Germany 1 England 1. So the ball is about 5 yards away from Kane and going away from goal. Kane feels the slightest of touches from behind and goes down like a sack of potatoes. Looked to me like a yellow for simulation. What do I know?

Looked to me like a yellow for simulation. What do I know? It was a pen. The defender tried to be clever and make it look accidental but what on earth was he doing falling head first like that? The other point is why wasn't the defender sent off? Surely under the current rules he had to go? Last defender and denied the striker of a clear goal scoring opportunity? The ref (or VAR) must have decided it wasn't a goal scoring chance but it was a foul.
What a mess VAR is though. After the pen incident, the Germans broke, and had a four against three opportunity, which they messed up. They really should have scored. Imagine if they had scored? With the VAR review leading to a pen being given, the 'goal' would have been scrubbed out. What a friggin mess that would have been. The pressure on the ref would have been immense, and this was really a low level game.
In the Bundesliga, I think it was the season before last, the teams had gone off for half time. The ref had to review a pen shout that happened just before he blew for HT. As usual it took a while. He then had to get both sets of players back onto the pitch, so the pen could be taken. After it was scored, both teams had to line up for the KO, before the whistle blew again and they went back in for HT ! Utter nonsense.

Pretty sure you can't get a red card and a penalty these days. You can get a yellow card for simulation in the box though. There was absolutely nothing to gain by bringing down Kane as the ball was moving away from danger. Kane knew that, felt a slight breeze from behind and went down like he'd been shot by a sniper. Cute? Part of the game these days? Cheating in my books. How did the German papers view it, out of interest?

I haven't seen/heard any complaints in the German media.

That's a cracking result for Gib. Bulgaria are ranked 73rd in the world, with Gibraltar down in 203rd place, a great result for the minnows playing official international football since 2013.

So no Jake Gosling playing for Gibraltar any more. He's currently plying his trade at Bristol Manor Farm, surely he's better than tier 8? Cracking first goal in the 7-0 defeat of Alfreton. 7-0. Our joint record winning margin (league/non-league) in the last 100 years. On the last day of the regular season. That won't be happening again any time soon.
