I don't know, I think JB was right to lambast that player after missing what looked on tape anyway to be a sitter, I reckon a thousand or more of us who stand on the terraces would have put that one the ' right ' side of the post. To be pegged back to 1 - 1 against a side that had been reduced to nine men was just unacceptable and I for one can understand the managers angst and frustrations. Hopefully it will be the rocket that Thomas needs to come out stronger for the next game ....if selected of course !

Publicly hanging a player out to dry for missing a chance is rank bad management.
At least he stopped short of equating it to any of history's greatest atrocities this time. Progress.

Exaggeration, it was not so bad, angry manager letting his feelings known.Fair enough. Thomas may well need a kick up the bottom. Exaggeration? The only exaggeration was JB's criticism of LT. What I will say though is he did have every right to be angry, and in the main came across well. But he went a step too far with LT. Perhaps you didn't hear the full interview, live on Radio Bristol, straight after the game? I see that Rovers official youtube video has edited out that section, so I can only assume the BRFC agree with me and didn't want that to remain in public. Here's something to look at, the headline on the Bristol Post website: "Bristol Rovers boss Joey B***** launches scathing criticism of ex-Derby County man Luke Thomas"www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-boss-joey-B*****-6251316And here's a copy and paste of JB's comments from that article: "Luke Thomas will not get a better opportunity to score a goal in professional football," B***** said. "He doesn’t even hit the target, which sums up where he’s at for me "He’s not wired in, he’s never quite right and he thinks the world owes him a favour. "Unfortunately, if he doesn’t get his finger out, this opportunity at Rovers is going to pass him by. "He came in with a big fanfare of the ability he could have, but constantly when trusted and given opportunities, he doesn’t maximise it "Again, he probably thinks the world owes him something and he’s above the level, but if you’re not sharp and you’re not wired in and you’re not fully fit and you’ve not got your body in the right space, then no matter what level of football you play, you will not be successful. "You’re asking him to go on the pitch. You’re telling him there is going to be space for you and you’re going to have the opportunity to kill these off and we don’t manage to do that." "Luke should score. Let’s be honest, he should score, and I think if he was absolutely wired in and in the right frame of mind all the time, he would score. "But he doesn’t do things right consistently and if you don’t do things right in this game, you don’t get rewarded, you do not become successful by doing the wrong thing. "Before the game, LT is talking to him [Hunter] and I’m saying he’s the last person in this ground you want to talk to. You don’t want to catch what he’s got. "I tell him about getting wired in. I’ve seen so many young players who think they’re going to be the exception to the rule, they’re going to be the ones who do not live their lives right, who can eat fast food, drink fizzy drinks and turn up and think they’re going to perform.
When Luke Thomas arrived, we were told he was struggling with being away in Derby. His move to us was seen as a good fit as he was closer home. This is another example of people on here, and other forums/social media, who change their tune to suit JB's actions. Earlier in the season people rightly praised JB for looking after LT, saying "He needed an arm around his shoulder." Now the tune has changed to "He needs a kick up the bum." Well if he needs a kick up the bum keep it to the dressing room, rather than airing dirty laundry to all and sundry. I thought we were beginning to learn and understand more about mental health issues; I guess I was wrong. I think that he's had the kick up the bum in the dressing room (and not only from JB), hopefully the fact that people know that he's in the last chance saloon will motivate him to pull his finger out and knuckle down. It's not just about the chance he missed last night.

JB has his style and it sounds like LT has been given plenty of time to 'get the message'.Joe is nearing the end of his tether with Luke.He needs to buck up or we'll sign a player that eg reaches the required fitness level. In the scenario a player won't reach the fitness level expected because of eg a poor diet, well I'm happy enoughto hear the manager publicly expose the overpayed fraud. We've just got rid of Barrett and a good job too! January is not so far off.Can we send him back if he does'nt improve? Hopefully he will improve because he looks a good player.

Interview character assassination of Luke Thomas ... keep it shut for once Joey. Exaggeration, it was not so bad, angry manager letting his feelings known.Fair enough. Thomas may well need a kick up the bottom. Yes, we all know what the picking out of players, so publicly, achieved last season. I would have thought that a man who is more intelligent that at least 97per cent of us and possibly as much as 99, would have learned from this. My own view is that this kind of outburst is done in private and not in front of other players and public, I found it excruciating to say the least as i think Thomas is a great player and even the snake missed many one on ones. I doubt B***** cares though, i’d put money on it if i were a betting man

I wouldn’t have singled out anyone after that. Just calmly tell the whole dressing room to own it. Single out a defender for the goal, when whole team should have put it to bed by then anyway? Singling out Thomas puts the fans and world on his back, not the best way to get best from player in coming weeks IMO. Do you see my point?
Others missed chances, is it that much easier to score every one on one with defenders closing and keeper on rushing, compared say with those with time to put a simple header on goal rather than over?
And how can Manager tell team they got it wrong, when we are not fielding a balanced attack, we didn’t have a fit number 9 out there may have been main reason it finished 1.1!
Anyway there were lots of positives. I thought Whelan had a good game. And Evans.
Is the only way to watch FGR game to be in the ground?

Just got back.. First of all and more importantly, I hope fella carted out is ok.... thoughts with him and family. Second of all, big shout out to Ripley. M o m by 3 stunning saves, 2 of which in one move. Well well well.... well done us to again throw a winning position away. Almost complete dominance, a brilliant display no matter how many we were playing against. It's just a shame we can't put the game to bed. Very encouraging though....let's hope we can continue fine form and unbeaten run into Saturday. And big shout out to our large vocal support....on a Tuesday night!? Away days - can't beat 'em!
From the sublime ( Oxford ) to the ridiculous, ( last night ). There`s no doubt it was a decent all round team performance, but even against nine men in the 95th minute, it was no surprise to me that we couldn`t keep the ball out of the net. It was a good evening though. The banter between our fans and their keeper throughout the second half, was worth the price of admission. And to be fair to him, he played his part in alerting the officials as to the medical emergency on the terrace. The guy carted out, looked in reasonable shape. Conscious and talking.
UTG.
Exactly! It's an entertainment business, we both done our bit .... tastefully. Also, wapplauded him at the end, how many times does that happen? On LT......I think it's a mistake to do your dirty washing in public unless absolutely necessary. I didn't see LT lose interest or drop effort, yea he missed a sitter and if he was an out and out striker, then perhaps.....but be tried his best and this time it didn't work.....some credit goes to the Keep whom closed him down quickly.....but ultimately, (from the outside) I see this as doing more harm than good by criticising him in public. Makes me think there's a lot going on behind the scenes re JAB/LT....poor shout by JAB I m o

We'll see if Joe has 'buried' him. In the scenario he bucks up,then great. In the scenario he does'nt,well it's cheerio and good luck.

But he (not most) doesn't have to be publicly chastised for missing a few seconds chance in a 100 minutes match that blame could have been attributed to others. Harries, for instance? If he wasn't turned and allowed the only shot on target to get past/through him, equally we would've won. Where's the public gallows regarding him?

I don`t like him and I`m not interested in what he has to say. And listening to him publically lambast Luke Thomas, didn`t do anything to change my mind. But I haven`t spent my whole life waiting for a reason to stop going, so I`ll carry on. UTG!

So next time Thomas is thru on goal does he shoot or panic and look for a pass. Sorry Basle no way is a public hanging good unless Joey is looking for Thomas to leave creating a spot. Though how old is he?
