Good luck at Southend.
Kevin loves that club and I am so pleased that he has landed his dream job.
I still wish we had been able to sign him as a player at the turn of the millennium when he was probably the best midfield player outside of the championship.

Maher shouldn't even have been at the club after being part of a training set-up that was openly denounced by the current manager.
He was part of a failed regime and its a shame the board didn't get shot earlier. If there was any kind of proper structure of accountability in place then they undoubtedly would have done.
The likes of Mansell, Stewart and Parrinello deserve the club's best wishes - dedicated club servants. Maher doesn't. He scuttled off at the first opportunity.

The biggest failing regime that I have witnessed in the last 12 months is B***** and his band of not very merry men. That said, B***** has happily worked alongside Kevin Maher as even he knows a real footballing talent when he sees one. I can see you are searching for a scapegoat but Maher is not one.

He was also part of a coaching setup that took us from bottom four to top four of league 1. I wouldn’t take B*****’s denouncing of anything too seriously. And I’m not sure he scuttled off at the first opportunity either, I’m amazed he chose to stay this long at this s**t show

You don't think there's something of a contradiction between calling out the training regime as unprofessional and sub-standard and continuing to employ a senior figure who was an integral part of that training regime?
And in any case, I'm sick of the club being taken for rides by mercenaries while dedicated club servants are laid off or pushed out the back door with barely an acknowledgement of their contribution. I put Maher in the same category as Clint Hill and Coughlan.

It was a false position, as the team proved in the second half of the season. I don't think the collapse would have been as sharp under Coughlan, but I still think it would still have occurred. The best option would have been to clear out Coughlan's backroom staff when he left. Maher should have left at the same time and then been replaced. B***** basically said that the backroom staff were negligent and had failed to perform their duties. There was clearly something very wrong behind the scenes. Maher was clearly culpable to a far greater extent than other coaches - including Mansell - who have since left. The best option would have been to clear out Coughlan's backroom staff after he left. Maher should have departed shortly after him.

Good luck to Kevin. He seems a decent chap, who quietly got on with his job when surrounded by chaos - a calming constant in a troublesome period for the club. Obviously had a reasonable relationship with B*****, and I certainly wouldn't say that he's scuttled off at the first opportunity. I hope that he can restore Southend to former glories.

Good luck to him at Southend. I would imagine his time with us is perfect training for what lies ahead at Southend. They have probably been run worse than us over the past 2/3 years and that’s saying something. UTG!

Good luck to him.
It must kill him seeing Southend like that.

Seems some what odd that Kevin Maher is only 45. Feels like one of those guys that has been around forever and should be older
Quality player in his day, who I would have loved to have seen in the quarters.
Best of luck Kevin

Good luck to Kevin Maher, he must feel this morning as if he has just earned an early release from prison and can breathe fresh air again. At least the invisible man acknowledged his departure from the club and thanked him for his efforts. To this day Tom Parrinello who was involved with the club for 17 years as a junior, academy member, player and youth team coach has not even been thanked or even announced by the club that he has left. He must have left under a cloud, I wonder who he upset or criticised ?

Both he and Steve Hamer have that in common, this is not the club that i started to follow since 4 years old and my uncle leaving behind a blue and white scarf, we have become a club who has punters, not supporters and staff, not human being players. We have become no better, could be argued even worse that’s our red bumpkin cousins
