Watched it on the telly box last night.
Good game, real end to end for the first half and 2-2 would not be an unfair half time result. Thankfully the best keeper since Steve Phillips showed yet again why one of his hands is on the Player of the Season trophy.
We have a midfield now that can keep the ball well, it’s just searching to make that killer final ball. Hoole’s pass for the winner would not look out of place on a MOTD highlight reel.
My only concern is that we still look shaky against hoofball teams. It bypasses our excellent defensive midfielders and puts the back 4 on very shaky ground. Connolly definitely adds composure there now he has fitted in, and kudos to Nick Anderton, who put a big shift in.
We go again on Saturday, 6 points against Harrogate and Colchester at the Mem and I’m convinced we will be top 7, maybe top 5, by this time next week.
Then it is very much game on.

Well that has shown me that the team are ready for a push for a play off spot as the best test is after you have had a defeat and it looked fairly decent on the TV

That will do nicely. Back hone Friday from this odd place, in time to be there for our victory on Saturday 🇰🇼 I imagine Kuwait to be "odd" Grant, interesting though. Never been to the Middle East. Concerning Rovers,I suspect the lads will be relieved to get back to mainly Saturday only fixtures.13 games on the Saturday Tuesday bounce is a big challenge. What an equally fascinating and exciting season!

Really good game, fantastic result, Rovers are in a very promising place now. Went to the match, this team are playing some of the best possession football I have seen from a Rovers team in years. Still some sloppy defensive moments, Crawley had a few good opportunities in the first half, but had their work cut out to cope with Rovers interplay. Crawley really went for it in the second half, but Rovers were always a big threat when they broke away, Hoole was really impressive yet again, and Collins had another great game. It looked as if the points were in the bag after the second goal, but Crawley caused plenty of problems with corners, and free kicks, and always looked likely to score. Unfortunately, Anderson had to stay off the field after receiving treatment, whilst the corner was being taken, which led to their goal. Not for the first time in the last few weeks, we were hanging on near the end, not sure if so many games played weekly might be the cause, but the players deserve so much credit for their spirit and quality. Everybody played their part without doubt, and it is handy to be able to bring on such an experienced, calm head like Whelan. Getting more and more optimistic now, next big test will be to come back if we concede the first goal in a game, which doesn’t seem to have happened much lately. Also need to avoid conceding silly free kicks when we are under the cosh, stop opposition pumping the ball into the box. Rovers are reeling teams like Tranmere in now, and a win at Northampton could make the top three a target, but probably best not to think too far ahead. There are always some unexpected results towards the end of the season, as some teams start to feel the pressure. So important the two centre backs stay fit, especially with Kilgour seemingly unlikely to be able to step in, if needed. Another fantastic turn out of Rovers fans to a difficult place to get to in midweek, 500 plus there, pretty sure the announcer gave out the attendance as 2,000 odd.

Connolly was awful first half and could easily have cost us 3 goals against a better side. He did improve as the game wore on. Taylor on the other hand was impeccable throughout and won everything that came his way despite being constantly fouled throughout. Based on this one performance - the best centre half I can remembers since Tillson, and still so young. Can we keep him? Belshaw definitely MOTM - some excellent saves to earn us the win. Luca Hoole's run and cross and Collins' finish the pick of the action for me. Was down the other end of the ground for the first goal but looked a tidy finish from a tight angle. They deserved something out of the game for at least trying to play football, and had as many, if not more good chances than us. We are on a good run of form but we don't play totally as a team, and are too soft at either end of the pitch to convince me that we'll be promoted. We do have some good individual players and if we did gel as a team then someone would get a serious thumping. We rode our luck to get 3 points last night though. I really like Coutts, Finley and Whelan - all 3 do the hard yards and get right stuck in. Those 3 won't be owned by many other midfielders in this league. Only issue is all 3 are getting on and can't be a long term solution - in a year or two at least one, maybe two or even all 3 will need to be replaced. Whilst not our most pressing need right now, a plan for doing this will need to be developed for next season. First ref (Lee Swabey) was excellent. His replacement was a useless puffer. Enjoyable night out, if a long one. Game was entertaining and the people there were friendly, and they have a much better tent than us.

Exeter City beat Swindon Town 3 1. makes our draw with them, disappointing at the time, look like a decent result.

And I`m not sure about Crawley playing that much football.
It seemed to me that we`d string a dozen or so passes together to get nowhere, then they`d launch one ball over the top, and we`d be scrambling.
Even so I thought we were worthy of the win, and right up until the last few seconds when the ball was bouncing around in our box, I was confident that we`d get the three points.
And it was the first away win I`ve seen this season, so feeling quite content with life today.

John Yems,Crawley Town Manager on Bristol Rovers post game. "They'll go up". He is not exactly known for his predictions though, is he ? Even if we did go up, can you not see that we have a ton of contracts up and loan players to deal with. Regardless of what happens, we will be lucky if we retain Evans and we have others who are being watched. Evans has made it abundantly clear that he wants top class football, as soon as possible. Regardless, if we somehow do manage to sneak promotion then we will need to start to bring on our own players and not be in this situation again, that is unless Wael is happy with the current situation and is happy to continue to fund it. I’m lucky enough to have watched Rovers when we were second tier but with our own players, plus one sub. This is not a sustainable path and that word keeps being bandied about yet we are seemingly doing the opposite, with the team

The fall back position is always, in your words KP, "Wael is happy with the current situation and is happy to continue to fund it". I wonder if anyone has considered whether the presence of between 18 000 and 40 000 Russian nationals in Cyprus could have any effect on Rovers' finances ?
