The villagers,or at least some of the villagers, that protested against Kate & Will visiting may not represent the majority of Belizians. I get the impression relations between GB and Belize is pretty good. c=a2+b2 Shouldn`t it be c2=a2+b2? Also, am not too sure what it`s got to do with basel`s post?

Enlighten us. Let the scales fall from our eyes. What is it, we cannot see? In your case, your hands in front of your face. What a strange thing to say. Surely, if I`m blind to everything else, the ONLY thing that I would be able to see, would be my hands in front of my face. One thing I`m not blind to. The right of everybody to comment on events that took place before they were born; not just you.

On your last sentence, absolutely and to be welcomed in conversation. But that comes with the acceptance that any comments made can be ridiculed if they are without foundation or evidence.

See, there you go again. Is there any need for you to ridicule somebody else's comments? In the past, you have mentioned conversation's you have had, and the words you used were "learned experience". But apparently, if anyone else gains knowledge from "learned experience" you say that they are open to ridicule. "On your last sentence, absolutely and to be welcomed in conversation." - But that is again not true is it ! You have stated, quite openly on this thread, that anyone who was not born at the time (historical) could not possibly have a view of those events. It's there in black & white. Hypocrisy, I see hypocrisy throughout your posting history.

Hypocrisy, I see hypocrisy throughout your posting history. That's your translation. Maybe you had gone from English to German and back again. To paraphrase my own comment I was querying Alf's source. He said he was told, by locals. I queried how could they know, they were not around. Now the retort to that is not to be indignant, but say, for example, "further to the anecdotal evidence as expressed by the people I met, this is one example of the recorded history that supports their claims" But no. Nothing. So I post (literally copied and pasted) a piece of recorded history covering an actual event and you and others get pissy with me. A bit like Belize (British Honduras). The underlying theme to this (I believe) is that some believe what they want to believe not necessarily what is true, even when the evidence is staring them in the face. Then become aggressive when it's pointed out (the evidence).

As for copy & pasting....tsk, how many times have you criticized somebody for doing that? Personally, I don't think there is nothing wrong with it, but you seem to think it's worthy of ridicule. Once again one law for you and you alone. Oh, and nobody is being aggressive. If they were I'm pretty sure Admin would clamp down on it. We are just calmly and politely pointing out the ongoing hypocrisy of your posts. "The underlying theme to this (I believe) is that some believe what they want to believe not necessarily what is true" - You need to look in the mirror.

So you meander back to Belize. Explain to us why Guatemala would want to invade Belize? What's your understanding of that situation?

Asking for Alf Tupper and Basel You 'speak' in ever increasingly arrogant and bizarre bromides Oldie. Do you think GB military should move out of Belize? Do you think GB should carry on giving millions of £s in aid to Belize?

So you meander back to Belize. Explain to us why Guatemala would want to invade Belize? For the same reason that a lot of countries invade other countries? Long standing grievances. And even if they have no wish to invade at the moment, who`s to say that won`t change over some pretext.

No? Ok, try this. "In 1763 Spain in the Treaty of Paris allowed the British settlers to engage in the logwood industry. The British introduced slavery to Belize and imported thousands of slaves from Africa to cut logwood (used at that time to extract a dye) and later mahogany. The inter-marriage between Europeans and their African slaves led to modern day Creoles in Belize." Well, I never. Who would have thought it. Ah!The mans an angel. Have you cleared out the empty champagne bottles from your spare rooms to take in Ukranian war refugees yet? Surely the virtue signalling gobby Guardian reader is taking people in.
