aa3-11ef-a044-9d4367d5b599.jpg

PSG will try to strike a deal with Manchester United for Sancho but are also keen on the Old Trafford club's Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes, 29. Manchester United and West Ham are in competition to sign Morocco right-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, who want about £19m for the 26-year-old. West Ham could pursue a deal for Manchester United's 26-year-old English right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka if Mazraoui moves to Old Trafford.

United want £40m for Sancho. Manchester United have offered just under 40m euros (£33.6m) for Netherlands centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, but Bayern Munich will not accept less than 50m euros (£42.2m) plus add-ons for the 24-year-old. Getafe will get just over £5m from Mason Greenwood's £26.7m move from Manchester United to Marseille because of a sell-on clause they negotiated when they took the 22-year-old on loan last season.

The shirt has a navy blue base with the royal blue 'M' "applied as a series of repeated circular patterns" on the main body. The club says the bold design is "a homage to the 3D monograms frequently seen on Manchester United kits from 30 years ago" and also hints to the three rivers that flow through Manchester. Other features include a polo club collar, silver detailing on the Adidas stripes down each shoulder and the Manchester United devil on the nape of the neck. It will be worn with navy blue shorts and socks.

Here are some of your comments:
Craig: Finally an away kit fans can be proud of. Some of the past kits have been absolutely frightening. Steve: Looks like we're Chelsea! Terrible! Bad for the fans and bad for the brand. Unbelievable decision from marketing department! Damian: Manchester United coming in with a cold away kit, going to be putting a lot of goals past teams on the road in this snazzy number! Jay: Terrible away kit. Looks like Chelsea's home kit. Arya: I love it! It’s ice cold. Joe: I hate it. United should never play in blue, however its 1000 times better than the lime green monstrosity from two years ago.

Double injury blow for Man Utd in Arsenal defeat - Arsenal 2-1 Man Utdichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/7/29/1c3e7e60-6599-4db9-8266-f5cf4343122c.pngStriker Rasmus Hojlund and £52m new signing Leny Yoro both suffered first-half injuries as Manchester United lost their opening US tour game against Premier League rivals Arsenal 2-1 in Los Angeles on Sunday. Hojlund had given his side a 10th-minute lead before pulling up with what seemed to be a groin injury five minutes later that meant he could not continue. Yoro’s exit was equally innocuous. The 18-year-old defender, who only joined United from Lille on 18 July, went down and needed lengthy treatment, before he too called it a day.

Victor Lindelof returns for Man Utd..by Simon Stone, BBC Sport in Los Angelesichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/7/29/f1c97688-7005-47df-9a91-eae72cd18586.jpgThere was some good news on the injury front for Manchester United on Sunday as Victor Lindelof returned to training. The Sweden defender is yet to play a match during United's pre-season campaign due to what was described as a "slight niggle". The 30-year-old made 28 appearances last term and his return may be well timed given the injury that left new signing Leny Yoro limping badly as he was substituted during the first-half of Sunday's defeat by Arsenal in Los Angeles. United said on Sunday they were still assessing the extent of the problems for Yoro and striker Rasmus Hojlund, who was also forced off through injury.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/396d/live/1e5fd100-4b1f-11ef-93ae-c1821394f93d.jpgWe asked you for your questions to put to Simon Stone, our chief football news reporter who is on tour with Manchester United.
Here's the latest selection:
Nigel asked: Do you think Bruno Fernandes is an effective captain and leader of the team, or should United appoint someone who is perhaps less emotional, particularly when things are not going to plan, and a real leader? I am not sure who - any ideas? Simon answered: There are a significant points here that go right to the heart of the matter. First, Erik ten Hag feels he is a real leader. He may be emotional but he is the player I see rising to the challenge more often than anyone else. In that sense, Fernandes leads by example, which is a reason why he would be the captain. The secondary point - as you make - is who else? It has to be someone who plays every week, that you could see as being an integral part of the club going forward. The candidates are not obvious. Kobbie Mainoo is clearly far too young, Luke Shaw is not really a captain and Lisandro Martinez has not been at the club for very long. The additional point is if you take the role off Fernandes, he is probably not going to react well, which would place his future at the club in doubt. On balance, I would stick with him. Sam asked: What is happening with the Matthijs De Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite transfers? Simon answered: We are in a holding pattern. United are yet to hit the figure Everton are demanding for Branthwaite - there was a sense earlier in the summer that the Merseyside club had to sell, but evidently, for that player specifically, that was not the case. De Ligt has more experience and would presumably have a more senior role in Ten Hag's squad given how well he knows the central defender. But Bayern Munich are not making it easy and United will not get him on the cheap. It might be a late one in the window if either man ends up being signed. Tony asked: Is everyone fit and available for the coming season? Simon answered: Clearly Tyrrell Malacia isn't, otherwise he would be here. I guess the main doubt is how Shaw has come through the Euros. After spending so long last season without a left-back, Ten Hag needs to have one who is fully fit from day one.

Manchester United's search for a midfielder could see them make an offer for Burnley's Norway international Sander Berge, 26, after the Old Trafford club turned their search away from Paris St-Germain's 23-year-old Uruguayan Manuel Ugarte. However, Championship side Burnley will demand up to £30m for Berge. Manchester United have also expressed late interest in Monaco's 25-year-old France midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is on the verge of a move to AC Milan. Erik ten Hag has not discounted the idea of Manchester United signing Fiorentina's Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, 27, who spent last season on loan at Old Trafford. Fulham have cooled their interest in Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay, after a £20m bid was rejected by Manchester United for the 27-year-old who is valued at £30m by the Red Devils.
