TUESDAY 24th OCTOBER 2023 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - GROUP C
Sporting Braga 1 Real Madrid 2 (Bellingham 61)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/9A58/production/_131521593_gettyimages-1754711276.jpg Jude Bellingham has scored in all three of his Champions League appearances for Real MadridJude Bellingham continued his brilliant start to the season with another goal to help Real Madrid claim a narrow Champions League win at Braga. After Rodrygo's first-half opener, Bellingham found the bottom corner in the 61st-minute with a fine, curling finish. The England midfielder now has 12 goals in 15 matches for club and country this season. Alvaro Djalo pulled a goal back for Braga but Real held on in Group C. Vinicius Junior thought he had added a third late on for the visitors, but his strike was ruled out for offside. Rodrygo also had a first-half effort disallowed as Real Madrid created most of the chances at Estadio Municipal de Braga. Tempers boiled over after the full-time whistle as Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger was escorted off the pitch by a couple of team-mates having been involved in an incident with some Braga players. The result means the record 14-time winners lead the group with a perfect nine points from their opening three matches, while Braga are third with three points. Carlo Ancelotti's side are three points clear of second-placed Napoli, who beat winless Union Berlin 1-0 on Tuesday. Who else but brilliant Bellingham?Once again, 20-year-old Bellingham proved to be the difference for Real Madrid. The former Birmingham City midfielder, who joined Los Blancos from Borussia Dortmund this summer, was integral to the Spanish La Liga side's attacks. He almost scored just after the restart, controlling a cross with his chest and seeing his volley on the turn tipped over the bar by Braga keeper Matheus. His strike, which was placed into the far bottom corner from the edge of the box, is his third in three Champions League matches this season. He also has 11 goals in 12 league matches this season and one for England as he maintains his excellent start to life in Madrid.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D7E1/production/_131556255_gettyimages-1749769964.jpg Jude Bellingham has scored 10 goals across his first 10 La Liga matchesJude Bellingham scored an incredible equaliser and a 92nd-minute winner to help Real Madrid come from behind to beat rivals Barcelona on his first El Clasico appearance. Ilkay Gundogan's first Barca goal had put the hosts ahead after six minutes. But Bellingham smashed a sensational leveller in the 68th minute, finding the top corner from 30 yards out. The England midfielder then netted an injury-time volley to continue his fairytale start to his Real career. Bellingham, 20, now has 14 goals in 16 matches for club and country this season. Los Blancos' win meant they moved above Girona on goal difference at the top of La Liga, and four points clear of third-placed Barcelona. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/89C1/production/_131556253_gettyimages-1749779414.jpg

Elye Wahi England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has won the Kopa Trophy for the world's best player aged under 21. The 20-year-old was recognised at Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris. Bellingham has enjoyed a stunning start to his career at Real Madrid, scoring 13 goals in his first 13 games since joining in the summer. The Kopa Trophy recognises his performances last season, during which he scored 14 times in 42 games for Borussia Dortmund. He also helped England reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/10/30/20/77189587-12689825-image-a-13_1698696597314.jpgBellingham was picked ahead of Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala, with former winners - Barcelona pair Gavi and Pedri - as well as Real team-mate Eduardo Camavinga also up for the award. SUNDAY 5th NOVEMBER 2023 - SPANISH LA LIGA
Real Madrid 0 Rayo Vallecano 0
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/35B8/production/_131625731_gettyimages-1765318783.jpg England midfielder Jude Bellingham was able to continue with strapping after suffering a first-half shoulder injuryReal Madrid missed an opportunity to return to the top of La Liga as they were held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu. The result leaves Real second in the table, two points behind leaders Girona who won 4-2 at Osasuna on Saturday. Federico Valverde, Joselu, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr all had chances to score for the hosts. However, the visitors held firm for their first away point in this fixture since 2000. Francisco's Vallecano team are now unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions. They frustrated their more esteemed Madrid neighbours but rarely looked capable of scoring, failing to register a shot on target. In contrast, it was a frustrating evening for Carlo Ancelotti's home side, who were unable to convert any of their 22 attempts at goal and had a first-half injury scare when Bellingham required treatment for a shoulder problem. The two-goal hero of the recent Clasico was able to continue but could not deliver a show-stopping moment this time. Manager Ancelotti said the England international's condition would be assessed on Monday but indicated it was no cause for great concern. "Bellingham will be tested tomorrow. We don't think it's anything serious," Ancelotti said. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/16A50/production/_131625729_gettyimages-1776972017.jpg

Jude Bellingham: England and Real Madrid midfielder wins Golden Boy award..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/410F/production/_131755661_judebellingham.jpg Jude Bellingham has 13 goals and three assists in 14 appearances for Real Madrid this seasonEngland and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has won the 2023 Golden Boy award - given to the best under-21 player in Europe's top flights. The 20-year-old moved from Borussia Dortmund to Real in the summer and has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances. This award comes after Bellingham was recognised as the best under-21 player in world football at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in October. "Now I have this prestigious award I want to keep going," he said. "I want to keep pushing the limits of my potential and hopefully many more trophies to come." Bellingham added: "I'd like to thank everyone who has been part of my journey so far at Birmingham, Dortmund and now Madrid. It wouldn't be possible without them. "Lastly and most importantly my family who give me the support and motivation and love every day to keep striving." Bellingham is the first English player to win the award since Raheem Sterling in 2014, when the Chelsea winger was at Liverpool. Other notable winners include Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/175A7/production/_131755659_judebellingham.jpg

Cadiz 0 Real Madrid 3 (Rodrygo 14, 64, Bellingham 74)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/F57A/production/_131824826_gettyimages-1815104340.jpg Jude Bellingham has failed to score in only four games for Real MadridJude Bellingham scored his 13th goal of the season as Real Madrid returned to the top of La Liga with a 3-0 victory at lowly Cadiz. Real went into the game two points behind Girona and took an early lead through Brazil forward Rodrygo. The 22-year-old then doubled Real's lead midway through the second half. England midfielder Bellingham, 20, then continued his remarkable start to life in Madrid by firing home to seal Real's third straight win. It was Bellingham's 11th goal from 12 La Liga games since joining Real from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. The Birmingham City youth product had a hand in the first goal, playing it wide to Rodrygo, who appeared to have run into a dead end inside the penalty area but managed to maintain possession and fire into the top corner. Real lost forward Vinicius Jr to injury during the international break but fellow Brazilian Rodrygo has now scored in three straight games for Real for the first time since joining from Santos in 2019. Luka Modric drilled a low strike against the foot of the post in the second half and moments later helped the ball on to Rodrygo, who cut inside before firing inside the far post. Rodrygo then laid off to Bellingham in the left channel and the in-form Englishman fired a fine left-footed strike across goal and into the bottom corner. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/A75A/production/_131824824_gettyimages-1803747682.jpg

The England midfielder headed in David Alaba's cross in the 22nd minute to put the 14-time winners 2-1 ahead. It was the 20-year-old's 15th goal in his 16th appearance for Los Blancos. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/109C6/production/_131883086_gettyimages-1820962559.jpgHe also assisted the fourth goal for Joselu in added time as the Spanish club continued their perfect record in the Champions League with a 4-2 win. Giovanni Simeone opened the scoring for the visitors in the ninth minute but Rodrygo's brilliant curling effort brought Real level two minutes later. Bellingham put the home side ahead but Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa equalised for the Italian champions just after the restart with a powerful volley from a tight angle. Teenage substitute Nico Paz, the son of former Argentina defender Pablo, scored the third for the hosts in the 84th minute before Bellingham brilliantly crossed with the outside of his right boot for former Newcastle United and Stoke City striker Joselu to tap in. Real had already advanced to the last 16 as Group C winners after matchday four. Napoli remain second, three points ahead of Sporting Braga, who they face in their final group match.

Real Betis 1 Real Madrid 1 (Bellingham 53)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2004/production/_131969180_gettyimages-1836049150.jpg Jude Bellingham has won 27 England capsJude Bellingham continued his remarkable start at Real Madrid by scoring his 16th goal in 18 games - but it was not enough to earn the La Liga leaders victory over Real Betis. England midfielder Bellingham, 20, slotted in after controlling a delightful pass from Brahim Diaz over the Betis defence after 53 minutes. But Aitor Ruibal hit a stunning equaliser from outside the area. It means Girona can go top with victory at third-placed Barcelona on Sunday. Bellingham, who last month became the first player to score in each of his first four Champions League appearances for Real, now has 12 goals and two assists in 14 La Liga appearances. The former Birmingham City player has continued to shine for the Spanish giants since moving to the Bernabeu in a 103m euros (£88m) deal from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Not only has he dictated games from midfield for Carlo Ancelotti's side, but he is the club's top scorer this season by some distance - with Brazil winger Rodrygo closest on nine goals in all competitions. Diaz picked out Bellingham's run into the box with a clever scooped pass and his team-mate's superb control with his chest set him up for a simple finish. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/1549C/production/_131969178_gettyimages-1836049172.jpg

TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2023 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - GROUP C
1. FC Union Berlin 2 Real Madrid 3 (Bellingham assist 89)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/AB57/production/_132036834_joselu.jpg Joselu (right) played for Stoke between 2015 and 2017 before two years at NewcastleReal Madrid came from behind to beat Union Berlin and reach the Champions League last 16 with a 100% record. The hosts went ahead through Kevin Volland after goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow saved Luka Modric's penalty. A win would have taken the Germans into the Europa League play-offs, but former Stoke and Newcastle striker Joselu scored two headers to put Real ahead. Alex Kral's low shot made it 2-2, before Dani Ceballos finished from Jude Bellingham's pass for the winning goal. Fourteen-time European champions Real won all six of their Group C matches to end with 18 points, eight more than second-placed Napoli who beat Braga 2-0. This was Union Berlin's first campaign in the Champions League, but they finished bottom of the group with only two points to end their European involvement. Real were awarded a 45th-minute penalty because of Diogo Leite's handball but Ronnow saved Modric's spot-kick, with the hosts going ahead shortly afterwards. But they could not hang on as Joselu finished from crosses from Rodrygo and Fran Garcia to score twice in an 11-minute spell. Kral made it 2-2 with five minutes left to give the home fans hope, only for Ceballos to score the last goal of the game in the 89th minute. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/5D37/production/_132036832_daniceballosandjudebellingham.jpg

Real Madrid 4 (Bellingham 25) Villarreal 1
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/4567/production/_132076771_gettyimages-1855950190.jpg Jude Bellingham is the top scorer in La Liga this seasonJude Bellingham continued his fine goalscoring form as Real Madrid beat Villarreal to return to the top of La Liga. The England midfielder headed in a superb cross from Luka Modric to claim his 13th league goal of the season and put Real ahead in the 25th minute. Rodrygo added a second for Real after an offside decision was overturned by a Video Assistant Referee (VAR), but Jose Luis Morales halved the deficit after the break. However, Villarreal's hopes were short-lived as Brahim Diaz and Modric scored within four minutes of each other in the second half to seal the three points. Carlo Ancelotti's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis and replaced at the top of the table last weekend by Girona, who beat Barcelona 4-2. But Girona, playing only their fourth-ever top-flight season, can leapfrog Real Madrid again if they beat Alaves on Monday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/E977/production/_132076795_gettyimages-1862987642.jpgFresh from topping their Champions League group with a 100% record, Real piled the pressure on a Villarreal side determined to play out from the back. Bellingham missed a chance to give the hosts an early opener, but he didn't have to wait long to make amends, heading home a superb chipped cross from Modric, who had clipped the crossbar moments earlier. The former Birmingham City midfielder has now scored 17 goals in 20 appearances since his 103m euros (£88m) move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. After Rodrygo's close-range finish was allowed to stand, Villarreal pounced with their first chance of the second half as Morales held off pressure from Nacho and Antonio Rudiger to slot past keeper Andriy Lunin in the 54th minute. However, Diaz danced through the Villarreal defence and unleashed a low strike to re-establish Real's lead in the 64th minute before Modric latched on to a loose ball to claim the fourth goal. It was not all good news for Los Blancos, though, as full-back David Alaba limped off the pitch in the first half with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.

SUNDAY 14th JANUARY 2024 - SPANISH SUPER CUP
Real Madrid 4 (Vinícius Júnior 7, 10, 39 pen, Rodrygo 64) Barcelona 1 (Lewandowski 33, Araujo 71 sent off)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/C8DC/production/_132302415_gettyimages-1925903953.jpg Vinicius Jr needed just 39 minutes to complete his hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Barcelona to win their 13th Spanish Super CupVinicius Jr scored a first-half hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Barcelona to win the Spanish Super Cup. The winger scored twice in the first 10 minutes to put Carlo Ancelotti's side in control in Saudi Arabia. Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for Barca with a superb volley but Vinicius converted a 39th-minute penalty to restore Los Blancos' two-goal lead. Rodrygo then added a fourth in the second half before Ronald Araujo was sent off to complete Barca's misery. Vinicius, who has recently returned from tearing a hamstring in November, celebrated his opener with Cristiano Ronaldo's famous 'SIU' goal celebration inside Al Nassr's King Saud University Stadium - where the former Real Madrid man currently plays. He said: "The celebration was dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo, because he is my idol and now he plays here." Victory was Madrid's third straight in El Clasico and gave them a 13th Super Cup success - one behind Barcelona's record 14 wins. Jude Bellingham was key to the opening goal, playing the ball in behind the high line of Barcelona for Vinicius to race on to and round goalkeeper Inaki Pena to score. Three minutes later it was Rodrygo timing his run in behind to perfection to expose Xavi's side before crossing for Vinicius to slide in at the back post. Barca responded well and got themselves back into the game when Alejandro Balde's cross was only headed out to the edge of the box, allowing Lewandowski to thump in a first-time finish. But just a few minutes later, the referee adjudged that Vinicius had been pulled down in the box by Araujo as he tried to get on the end of a cross. Complaints from Barca were ignored and the 23-year-old Brazil international confidently slotted home the spot-kick to complete his second Madrid hat-trick. With Barca throwing players forward to try and get back into the match after half-time, Madrid continued to threaten on the break and Rodrygo capitalised on some sloppy defending to stroke in the fourth. It got worse for Barcelona as Araujo's frustrations got the better of him and he scythed down Vinicius to earn himself a second yellow card with 20 minutes remaining. Bellingham had a shot cleared off the line as Madrid went in search of a fifth but Barca avoided any further punishment in the closing stages. "We have not shown the level required for a match like this," Barcelona Xavi said. "We played our worst game. We weren't comfortable at any point. Madrid hurt us on the counter. I apologise to the fans because it was hard for us to compete and we showed our worst side."

Jude Bellingham: La Liga investigating alleged insult made towards Mason Greenwood..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/5C79/production/_132537632_judebellingham.jpgLa Liga is using a lip-reading expert to investigate a comment Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham is alleged to have made towards Getafe's Mason Greenwood during Thursday's game. La Liga says Getafe "filed a formal complaint" and will "act based on hard evidence". The incident came after England international Bellingham tackled Greenwood during Real's 2-0 win. A clip of the incident then went viral on social media. It is not clear to whom Bellingham made the alleged comment. In a statement on Friday, La Liga said: "Yesterday, Getafe filed a formal complaint with the La Liga match director who, as per standard procedure in such cases, has requested an expert lip-reading report to investigate the matter and act based on hard evidence." Greenwood, 22, joined Getafe on a season-long loan from Manchester United on 1 September. In August, United said the one-cap England international would leave the club by mutual agreement after a six-month internal investigation into his conduct. It came after charges against the player, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February. Greenwood, whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2025, has scored six goals in 21 appearances this season. Bellingham, 20, joined Real in the summer for 103m euros (£88.5m) and has 18 goals in 27 appearances for Los Blancos.

A sensational long-range drive from Vinicius Jr gave Madrid an early lead at the Bernabeu. Bellingham then scored his first of the game from a sublime Vinicius pass before converting his 20th of the season after half-time. Rodrygo made it 4-0, before Joselu struck the post with a late penalty. Bellingham has now scored more La Liga goals for Real Madrid than any other midfielder in a single season this century - but the England international's night ended on a sour note as he was forced off with an ankle injury. He fell to the ground after colliding with Pablo Torre and was treated on the pitch for several minutes before gingerly getting to his feet. Determined to continue, the 20-year-old struck his second of the game after Paulo Gazzaniga had saved Vinicius' initial effort, but he was too hurt to carry on and was replaced by Brahim Diaz moments later. He was pictured on the Madrid bench with an ice pack strapped to his foot, but manager Carlo Ancelotti says the injury is nothing more than a sprained ankle and is "hopeful" Bellingham will recover in time for Tuesday's trip to RB Leipzig in the Champions League. Bellingham has exceeded all expectations since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in an £88m deal last summer. In November, he became the first player to score 14 goals in his first 15 appearances for the club in a 3-0 victory at Cadiz, surpassing the previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stefano and Pruden Sanchez. He is also the first Madrid player to score in each of his first four Champions League appearances for the club - and remains La Liga's top scorer this season with 16 goals. He had only found the net once since the turn of the year, but Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague feels the former Birmingham player has blossomed into a "complete midfielder" at the Bernabeu, attributing Bellingham's lack of goals to a change in position. "They are in awe of Jude in Madrid," Balague said. "He is, perhaps with [Antoine] Griezmann, the best player in La Liga at the moment. "[His recent lack of goals] is partly down to the fact that he's asked to be more involved in both offensive and defensive work - and a little bit deeper. "But [he is] in the top seven in goals scored, actions finished, and in defensive stats [like] recovering the ball. He's been outstanding." Vinicius, who registered his 12th goal of the season against Girona, was just as effusive in his praise of his team-mate, telling Real Madrid TV: "Jude is a star. "He scores a lot of goals and I hope he can keep going. Jude has been the best this season. We're doing things well and we're happy because we're a family." The victory extends Madrid's unbeaten La Liga run to 18 matches - their longest stretch without defeat since 2021.
