Something extremely puzzling took place, while I was in Joe`s Bakery. I asked the lady if I could have a taste of her muffin before I committed to paying for it, and she had me thrown out of the shop. Could somebody please explain what I did wrong?
I share your pain Alf. I once had a very attractive young lady if I preferred legs or breasts. I replied that I preferred a nice shaved pussy. Now I'm banned from KFC. Tsk, this modern world can be quite confusing. So true. Life was simpler in our day. I remember when safe sex meant making sure the handbrake was on.

Extras for England in the 1st test was 10, 2nd test was 16, 3rd test was 21 & so far in the 4th test is 9 = 56 runs, he is doing well and must play in the final test.

Stuart Broad says it "doesn't matter" which bowlers England play if they fail to post big first-innings scores.
The tourists were bowled out for 147, 236 and 185 in the first innings as they lost the first three Ashes Tests.
Broad, who played only one of those Tests, took 5-101 in the fourth as Australia declared on 416-8 and England closed day two on 13-0 in Sydney.
"You can dissect loads on this trip, but first-innings runs is where you live in Test cricket," said Broad.
"We've failed to deliver that. It doesn't matter what bowlers you play if you're getting bowled out for 140. That might be a bit brutal, but that's the truth in Test cricket."
And Broad has now urged England to focus less on long-term planning in favour of success in the short term.
"Instead of looking ahead at what is coming next year, in the winter, the next Ashes series, actually can we get back to the real basics of what is ahead of us right now?" he said.
"Sometimes when your brain leads you too far away from what's in front of you, you're not focused on delivering what you need to deliver in that Test.
"We don't know what the world or cricket is going to look like in June, or next November, but can we win tomorrow and the next opportunity that is in front of us?
"That should be a real focus for the England cricket team going forward. It's well and good planning for the Ashes, or the next away Ashes, looking at the World Test Championship, but if you don't win the battle in front of you, it's irrelevant."

Rain delay(s) the inevitable El collapso, possibly late morning start , with one life against him already ,the mindset will be set for a basically new ball coming off a freshened surface and Zac's stay , I think will be relatively short

Seen the shot that Hameed got out to? Utterly utterly hopeless. A pregnant kangaroo could have got through the gap he left between bat and pad.

I've been watching on BT Sport. Wouldn't Alistair Cook, even now, be better than any of the openers we have in Australia? Moheen Ali is talking as well. Why isn't he down there, with Rashid as well.

Well, what an afternoon session that was, Bairstow and Stokes had great fun, except when Bairstow got hit on the thumb, that must have hurt. England 258-7, Bairstow 103no, Stokes 66, Wood 39 & that 'man' extras 19 - 158 behind.

Moheen retired from Test cricket. Rashid much prefers white ball cricket. Given the paucity of alternatives, if both had been available I`d have played them. At least they can both bat.

You can see why he was the third highest run scorer for England in 2021 !

I understand that, but the question to be asked is why? Why was Moheen Ali messed about? Why doesn't Rashid want to play Test cricket? Can you imagine a spinner like Shane Warne saying 'nah' to Test cricket?

Can you imagine a spinner like Shane Warne saying 'nah' to Test cricket? Probably not. But the times, they have a changed. When Warne retired, the IPL hadn`t been formed. 20 20 "cricket" was still in it`s infancy. There weren`t the vast sums on offer, for turning your arm over for four overs per game. Is it any wonder Rashid chooses to save himself for that format?

Yes, times a-changed and the ICC and individual national Governing Bodies have seen £££s linked to one day cricket and have thrown all their efforts behind building that up. Apart from the Ashes in England or in Australia I’m not sure any countries fill their grounds when playing red-ball cricket. Vast sums of £ for white-ball cricket players even if they are mediocre. I like Jordan, Mills, Morgan, Roy, Hales and many others who can ball a max of 24 balls a day or bat for 30 minutes and make a fortune without slogging around the county circuit all summer. Alternatives are now available for county players which 10 years ago weren't there. Good luck to them but it comes at a cost for rest cricket perhaps.
