If Aussie bat first, I get the feeling this test will last more than 2 days ๐๐๐ค

You obviously paid more attention during geometry than I did. On the plane flying down there, I fell asleep for a couple of hours so I may have missed the left turn at the end.

The start has been delayed by rain, the toss will be at 23.30 and play to begin at 00.00.
Hmm. The hesian cover thing - descriptive, I know - has just gone back on the pitch...
Right. New year, new me, new England and all that. It can't be as bad as it was in 2021, surely?
Here come the captains for the toss.
Some quotes:
Mark Lane: Why donโt England try reversing the batting order, leaving just Root in his usual spot? Combined with several days of rain and regular thunderstorms, such audacious tactics could force a draw.
Ex-England spinner Monty Panesar: speaking about England's chances: "This Test is so crucial for a lot of the players . It could be a make or break moment for them. Joe Root is the template โ heโs been unbelievable.
"Thereโs so many younger players that have a lot of potential. They need to show character and mental strength going into the summer, and this Test could help with that."
Pete Corrigan: Four days of thunderstorms and rain forecast in Sydneyโฆ I bet any money England find a way to lose the Test match.
Ashley Giles: has been speaking about the less-than-ideal way this tour has gone.
Giles, England's managing director, believes systemic change is needed, rather than replacing individuals.
"Being here now, in this position, I absolutely feel the responsibility of losing this Ashes series," Giles said.
"We all do. And we can only apologise and I know there will be a lot of emotion, a lot of anger about how we've lost it.

Australia win toss & will bat first.
Amy Lofthouse Posted at 23:35
'SCG always been a bat first ground'
Australia captain Pat Cummins: "It was a bit tempting with the clouds and weather around but the SGC has always been a bat first ground and I don't see any different here.
"It has been awesome this week to walk through the same gates that I have been for 10-11 years.
"We love playing in the pink Test - it just shows the power of sport."

England captain Joe Root: "We would probably have batted first too because it does look a reasonably good wicket but there is some live grass and there are some overheads. There is an opportunity to get some early wickets this morning.
"I want us to keep working really hard at all facets of the game. It is is really important we keep throwing everything at each performance and understand that things do turn in time. We've got to be strong and resilient and take those chances.
"It is about outscoring Australia - it is about batting long periods of time but it is about putting that pressure back on. We're more than capable of doing that.
"We didn't consider more changes - I don't think we need too much change now. The guys need to take the opportunities and step up and put in a performance now."

I said this was going to happen. The rain that was falling over Joe`s Bakery, as I emerged with my sourdough loaf and blueberry muffin, did indeed end up curtailing the day`s play at the SCG. Nobby can ridikule my ignerunce as much as he likes, but yet again I`m proved right.

To prove yourself korrect why don't you go for a swim in the Feeder today and see if you get eaten by a shark, like wot happens to everyone that goes swimming in Australia.

Where on earth do you think he trained for the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, plus various World Championships? He was just too fast for the sharks. (And the jets too)

(And the jets too) *I have read the Evening Post, from cover to back, every day for the last 47 years (apart from Sunday's of course) and not once did they mention Ian Thorpe swimming in the Feeder.
*I may or may not have made that up.

You wouldn`t want to accidently swallow any of it, that`s for sure. That`d put a stop to your training for a week. At least. Might as well inject yourself with Campylobacter and have done with it.

Something extremely puzzling took place, while I was in Joe`s Bakery. I asked the lady if I could have a taste of her muffin before I committed to paying for it, and she had me thrown out of the shop. Could somebody please explain what I did wrong?

I share your pain Alf. I once had a very attractive young lady if I preferred legs or breasts. I replied that I preferred a nice shaved pussy. Now I'm banned from KFC. Tsk, this modern world can be quite confusing.
