Well done Poland & Sweden. The games should not be played at a neutral venue. Russia should be kicked out. Shame on EUFA/FIFA for not doing so already. Russia should be barred from ALL international sport.

Not sure what political pressure can be put on them.

Yes, I agree with you all over Russia being kicked out by FIFA. But I was reading somewhere that FIFA can’t do that for political reasons and if they were to do it then Russia could appeal and likely win the appeal. Which sounds crazy but may explain why FIFA are taking their time to make a decision on what to do. Perhaps Poland and then Sweden making unilateral decisions not to play Russia will force FIFA’s hand. I guess if Poland get thrown out for failing to fulfil a fixture we will know how FIFA are going to handle it.

Within their constitution I am pretty sure they can do whatever they want. Fine, kick out Russia and let them see how they get on in court. I would love to see national bodies threaten to boycott the Quatar World Cup unless Russia are thrown out. It would only take England/Germany/Italy/France/Spain and FIFA would have to back down. A WC with major nations not competing and no-one watching means FIFA won't make money. And we all know, that's the only thing that counts. FIFA is morally bankrupt.

Epping, I’m not disagreeing with you! But for all their corruption you and I both know FIFA will probably not act without a legal basis for doing so. And as for money being the only thing that counts I think you could add the FA to FIFA in that respect. They will not want to lose the money they will make from a World Cup. What will players make about missing out on a World Cup? It’s ok for Lewandosky to come out and say what he did. We all agree with him but there will be other players who when push comes to shove will want to play in the 4-yearly World Cup because it’s their one chance to do well, get a massive contract and break the bank. But yes, I’d like to see what would happen if it went to court. But I doubt it will. And of course you’re right a WC without England/Germany / Italy/Spain and France would be a worthless competition. I hope if it comes down to it those countries would withdraw from the WC. I just doubt they would if Russia was allowed to play. But tbh Russia are a poor football team compared to Poland, Sweden etc so I doubt they would have qualified anyway in the normal play-off way, the others are better. So I suspect Putin knowing that, has done what he has knowing that he’ll be able to cause trouble because he knew what those teams would say and do. Russia’s best chance of qualifying for the WC lies in the courts and him winning a place because Poland and Sweden have refused to fulfil a fixture. It’s rubbish of course but I think that’s what Putin will believe.

And in true Yellow belly fashion they (FIFA) instruct Russia to play under " no flag no anthem and in a neutral zone..... " Pathetic...

Over this week we’re likely to see FIFA come under pressure if Poland continue to refuse to play. If Poland then get punished or lose their WC place because of their stance expect FIFA and the actual WC to come under increasing pressure esp with it being less than a year away and with its already controversial Qatar saga that’s gone before. It will be an interesting week watching this and an awful week for Ukrainians. Good luck to them in their fight. FIFA will just look increasingly inept and clueless in equal measure. UTG!

The last two remaining Russian club sides in Europe, Spartak Novichok and Dynamo Polonium, have both been thrown out. Good.
