Arsenal v Man Utd: Man arrested after Roy Keane allegedly assaulted during Premier League match at Emirates Stadium..

It follows the circulation of footage on social media showing Sky Sports pundits Micah Richards and Roy Keane involved in an altercation with an individual. Ex-United captain Keane was reportedly the alleged victim of the assault. Sky Sports say Richards was "acting to defuse a situation". "Police are investigating an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 3rd September, during which a man was assaulted," The Metropolitan Police said in a statement. "On Monday, 4th September, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH). The man has been taken into police custody. Enquiries are ongoing." A Sky Sports spokesperson said: "We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media. In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation." Ex-Manchester City and England defender Richards, 35, and former Republic of Ireland international Keane, 52, were working on Sky Sports' coverage of the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.

Antony: Brazil drop Manchester United winger after abuse allegations..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D654/production/_130986845_antony.jpg Antony has made four appearances for Manchester United so far this seasonBrazil have dropped Manchester United winger Antony following allegations of abuse by his former girlfriend. The Brazilian football federation said the 23-year-old had been withdrawn from the squad after "facts became public" that "need to be investigated". Brazilian news outlet UOL published allegations made by Antony's ex-partner on Monday. Police in Sao Paulo and Greater Manchester are investigating the claims, which the player has denied. "I can calmly state that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and the other evidence that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made," Antony said on social media. "I trust that the ongoing police investigations will demonstrate the truth about my innocence." Antony is accused of attacking his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin "with a headbutt" in a Manchester hotel room on 15th January, leaving her with a cut head which needed treatment from a doctor. She also alleges she was punched in the chest, causing damage to a silicone breast implant, which required corrective surgery. Antony added in his statement on Monday that his relationship with his former partner was "tumultuous", but insisted he "never committed any physical aggression". He also released a statement in June saying he had been falsely accused by his former girlfriend of domestic violence. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it is "aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report". It added: "We will not be commenting any further at this time." Manchester United said they had no comment on the matter at present when contacted by BBC Sport. The allegations come after the Premier League club announced last month that forward Mason Greenwood would leave by mutual agreement following a six-month internal investigation. Charges against Greenwood, including rape and assault, were dropped in February. The 21-year-old joined Spanish side Getafe on loan last week. Antony has been replaced in the Brazil squad by Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/5/3ece1d6c-0a92-48e4-b034-5b385ee7dc2f.jpg

Clearly he must have been watching another game since United had very little to offer going forward except for the largely expected counter-attacks. "Manchester United could have won because they thought they were ahead with two minutes left until Alejandro Garnacho's goal was ruled out by VAR, but no way could he say they deserved to win it after the game. "It was actually a pretty scrappy game until the late drama, but Arsenal missed the big chances through Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka in each half. "He could have said they deserved a draw (had they got one) but cannot agree at all with the suggestion Manchester United deserved to win. They did not." Jamie: What has happened to Jadon Sancho? It wasn't so long ago he was a world-class player and clubs were fighting to sign him. He looks a shadow of that right now... "I fear Jadon Sancho's Manchester United career is over. I am not sure he can come back from such a strong statement which effectively questions what his manager Erik ten Hag said about him. "We know what a strong disciplinarian Ten Hag is and I suppose some will question whether this should have been aired so publicly. "Sancho is undoubtedly talented and came back from off-field issues last season which were sensitively handled, but I now honestly feel the next stage of his career will be played out away from Manchester United."

Here are some of your comments:
Arsenal fans
David: Nervy, nervy, nervy - it was one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters I’ve ever been on as an Arsenal fan. Overall we could have been better in defending and opening spaces, but in the last five minutes we turned on the style and showed our title contentions. Ahmed: Arteta and the Arsenal players need a rethink. The Premier League this season will be tough and, personally, I don't like his selection of players. Why not play Trossard? Why keep Havertz for that long? A good decision starting with Gabriel and we really benefited from that. Graham: Starting the season slowly as the new players fit into the side. All the new players will have a great impact and we will be top three, but Manchester City are still far better than us and the chasing pack. Eddie: That’s the season-changer. Arsenal just need to apply what they did in added time to the 90 minutes. Man Utd fansPaul: I thought United played a lot better than the previous games - and even with the lines of VAR drawn, I still think that's a good goal. If you are level, it's onside. Garnacho is level with Gabriel, so definitely a good goal. It changed the game. Injuries keep accumulating and it seems we definitely need a new centre-back. Adrian: It's difficult to know what to say after that. There were a few positives but many more negatives. We are definitely poorer than last season at the moment. Only pray that when Rasmus, Amrabat and Mount bed in things may improve. But at the moment it looks like being a very tough season. Tom: I give Ten Hag to halfway through the season at United. He won't last longer than that. Bad choice of team to start, not sure what all the tapping it around in defence was about. Antony is poor - no, actually, he is not good enough for the Premier League. Martial poor. Midfield non-existent. I could go on all day. Terry: United tried a defensive approach and it almost won it for them. Their ageing midfield made up of attack-minded players could not see the game out. They give the ball away too often. Not much change from the Solskjaer years.

Former Spain defender Sergio Ramos, 37, rejected a last-ditch transfer offer from Manchester United before sealing a return to Sevilla. Manchester United are still trying to sell Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek, 26, with the Saudi Pro League window closing on Thursday.

Metro reports that Sancho could face disciplinary action as United manager Erik ten Hag stands by his own remarks that the England international had not reached the "level" required to be included in his squad. Sancho was left out of the United team which was beaten 3-1 at Arsenal on Sunday. Sancho, who moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021, has struggled for consistent form and has scored just nine league goals and provided six assists in his 58 appearances. Ten Hag said Sancho's poor performances in training led to him not being selected to face Arsenal - leading to Sancho biting back, and now suggestions he could be exiled from the squad or even sold in the coming days.

Manchester United shares dive on report sale is off..By Peter Hoskins, Business reporter.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/09/05/21/75092949-12484253-image-a-43_1693945875431.jpgManchester United shares have seen their biggest ever one-day fall after a report that the team's US owners are going to take it off the market. The club's shares fell by more than 18% in New York on Tuesday. That came after the Mail on Sunday reported that no potential buyer had matched the club's asking price. The US-based Glazer family announced in November it was considering selling the Premier League club as they explored "strategic alternatives". Manchester United's co-chairmen, brothers Joel and Avram Glazer, are holding out for an offer of £10bn, according to the Mail on Sunday. However, prospective bidders Sheikh Jassim of Qatar and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe had not come close to offering that amount, the paper said. The newspaper cited a source with long-standing close ties to the club's owners as saying the Glazer family may try again next year to sell the team when they hoped to attract more bidders. The club did not immediately respond to a BBC request for comment. Tuesday's share price fall wiped around $700m (£556m) off Manchester United's stock market valuation. It is now valued at about $3.2bn. The Glazer family bought Manchester United in 2005 for $790m. However, they have faced fierce opposition from some fans who accuse them of loading the club with debt and not investing enough in it. Since the takeover the club has spent more than £1bn on interest and loan payments, plus share dividends - the majority of which have gone to the Glazer family. But the club has also spent some 1.36bn euros (£1.18bn) on transfers under the Glazers. Last month, the 1958 Group, which is made up of fans that want the Glazers out of the club, held a protest at Old Trafford to signal their continued opposition to the family's ownership. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2022/03/14/15/55339985-10611497-image-a-58_1647270702245.jpg

Antony: Further assault claims made against Manchester United player in Brazilian media ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/F426/production/_131020526_gettyimages-1642897644.jpgAntony has made four appearances for Manchester United this season Manchester United's Antony is facing further allegations of assault made by a woman in an interview with a Brazilian TV channel. A police investigation has already been opened following allegations of domestic abuse against his former girlfriend. Brazilian news outlet UOL published allegations made by Antony's ex-partner on Monday. Sao Paulo Police are also looking into the claims, which Antony has denied. Now Ingrid Lana, a 33-year-old banker, has claimed in a short clip released by Brazil's Record TV that she hit her head when "pushed against a wall" by Antony at his house in Manchester in October 2022. The full interview with Lana is due to be released in Brazil this weekend. Manchester United said they were taking Monday's allegations "seriously", while Brazil dropped him from their squad after "facts became public" that "need to be investigated". The Red Devils have not commented on the latest claims or clarified whether Antony will be selected for their next fixture against Brighton on Saturday 16 September. Antony was also accused of attacking his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin "with a headbutt" in a Manchester hotel room on 15 January, leaving her with a cut head which needed treatment from a doctor. She alleges she was also punched in the chest, causing damage to a silicone breast implant, which required corrective surgery. Antony previously said on social media about Cavallin's claims: "I can calmly state that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and the other evidence that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made." The former Ajax winger released a statement in June claiming he had been falsely accused by Cavallin, his former girlfriend, of domestic violence.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/3BB9/production/_124398251_gossip.jpgManchester United and England defender Harry Maguire, 30, was "very close" to joining West Ham in a £30m deal this summer, says Hammers coach Kevin Nolan. Clubs in Turkey and Qatar are being sounded out as Manchester United look to offload Netherlands midfielder Donny van de Beek, 26. However, it now seems likely former Ajax player Van de Beek will be staying at Old Trafford until January. Manchester United and Turkey midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, 20, is wanted on loan by Besiktas. The transfer window in Turkey closes on Friday.

14th September 1963 - George Best makes Man Utd debut..ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/14/ea54fa11-ddfa-4857-b5e3-744fb7a1760d.jpgOn a warm autumnal Saturday 60 years ago, George Best made his debut for Manchester United. Aged 17-years-old, he made his Old Trafford bow in a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion. And the rest they say is history. Viewed as one of the greatest players to ever grace the game, Best went on to play on the biggest stages. Football had seen nothing like it. Pace, poise, balance, control and resilience - he danced around opponents in the glory days for Manchester United. Best thrived alongside team-mates Bobby Charlton and Denis Law as United won the First Division title twice, before landing the coveted European Cup in 1968 and being named European Footballer of the Year. In total, he made 470 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 179 goals.

The news comes in a week where another United forward, Antony, also stepped away from first-team duties amid domestic abuse allegations made by his former partner. Sancho moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021. But he has struggled for consistent form since making the switch, and has scored only nine goals and provided just six assists in his 58 Premier League appearances. Last season Sancho spent three months battling physical and mental issues, with Ten Hag at one point saying the England international was not fit enough to play. He returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final win against Nottingham Forest on 1 February and a week later sparked a comeback against Leeds United in the Premier League, scoring the equaliser in a 2-2 draw. Ten Hag spoke of his pride in "magnificent" Sancho in the aftermath, but Sancho's involvement has lessened since then. He has made three substitute appearances this season with United winning two and losing two of their opening four Premier League fixtures. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/15/6c8e31b7-0b10-4135-99d3-1cc4170fe4d9.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/15/ec440eae-63e5-4357-a136-28ae89e701df.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/15/c15b118b-677a-4d9d-9406-b6cd0b031e0a.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/9/15/8350db4b-5876-45c6-9e88-b27b075f49a0.jpgBorussia Dortmund made a tidy profit on Jadon Sancho when they agreed to sell him to Manchester United in the summer of 2021. Having paid £10m to sign him just four years earlier, Dortmund were happy to accept United's offer of £73m. At the time, Sancho was the second-most expensive English footballer after team-mate Harry Maguire. He departed Dortmund after scoring 50 goals and registering 57 assists in 137 appearances. Sancho's signing came with a lot of hype - in four seasons at Dortmund, Sancho notched 57 assists and created 65 big chances, more than new team-mates Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani during the same period. However, he struggled to hit those highs at Old Trafford and scored just three goals and laid on only three assists during his debut campaign in the Premier League. His figures improved last season, but not greatly, as he chipped in with six goals and three assists in the league.
