Does anyone remember the name of the social club in the cark park at the old Eastville ground, where fans used to drink before the game? Was it just The Eastville Club? I`d like the information for a funeral eulogy. Many years ago, a friend of mine, ( sadly no longer with us ) met his then to be wife in there. Thanks for any help.

Not old enough myself, but is that not the True Blue Club?

Yes PP, I’m pretty sure it’s the True Blue club. Didn’t it start the last time the Football Club and the Supporters Club fall out in early 60s? UTG!

There was the True Blue Club, but in the very corner was also the Eastville Club. That is still going despite Ikea owning the site (at least it was a couple of years ago)

Just to add, and help with the visuals, the True Blue Club was right behind the Tote End. If walking behind the Tote End, it was slightly more to the North Stand side.
The Eastville Club was 100 yards or so from the ground itself, the other side of the car-park, in the corner, and as mentioned before is still standing.

It's The Eastville Club Alf. Think there was something in local news a couple of years ago about it closing. Attachments:

Spent many an hour in the Eastville club in the 80's, during the snooker boom - the cost of using the snooker tables was really cheap. Alfie Biggs used to maintain them, and he was a decent player too. The only time I can recall going in the True Blue club was for a Q & A session with Bobby Gould and Gordon Bennett

In the true blue most pre match games, one you lad behind the bar, no idea of how a microwave oven worked needed to " soften " some rock hard butter, placed it in a bowl set it for about one minute and was flabbergasted when the " ding" signalled his cycle was done found a piping hot bowl of liquid butter, mate an I were in stitches 😂

I presume it operates just as a snooker Club these days. It was quite sad, it looked like it had seen far better days...

I read something some time ago that Ikea was comfortable just leaving well alone, its almost as if they forgot all about it, so I can well imagine its fallen on hard times. Shame

Shame I think two tables were in use on one side of the bar, 2 covered up the other side of the bar. They had Doom Bar on draft. There was still quite a lot of Rovers memorabilia there and I said to the owner that maybe Tom Gorringe might be a good person to speak to. Maybe Rovers could show some of the memorabilia, give them a bit of publicity? It's a bit of Rovers history and would be a real shame to see it go.

I drank in there quite a lot myself, prior to games, but couldn`t remember what it was called. Probably because I drank quite a lot, full stop.
