As someone pointed out today, if a boat turns up on the beach in Kent containing Afghans, Syrians, and from Yemen and Ukraine, do you advocate sending the Ukrainian to Ruwanda?

I think what Tedros says has some truth in it,but the answer may not be straight forward. Maybe it is whites looking after whites first? A European war, cities and people 'like us' as it were, brings the need to help home? The war in Ukraine appears to possibly threaten a world war upon us? Then eg we know most Ukranian men stay and fight? 90% of channel boat 'refugees' are young single men. Non Islam is scared of Islam ,for good reason. Etc.

Though I'm not sure about the practicality of this latest 'plan'. Sounds completely unworkable to me. Should we differentiate between Europeans and non-Europeans? I think 'yes'. If we had unlimited resources, money and land then it would be just super to help everyone. But we don't, so uncomfortable decisions need to be made. I think decisions based on nationality seems reasonable. Personally, I would fast track the Ukrainian for refugee status because on balance he would very likely to be fleeing the war in Ukraine, and not an illegal immigrant. It would be much harder to determine refugee status for non-Europeans, because we know that a very large percentage of non-Europeans are illegal immigrants and not refugees.

The Ukranians will generally be women and children.Genuine refugees who's men are back home fighting the Russian invader. As for our usual uninvited guests,90% young men.Not genuine refugees.

There is a huge difference between a refugee and an immigrant. I don't expect to find Ukrainians arriving by boat from France. First off I don't think there will be many refugees arriving from Ukraine. I'd imagine that most see leaving Ukraine as a temporary measure, with plans to move back as soon as it's safe. Therefore, I expect the vast majority will probably want temporary asylum in a country near to Ukraine. The new plan is an interesting one, and similar to what Australia imposed with their boat people problem. What you are actually doing is removing the carrot. If people know that they will have to pay for a seat on a boat, and once caught they will be sent to Rwanda for processing, then it becomes an unattractive proposition. This can only lead to fewer people using the boat smuggling route, and also a reduction in the amount of people dying trying to cross the Channel.

So let me get this right. People here are openly advocating having an immigration and asylum policy based upon race?
Really?
Wow, just wow.

Religion is worth considering, look at Poland eg. Look, this new Rwanda thing won't last. We're still attached to that EU human rights nonsense, so this new idea won't last. We need to release ourselves from the EU human rights thing.

I said, and I thought quite clearly: "I think decisions based on nationality seems reasonable". No-one is bringing colour into this debate. Just you. So to be clear - a black, Muslim Ukrainian should be treated the same as a a white, Christian Ukrainian.

You shouldn't do that. I am not though Nobby, am I. I think, I could be wrong, but in this conversation I am the one advocating an asylum system predicated upon need. As it currently is. It is you guys who are advocating an asylum system predicated upon nationality (which in the majority of instances is the same as race, hence my comment). Now we have our wonderful Government actually trying to ship human beings on a one way ticket to that beacon of democracy and respect for the rights of the individual, Rwanda. Hopefully this will be challenged, through the courts. Like you Nobby I have lived abroad for long periods of my life. I was always proud of democracy, our legal system, practitioners within which were key players in the drafting of international laws and agreements which we, as a country, are signatories to. Now it has come to this. Disgusted, nauseated doesn't even cover it. And you guys are supporting it.

Great to see an African country supporting Britons wish to control their own border and stop these queue jumping cheats.
Next will be the lawyers (Muslim I imagine) challenging this Government scheme.
Oh and we will have to rely on the efficiency of the Home Office.

Lawyers will challenge this Government decision.Fact.We'll see who these individuals are. I know a Muslim lawyer.Protects all sorts of crime by Muslims. No coincidence this person represents Muslims.Absolutely politically motivated. Home Office will do the 'paperwork ',won't they. I can't see it going ahead anyway,as I've said. Apparently Israel have already used this scheme but with limited success.I don't know if it put illegals off trying their luck.

Is that right? As far as I'm aware, yes. It was my opinion that all Ukrainians should be treated equally, not a presumption that this applied in law. Though it very probably does. Unless you know differently - please post a link if you have one.
