Going well for the freeloaders "Campaigners in the Bahamas have urged the British monarchy to apologise and pay reparations for its role in slavery ahead of Prince William and Kate’s upcoming visit. The Bahamas National Reparations Committee called for the royal family to atone for its role in the mass trafficking of African people in a strongly worded open letter." 🥲🤭 Christ, why do we have to put up with these absolute clowns. So who you on about now.... Bahamians or Royals 🤔... Wass fink LiS?

Seems appropriate for this thread. Lambeth Council are considering changing the name of Tulse Hill and plenty of street names. The Tulse family made money from slavery. Digestive Biscuits. The name, it's an absolute affront.😂😂😂 "Dark Chocolate " ones might offend somebody.

Regarding slavery etc. I was just going to widen the debate and mention how over 1,000,000 whites were enslaved by North African slavers. This about the same time as the Tulse family were enslaving blacks. It's not only a white on black crime as always portrayed.

Exactly?

Exactly? Barbary pirates. Not sure about 1million slaves - there are a wide range of estimates available. www.google.com

Lundy was a base for the slavers for about five years.

Who were these "white slaves" captured? Who were these "North Africans"? Exactly? Robert Davis. Professor of History at Ohio University. His book "Christian Slaves,Muslim Masters"His studies have come up with over 1,000,000 white slaves. And this is what Prof Davis had to say about people like you Basel. "But even at the beginning, there were hints about what was to come. “At almost the same time, I started being contacted by various right-wing broadcasters and conservative pundits who believed the book or the news release supported their own take on racial history. Some have specifically used it to back their claims that the slavery suffered by white European Christians somehow lessens or even negates the great historical horror of the trans-Atlantic slave trade from Africa to the Americas,” he said. Some on the alt-right have gone so far as to assert that Davis’ findings that white Christians had themselves once been enslaved by black Muslims mean that Americans today need not be concerned about either African American slavery or its aftermath. One Facebook page discussing Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters makes its message plain: “Never feel guilty about slavery in American again!” “As time has passed and mainstream interest in my findings unsurprisingly began to fade, the commitment to this racialist interpretation seems to have only intensified, as especially people of the alt-right have taken to using my book – or at least the news release – for their own, unrelated purposes. And while I’d really like to distance myself from such use, or rather misuse, there’s not a lot I can do at this point,” Davis said. He said that some people have begun taking one of his findings (about the number of Christians enslaved by Muslims) out of context and not really comprehending the whole book" Yep, sounds familiar.

It might be easier to respond if you did'nt insult me. Part of the Right of course use this book. Just as part of the Left use other books. It's to be expected. This book has credibility historically. It is a good work. White slavery was real and all the incidents and places added up are huge.Over 1,000,000. This also should be taught in schools. It could do alot for 'equalling things up' so to speak.A good tool for integration. No child should ever be made to feel like a bad one because they have white or black skin. Slavery was and is an evil human trait.

Oops, It appears the farcical tour has done more to speed up the path towards republicanism in the former "colonies" than almost anything in recent history.
Henry Charles Usher, minister for constitutional and political reform, told Belize’s parliament on Thursday: “Madame Speaker, the decolonisation process is enveloping the Caribbean region.
“Perhaps it is time for Belize to take the next step in truly owning our independence. But it is a matter that the people of Belize must decide on.”

I wonder what will be asked for in reparations?I assume we've given eg Jamaica many millions of £s over the years. Immigrants from Jamaica to the UK,will this be effected? BLM and 'historical' books like Mr Holdings have influenced things.
