I see the Chamoions League is in St Petersburg this season. In the scenario one of our clubs make it,they should refuse to play.
Maybe UEFA could move the final destination.
Maybe to Kiev eg.

Might need a fair bit of rubble clearing away, before the game could take place. According to the BBC a couple of days ago, the Russians have their cruise missiles up and ready, and targeted on the Ukrainian capital.

Both Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania have borders with Russia. They have been members of NATO for about 18 years, which really blows away Putin's claim that he doesn't want NATO on his doorstep in Ukraine. The NATO thing is just a red herring. Forgot to say that Poland and Norway also have borders with Russia. Fair point. But Ukraine isn`t yet a member of NATO, and I guess for Putin, allowing a country which was until recently part of Russia, to join NATO is a step too far for him to accept.

Now the invasion has actually begun, let's see if the politicians have the balls to do what is needed.

He will take Ukraine, then we shall see if the West will grind him down economically. Let's hope so.

I believe the German constitution is set up to not engage in warfare physically, but to "aid " their allies, not sure what that means, as to war, can't see that happening, monetarily wise, pretty sure with all the crooked state funded thieves they will get by initially, depends on how aggressive they are and the amount of bloodshed, and then how long they can get by without" the people are starving" effect with no imports if the west stand up to their words, but obviously this is a well, long term plan and Putin will have in place " rations"

Putin has concentrated his forces, the West have done nothing. It's too late for that. The UK for example has cut Defence to the bone, with many people moaning about the cost of Defence and that the money would be better spent on the NHS etc. Well, if you cannot stop a bully like Putin then there will be no NHS eventually. The very first priority of the government should be Defence. If you have no country left then any arguments about anything else are totally meaningless. Russia should now be cut off from the rest of the free world. All flights in and out should be banned. All shipping in and out should be banned. All borders closed. Russia will be cut off from all financial markets. Assets will be frozen. Russia banned from world-wide sporting events. Any countries not adhering to this should also face sanctions and bans, including China. Where are the United Nations in all of this? I haven't heard a peep from them! Next, the West has shown a total lack of action so far. Will this be the green light for China to invade Taiwan?

Will this be the green light for China to invade Taiwan?" The Chinese will watch what we do with interest. I do fear we are in a big battle to defend liberal democracy from fascist states like Russia and China. Late Edit. I should have added, "defend from internal populist right wingers, the like of which we are witnessing in the USA"

With his threats regards intervention, would he have agents strategically placed to create bloodshed at places " of interest" around the western world?

The MOEX Russia Index is down 40% today. It's basically crashing. It's their biggest slump on record, and it's only 10.30am !.....sorry, make that 43.5%. It's going down as I type !

I'm glad you think like that Oldie. It's the same principle as the people of the UK deciding to leave the EU. However, I'm not that sure about you personally defending the right of British people to choose their own path.

Just like everyone else. Your statement is a classic false equivalence.
