The thing is this is not a decision. If it was I could simply change my mind.
Not having any interest in how we are doing is something I could never have imagined, but sadly that's how it is. In past bleak times, from four of us going it dwindled down to me on my lonesome - still paying for four season tickets in the hope someone might keep me company occasionally. Nothing would keep me away. When finances and other issues meant I could no longer go to matches, I'd be glued to the radio commentary. When work got in the way of listening I'd be desperate to know the result. Now I'm happy to be otherwise engaged on a Saturday afternoon. Mid-week I'll turn the tv on, the radio stays silent. It will change one day, but I can't see it being before Barton is as far away as possible. I get that - there are some things that happen, and we just have to follow what our heart/head tells us. It is sad that you're missing out on some of the good bits at the moment, hopefully those will still be happening when other things have changed, and you feel able to engage with the club again. Take care. very nicely put, hoping you don't mind me saying so

Maybe you could of posted this as fellow anti JB posters were slating not only his character, but his ability as a football manager. Now results have bucked up,they've stopped that particular angle of their JB hatchet job. 4 wins,1 draw, last 5 games. naff all to do with that on my perspective and i guess others to, don't try hiding behind that for an excuse as to what you have written...... think you need to take a step back a few years and recall all the bile you used throw against a previous owner.... that's my last say on it I took sides in the 'Board civil war' and yes, occasionally I said things I'm not proud of. A damaging time for the fc. Off field ununited. A fine example of past Rovers cock ups. How not to do it. Other cock ups occur, with some good times too, until WAQ hires JB. Now,with Joe we've been professional enough to take steps to unite Rovers,on and off the field. Bristol Rovers actually learning from harsh lessons. I love it.

I know exactly how you feel. There were times at Eastville when my feet were frozen solid and I kept looking at my watch praying for the game to end but knew my Uncle and others from the Yatton coach were standing a few yards away so couldn't possibly leave early to get to the warmth of the chip shop. And at times in the 2001 - 2006 period my two young sons, cold and wet, sometimes begged me to call it a day but we usually stuck it out. I took the view then that you often have to live through the pain to get to the gain and in our case that was the 2007 promotion run and final at Wembley. But my quibble with the whole shebang is that I think Gasheads are again clutching at straws and seeing something in JB which isn't actually there because we are so desperate for Rovers to do well. And although I'd never suggest anyone stays away I can understand the point of those who do which Angas has articulated well. 4 wins 1 draw from the last 5 games Swiss. I see this. I haven't watched them the last four games Bas but the impression from reading the reports is that Rovers have developed a good team spirit, press the opposition hard, don't let them settle and fight to the last. What more can we ask ? Well, I should say for the highest budget in the league we should have a team which controls games and wins convincingly at least two or three times out of four against mediocre sides like Rochdale, Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and Walsall. But the bigger concern is JB's reaction if things don't keep going his way. We've seen throughout his career how he goes of the rails when others stand in his way and after listening to his early season Rovers rants I don't think that has changed. Maybe, if he doesn't get the players he wants, we will get a hint of that on Tuesday and if the result is not good at Sutton then he may open up on Saturday evening. I think it is far too early to go overboard about JB revitalising and uniting the club and the danger is that if Gasheads fail to keep him on his toes and make him feel he is now untouchable then a damaging blow-up is far more likely to happen.

I think JB knows he is unlikely to be given such 'throne' as the one WAQ has given him,at another club. Do you have an idea when you might be at the Mem next? As you suggest ,we now have a team you want to cheer on.

Not good to see TWD deleting his account. No it’s not. I enjoy reading his posts and debating with him. I hope he comes back.

Yes I had a feeling you were Bas but your enthusiasm can be infectious so it's a good job I'm triple jabbed The way things are going over there (Boris, Mason Greenwood, TTWD, Cyclists etc) I'm not sure I can bring myself to attend the UK any time soon.

From the highlights . Harsh red card on Hoole.Hes doing very well. I think Luke Thomas tenacious with quality. Big Jon Anderton another determined good game and I think he's the unluckiest of our squad not to be a usual starter. Nice little "up and under" from Whelan, that led to a very brave challenge for the ball from Harvey Saunders ,for our ever more swaggering goal scorer Mr Saunders to do his thing.🙂

Thank you for the reply - it's always interesting to read different points of view. I haven't closed my mind to JB's history, what I have done is to decide that that one man won't keep me away from one of the few pleasures I have in life at the moment. I quite understand that others feel differently, and act accordingly.. I think that the closest I came to deciding not to go to games was during the Graydon managerial era. I used to stand on the Blackthorn then, (usually freezing), and every so often I'd look at the clock which used to be on the West Stand, and calculate how many seconds there were left to play. It was a few minutes blessed relief from the dire football - well, probably more than a few minutes, as my maths isn't great! Now I'm happy to be otherwise engaged on a Saturday afternoon. Mid-week I'll turn the tv on, the radio stays silent. You`re happy watching Homes Under The Hammer, and we`re happy cheering on our team. We`re all happy. God`s in his Heaven, all`s right with the world. Is there any need to go on about it?

There's no real need to be on a football forum. All activity here is entirely discretionary, which is nice

Commonsense if you can match the right player, club and manager. Cloughie signing Don Mackay at Derby, then becoming Champions is perga6a great example. Edit. Except County were also top division, but I think my point is made!Haha!. Alan Ball at Rovers eg.

Working, actually. From necessity not choice. Which possibly makes my 'happy' different from yours. And I'm responding to people who have directly addressed me on here. Sorry if that offends.

Ah, account deleted - seems to be the thing on here when people find themselves on the back foot, with nowhere to go. I'm with TWD. This is not the club I've supported. I feel extremely disengaged and that won't change until Barton is gone. It's not a choice. Fine for those who can ignore his character and history of violence. I can't. Simple as. On a side note, I was told by someone who was there yesterday that the game was dreadful. It was absolute dross full of passes going astray and nonchalance. Walsall came with their feathers all ruffled ready for a cockfight and the ref came with his cards protruding out of his pocket for instant use. Diego Barton's reputation goes before him and any response from players and officials is down to him and him alone. The game was littered with niggly fouls and face-offs, the worst being Barton keeping hold of the ball and not letting their player take a throw-in because Evans had crashed into the hoardings. But he was off the field receiving treatment so there was no need to hold up the game and he eventually got a yellow card for his petulance. What kind of role model is that for all the young kids in the crowd? It's all part of his strategy, of course, just like Diego Simeone. Disrupt the play and grab a killer goal seems to be the one and only tactic, except when we're three up against a team of youngsters and almost let it slip in the final minutes due to nonchalance and ludicrous substitutions. Sunderland would be a better fit for him.

Thought he was trying to get Evans back on the pitch, while having a go at ref fir missing the incident.

Not remotely offended. Apologies for presumptuousness in addressing you, unbidden. Sometimes got the impression from your posts, that you weren`t at all happy. Glad to be corrected.

Dave Mackay isnt really a great example,he went to Derby who were a top team and played a few seasons for them. He actually finished his playing career at Swindon.
